लोकं विविध गोष्टी करताना परवानगी मागतात, कधी सहजतेने तर कधी मुद्दाम. काही गोष्टी विचारून करणे गरजेचे असते. एखाद्या गोष्टीची परवानगी आहे किंवा  परवानगी नाही, याबद्दलची माहिती देताना कसं बोलायचं, ते आजच्या भागामध्ये शिकणार आहोत. लोकांना एखादं काम करण्यासाठी जेव्हा परवानगी मागायची असते तेव्हा ते कसं बोलतात, ते समजून घेउया. आता या वाक्यांकडे नीट लक्ष द्या.

We're allowed to finish early on a Friday.

We're not allowed to smoke inside.

अच्छा, 'can' नंतर जे क्रियापद ते त्याच्या मूळ रूपात वापरतात पण त्यासोबत 'to' वापर त नाही. आणि ज्या गोष्टीची तुम्हाला परवानगी नाही अशा गोष्टीबद्दल सांगताना आपण ‘cannot’ चं लघुरूप 'can't' वापरू शकतो.

Yes, and 'can' is a modal verb so it doesn't change its form. So we say, 'I can', 'you can', 'we can'. Let's quickly look at the pronunciation. So the positive form 'can' is not normally stressed in a sentence so it becomes 'can'. Repeat after me:

Great! म्हणजे बोलताना 'can' वर जोर दिला जात नाही. तशी गरज नसते. पण साधारणपणे 'can't' उच्चारताना त्यावर जोर दिला जातो.

बरं, म्हणजे एखादी गोष्ट करण्यासाठी आपल्याला परवानगी असेल तर आपण वापरतो  be allowed to. इथे एक लक्षात घ्या हं, याचाही अर्थ 'can' हाच आहे. आणि 'be allowed to' या नंतर तुम्हाला क्रियापदाचं मूळ रूप वापरायचं.

But 'be allowed to' unlike 'can' does change its form – we need to change the form of the 'be' verb. So we say 'I'm allowed to' 'He's allowed to' 'they're allowed to'. Let's practise the pronunciation.

Yes so to make it negative we use the negative form of the verb 'be'. Let's quickly practise. Repeat after me.

Thanks, Sian. आता एखाद्या गोष्टीची परवानगी आहे किंवा परवानगी नाही याबद्दल कसं बोलायचं हे तुम्हाला समजलंय तुम्हाला, फक्त आता सराव करूया.

एक छोटं उदाहरण ऐकू. समजा तुम्ही नवं घर घेतलं आहे आणि तुमचा मित्र तुम्हाला विचारतोय नव्या घरी काय काय गोष्टी करता येतात किंवा करता येत नाहीत. तुम्ही त्याला पहिल्यांदा सांगता, तुम्हाला त्या घरी पार्ट्या केलेल्या बिलकुल चालत नाहीत. यासाठी तुम्हाला शब्दप्रयोग वापरायचाय have parties. Party चं अनेकवचन parties.  हे दोन प्रकारे सांगता येईल, कसं त्याचा विचार करा, नंतर तुम्हाला शान दोन्ही उत्तरं सांगणार आहे.
