ਅੱਜ ਦੇ ਐਪੀਸੋਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਸੀਂ ਸਿੱਖਾਂਗੇ ਕਿ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਜਾਂ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਮੌਕਿਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੱਸਣਾ ਹੈ। ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹਾਂ ਇੰਨਾ ਤਿੰਨ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਕੇ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਬੰਧਿਤ ਕੁਝ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਤਰੀਕਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਦੱਸ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਮਝਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਸੀਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਾਂਗੇ, ਫ਼ਿਲਹਾਲ ਲਈ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇੰਨਾ ਹੀ ਜਾਨਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰੋ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਕਿਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਗੱਲ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। 

• I was born at 3 p.m. on Sunday the 6^th March.
• I was born in the summer, in July.
• I was born in 1992.

ਠੀਕ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਜਨਮ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਦੱਸ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਰਿਆਤਮਕ ਵਾਕ ਸੰਗਠਨ 'I was born' ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਿਸਦਾ ਮਤਲਬ ਹੈ, ‘ਮੈਂ ਜੰਮਿਆ ਸੀ’।
But now, shall we look at some of the prepositions you can use to talk about time?

Yes, let's do that. So there are three main prepositions we use to talk about time and they are 'at', 'on' and 'in', and there are some simple rules about when to use them.

ਚਲੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਸਮਿਆਂ ਵੱਲ ਧਿਆਨ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਇੱਕ ਵਜੇ ਜਾਂ ਨੌਂ ਵਜੇ। ਕੀ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਸ ਸੰਯੁਕਤ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ? Let's listen again to find out.

That's right. So we use 'at' with specific times. For example, 'see you at 2 o'clock'. Let's check the pronunciation – the word 'at' is not very strong in the sentence so it sounds like 'ut'.

ਅਸੀਂ ਵਾਕ ਰਚਨਾਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ 'at' ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ 'at the weekend' ਇਸ ਦਾ ਅਰਥ ਹੈ ਹਫ਼ਤੇ ਦੇ ਆਖ਼ੀਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ 'at night' ਮਤਲਬ ਰਾਤ ਨੂੰ।

I was born on Sunday.

OK so we use 'on' with days, so for example 'on Monday', 'on Tuesday'.

ਅਤੇ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵੀ ਅਸੀਂ 'on' ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ, ਉਦਾਹਰਣ ਵਜੋਂ 'on the 6thof March' ਯਾਨੀ ਮਾਰਚ ਦੀ ਛੇ ਤਰੀਕ ਨੂੰ।

I was born on the 6th of March.

So, that leaves us one more preposition, 'in'. Can you remember what kinds of words 'in' was used with in the examples you heard?

ਠੀਕ ਤਾਂ ਮੌਸਮਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਦੱਸਣ ਲਈ 'in' ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ 'summer' ਅਤੇ ਮਹੀਨਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਵੀ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ 'July' ਨਾਲ, ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਦੱਸਣ ਲਈ ਵੀ 'in' ਦੀ ਹੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ '1992'.

Yes, so 'in' is used with longer periods of time. We also use 'in' with 'the morning', 'the afternoon' and 'the evening'. For example, 'see you in the morning'.

ਸਮੇਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਬੰਧਿਤ ਕੁਝ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਵਾਕ ਵੀ ਹਨ ਜਿੰਨਾ ਨਾਲ ਕੋਈ ਵੀਸੰਯੁਕਤ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਗਦਾ, ਹੈ ਨਾ? ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿਸ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਅੱਜ ‘today’ ਅਤੇ ਕੱਲ੍ਹ 'tomorrow'.

That's right. So we just say 'see you tomorrow' with no preposition. We also don't need 'at', 'on' or 'in' with phrases with 'next', for example 'next week' or 'next year'.

ਹੁਣ ਕੁਝ ਅਭਿਆਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇ।

ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਦੋਸਤ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਕੂਲ ਕਦੋਂ ਛੱਡਿਆ? ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸੋ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ 1999 ਵਿੱਚ ਸਕੂਲ ਛੱਡਿਆ, left school.
