Musicians’ Union Strike

The BBC’s proposal to disband five of its ensembles, including the BBC SSO, led to strike action across the UK and the cancellation of about two weeks of that summer’s BBC Proms. When the strike was called off the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra had been reprieved, but a number of other BBC ensembles were axed.
