ਅੱਜ ਅਸੀਂ ਸਿੱਖਾਂਗੇ ਕਿ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਿਮਾਰ 'ill' ਹੋਣ ਬਾਰੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੱਸੀਏ। ਕੁਝ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਿਹਤ ਬਾਰੇ ਦੱਸ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਜੇ ਪੂਰੀ ਗੱਲ ਨਾ ਵੀ ਸਮਝ ਆਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਵੀ ਕੋਈ ਗੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਫ਼ਿਲਹਾਲ ਲਈ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਜਾਣਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰਨਾ ਕਿ ਕੌਣ ਤੰਦਰੁਸਤ ਮਹਿਸੂਸ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।

I've got a cold.

I have a sore throat and a cough.

I have a headache.

ਠੀਕ ਤਾਂ ਇੰਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਤੰਦਰੁਸਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
So, Sian, shall we look and some vocabulary to talk about being ill?

Yes, the first person said 'I've got a cold'. So if you have an illness, you can say 'I've got …' and then give the name of the illness.

Yes, so ‘a cold’ ਦਾ ਮਤਲਬ ਹੈ ਜ਼ੁਕਾਮ- ਜਦੋਂ ਵੀ  ਤੁਸੀਂ ‘cold’ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦਾ ਇਸਤੇਮਾਲ ਕਰੋ ਤਾਂ 'a' ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਕਰਨਾ।

Yes although if you have 'the flu', we use 'the' not 'a'. So we say 'I've got a cold' but we say 'I've got the flu'.

That's right. Flu ਮਤਲਬ ਖੰਘ, ਜ਼ੁਕਾਮ ਬੁਖਾਰ। Now shall we look at some of the symptoms – ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨੀਆਂ ਜਾਂ ਲੱਛਣ – of a cold or the flu?

Yes, we use the adjective 'sore' when we feel pain. So you can have a sore arm or a sore leg for example.

You can also use the verb 'hurt' – you can use 'hurt' with any body part where you feel pain. For example, my arm hurts, my head hurts, my legs hurt.

ਇਸਦਾ ਮਤਲਬ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ਣ'sore' ਭਾਵ ਦਰਦ ਜਾਂ ਕਿਰਿਆ 'hurt' ਮਤਲਬ ਤਕਲੀਫ਼ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਵੀ ਇਸਤੇਮਾਲ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹੋ। ਯਾਦ ਰੱਖੋ ਜੇਕਰ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਰੀਰ ਦੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਇੱਕ ਹਿੱਸੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਗੱਲ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ

'hurts' ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰੋਗੇ। ਹੁਣ ਸੁਣੋ ਇਹ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਸਿਰ ‘head’ ਦਰਦ ਬਾਰੇ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। Can you remember how they said this?

I have a headache.

So with some body parts we use 'ache' to say that you have a continuous pain. So you can say 'I have a…' or 'I've got a' and then the body part and the word ache.
