Hope all are well. Big excitement yesterday - I had a blue box saying I couldn't comment. My first box!



Undecided weather here today. Bits of sun, bits of grey, bits of mizzle, cold-ish. We seem to have acquired a pond in the paddock. Didn't think we'd had that much rain! Was going to plant the potatoes and carrots today but we had quite a frost this morning so am going to wait a bit. Instead I went to the garden centre and bought more seeds for things I had forgotten (French beans, perpetual spinach, rocket etc).



Had a bit of a panic last night. I finished my spreadsheet for the veg garden and realised that I don't have enough room for everything! Whoops. Time to get creative - French beans will go in a pot, tomatoes in a hanging basket, rocket and salad leaves in window boxes etc. Two more potato bins needed and then I should be fine.



Ooh, skip man is here. Back in a bit.

#77 Alex_G, have you come across "square foot gardening"? If not, check it out on tinternet (there are books on it too). If you practice this, I'm sure you'll have room for everything.



I suspect you have a little more room than us but it's proven very productive on our small plot.

I think it is around 200 sq feet which I thought was huge but when I look at the space Titch tells me to have between plants, then it suddenly seems a lot smaller! Will look into the square foot gardening, Harry. I think it might help! We are only growing things we know we will eat so are trying to be sensible!



The skip containing the dead rat has gone - hurrah!



Sal, we have had some huge bumble bees over the past week. They seem to like the hellebores.



Ah, the punk blue tit is on the feeder by the kitchen window. The little patch of blue feathers on his head stick up so it looks like he has a mohican hairdo. Friendly little chap. There is also a bald blue tit who comes to visit. He looks like a little monk with a tonsure. Unlike Punk Boy, Monk Boy is really gobby!

Sorry, haven't abandoned you. It's just that I don't have any more news on what's going wrong, I'm afraid. It's been 'escalated' to a rather more specialist team based at White City where all the seriously techie people are based.



I've been trying to come up with a suitably long and preposterous acronym for them but without success.



Anyway, the last time they updated me was on Wednesday evening, so I'll see what the latest is.
