ਅੱਜ ਦੇ ਐਪੀਸੋਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਾਂ ਸਿੱਖ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਜੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਅਸਿਹਮਤ, 'disagree' ਹੋਈਏ ਤਾਂ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿੰਨਾਂ ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰਕੇ ਨਿਮਰਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੀ ਅਸਿਹਮਤੀ ਦੱਸ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ। ਇਹ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਸੁਣਕੇ ਸਮਝਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ, ਇਹਨਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਅਸਿਹਮਤੀ ਬਾਰੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ।

A: English is the easiest language to learn!
B: I'm not so sure.

A: English grammar is easier than learning vocabulary.
B: I see what you're saying, but I think the opposite.

A: Taking English classes is the best way to improve.
B: I agree to a point.

A: Listening is the easiest skill to improve.
B: I'm afraid I disagree.

A: Learning tenses in English is really easy.
B: Yes, but don't you think that there are too many rules?

ਉਹ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਪੱਖ ਰੱਖ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਸਿੱਖਣਾ ਕਿੰਨਾ ਕੁ ਸੌਖਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਕਿੰਨਾਂ ਕੁ ਔਖਾ। ਚਲੋ ਆਪਾਂ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਉਦਾਹਰਣ ਦੁਬਾਰਾ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਾਂ।

'I'm not so sure' ਮਤਲਬ 'ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪੱਕਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਤਾ।' ਇਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਹਿਮਤ ਨਾ ਹੋਣ ਬਾਰੇ ਦੱਸਣ ਦਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਨਿਮਰ ਤਰੀਕਾ ਹੈ। ਦੂਸਰੀ ਉਦਾਹਰਣ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਾਂ- ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੋ ਵਾਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜੋੜਿਆ?

ਉਸਨੇ ਦੋ ਵਾਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜੋੜਨ ਲਈ 'but'  ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕੀਤੀ,ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਅਰਥ ਹੈ 'ਪਰ'। ਵਾਕ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਹਿੱਸੇ ਦਾ ਅਰਥ ਹੈ, 'ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਗੱਲ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਹੈ' ਅਤੇ ਦੂਸਰੇ ਦਾ ਮਤਲਬ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਮੈਂ ਇਸਦੇ ਉੱਲਟ ਸੋਚਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

'See', in this example, means 'understand'. After 'but', you can add your own opinion.

ਇਸਦਾ ਅਰਥ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਨਾਲਥੋੜ੍ਹਾ ਜਿਹਾ ਤਾਂ ਸਹਿਮਤ ਹੋ, ਪਰ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ। ਚਲੋ ਆਪਾਂ ਅਗਲੀ ਉਦਾਹਰਣ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਾਂ।

ਉਸਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ'I'm afraid' – ਅਜੀਬ ਜਿਹਾ ਵਾਕ ਹੈ, ਨਹੀਂ। 'Afraid' ਮਤਲਬ ਤਾਂ 'ਡਰ'। Why is the speaker scared James?

The speaker isn't scared – 'I'm afraid' is a polite way to say I'm sorry.

'I'm afraid' ਮਤਲਬ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਬਈ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਸੋਚਣ ਤੋਂ ਡਰ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜੇਮਜ਼ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣੋ ਅਤੇ ਉਚਾਰਣ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੈਕਟਿਸ ਕਰੋ।

ਉਸਨੇ ਇਹ ਦੱਸਣ ਲਈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ 'yes' ਕਿਹਾ। ਫ਼ਿਰ ਦੁਬਾਹਾ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ 'but' ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕੀਤੀ। These phrases are easy to learn, don't you think James?
