Delyana Lazarova was appointed the BBC SSO’s Principal Guest Conductor from September 2025. In its five-star review of Lazarova’s BBC SSO debut in March 2024, The Scotsman described the audience “cheering noisily in the wake of dynamic, warm-hearted performances… especially exciting was the visible, energised synergy between Lazarova and the orchestra.”

Lazarova made her BBC Proms debut in September 2025, conducting Rachmaninov's Second Symphony, Shostakovich's First Cello Concerto with Anastasia Kobekina and Lili Boulanger's D’un matin de printemps.

In November 2025, she conducted her first concerts in Glasgow and Aberdeen as Principal Guest Conductor, joined by soloist Isata Kanneh-Mason for Rachmaninov's Third Piano Concerto.
