Now it's your turn
Last day of half term here. Last day of no school run obligations and pyjama blogging. A decadent start to the weekend eh? One of the reasons for our slovenly behaviour was the post show dash to see Warhorse at the New London Theatre. I had heard it was brilliant and, ahead of Michael Morpurgo's appearance on the show, needed to see for myself.
And guess what? It's brilliant. Everyone else was right. I enjoyed the film but this is so much smarter and so much more engaging. It's spectacle comes from the work of the Handspring Puppet Company who bring the horses to life. Many of you will have seen it and know all this but you really watch 2 shows; the story as told by the actors and then the puppeteers working the animals and providing their noises too. 2 hours and a half hours of being utterly absorbed, moved and thrilled too, we then got a speech from Michael Morpurgo. He told the story of how a pint in a pub in Devon with an old solider had formed the basis of what became Warhorse. It's now on in the US and about to be staged in Berlin. He'll be on the show shortly-don't miss him.
(and a mention for the brilliant folk singer Bob Fox who sang the John Tams songs and plays the omnipresent narrator-like song man. The singing is what gets you if the story hasn't)
It's Bond day on the film show on 5L with full review and Daniel Craig interview (Steve has Daniel C and Judy D too on his show). I agree with Chris that it's best to see Bond without anyone giving anything away but that's difficult when reviewing the thing. But Skyfall is the only show in town so it'll dominate matters I think. Then we'll hit the weekend with your ARF selection of good time tunes. Sylvester last week-anything better you've got in mind?
Have a washed and scrubbed (and maybe shaken and strirred) Friday, see you at 2&5.

Just a quick poop by with a couple of suggestions for the ARFO. Have I missed much? I haven't had time to look in all week what with Christmas cake baking and Hallowe'en costume making amongst the other usual more mundane day to day stuff.
Anyway, suggestions...

Zoe, from yesterday, please don't worry about depriving me of a mensh. Simon also gave me an erroneous mensh for Eric Clapton. I suggested a completely different track of his. I know that 'Here Comes The Sun' was a bonkers choice considering the theme, but it sort of fitted, and it is probably one of my favourite Beatle tracks. So it was lovely it got played, and if the mensh was going to anyone else, I couldn't think of a nicer person. :-)
No ARFO choice from me, but I hope that Erica's (of the stressed variety) choice of Rock Sharpe & The Replays gets an airing. How are the pom poms coming along?

I had the pleasure of driving back to London yesterday, and managed to time it so we left just before 5, so I heard the whole "episode" in the car. (Radio in the car is just the best place to listen). Great chattage, delicious cassoulet recipe, and some lovely toons played, even though "growth" was generously interpreted! Loved the Beatles choice, Zoe.
And well done to whoever got a mensh for Cher the other day - love that song!

Glad to hear that your nan is back home, Zoe.
Skyfall certainly is getting great reviews - Mr is a great Bond fan and says "It's all true!" as I guffaw at some of the more mind-stretching stunts (but secretly enjoying it...don't tell him!)
Hoffs - I won an ARFO crown with Bad Moon Rising at end of Sept last year when Simon referred to it as Swamp Rock!? So, good luck............... ;0)

Son - evil baseball bat weilding clown (hence pompoms). No bought costumes for us, a right cobbled together affair (which is why it takes so long to sort out).
Off for a well earned cuppa, might actually get chance to read back later while they're out. See you then.

I certainly learnt soemthing I didn't know about bridges - I'd heard of them, of course, but wasn't sure about how they 'worked'. Thankfully, the work he carried out last week is still holding so I've been given a bit of a reprieve until a decision has to be made.

Stuck through the letterbox, was one of those notes from the postie, telling me there is a LARGE parcel waiting for me at the sorting office. Unfortunately, the sorting office closed, before he even delivered said note!!
What can you do?
I have no patience when it comes to parcels, each and every parcel under the tree at Christmas is groped within an inch of its life :O
Now, who is next in line to the Throne do we think?

Looking forward to the show. Have been having trouble working out what day it is, every day this week. When ARF kicks off in a few minutes, I will definitely know that it is Friday!

Yup, well I'll take their word on that one, having just whizzed down to the sea, to have a look, definitely a day for admiring the clear views from the warmth of the car, rather than out cycling in it.
So, its to the top of the highest hill, scope, binocs and a hearty picnic, possibly a flask of soup. For some reason, I always think soup tastes so much better, when poured from a flask.
Off we go.
