Hong Kong Arts Festival is first tour abroad

In February and March the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra made its first tour abroad, for the Hong Kong Arts Festival. The featured soloists on that tour were Victoria de los Angeles, soprano and Thea King, clarinet; the conductors were Christopher Seaman and Alun Francis.

In 1976, a 21-year-old Simon Rattle was interviewed on BBC News about his appointment as Assistant Conductor, a post he held from 1977 to 1980.
