प्रत्येक संवादात एकाने दुसऱ्याच बोलणं मधेच तोडलंय, ‘interrupt’ केलंय. So, Tom, shall we look at the language that people use when they want to interrupt?

Did you get it? All of the speakers begin with an apology. They all say sorry!

खरं तर कोणाचं बोलणं मधेच तोडणं योग्य नाहीच. पण गरज लागलीच तर ... अशा वेळी माफी मागून पुढे बोलंण योग्य.

That’s right. After we say ‘sorry’, we can use a verb with ‘to’. That’s why we say ‘sorry to interrupt’. Let's practise the pronunciation of this. The ‘to’ is not stressed. Repeat after me.

आणि ‘apologise’ नंतर येईल ‘for’, आणि त्यानंतर क्रियापद, क्रियापदाला–ING लागेल. हे ऐका, लक्षात येईल.

या प्रश्नात त्या व्यक्ती संभाषणात व्यत्यय आणण्याची परवानगी मागतायत. त्यांन मधेच काहीतरी बोलायचंय. योग्य शब्दात नम्रतेन आपलं बोलण मांडणं हाही संभाषणाचा शिष्टाचार आहे.

That’s correct. We use ‘may I’ and ‘can I’ to make polite requests. The speakers ask permission to interrupt. They don’t repeat the word ‘interrupt’. They use different expressions. What are they?

Can I just jump in here?
May I just add something?

ते म्हणाले ‘come in here’, ‘jump in here’ आणि ‘add something’. हे सर्व शब्द ‘interrupt’ साठी informal समानार्थी शब्द आहेत . यात ‘just’ पण वापरलंय. जसं आपण म्हणतो न , जराऐकता का.. तसच.  Tom, can you demonstrate the pronunciation, please?
