Dr Who and Joan of Arc together

Simon Mayo|08:13 UK time, Friday, 23 March 2012

And finally Cyril...

The end of a mad week. A welcome Friday indeed. The crazy taxi driver who got me to Waterloo disappeared in a tobacco haze- the pressure of not smoking for the duration of our brief journey too much for poor man. The children of Guildford were a delight (well, my small selection of them anyway) and yesterday's show was rocking I thought. Nigel's ginger cake was a thing to behold (unless you've given up sugar for Lent of course).

First up its the new Aardman animation The Pirates! An Adventure With Scientists which features the voices of Hugh Grant, Imelda Staunton and our guest today David Tennant. David plays a young Charles Darwin and is always fantastic value. Also at 5Live today, Jennifer Lawrence the Joan of Arc-style heroin of The Hunger Games-and she is quite something! Also today I shall attempt to run Mark through with a foil. For Sport Relief you understand.

Then, assuming it s not me who gets impaled on the walls of television centre, the mighty ARF takes to the airwaves one more time for 2 hours of party tunes and listeners who are having a planning to have a better weekend than you. But get in first with that ARF opener and let's get a blogger to get the ARF crown.

And if you had to sum up the blogs techie performance in the last 2 weeks? In a sentence? Thanks.

Have a sun-kissed and well-moisturised Friday, see you after 2&5.

Morning all, typical, post a new message and along comes a new blog.

Anyway, for a bright and cheery ARF....

    Happy Together - The Turtles.

  • Comment number 2.

Good Morning Simon, Team and Blogpoppets

If I tried to sum up the blog's recent techie performance in one sentence, I'd probably get modded. And Simon, I thought it was up to you whether or not a blogger gets the ARFO crown...

Back later to help make that decision easier for you...

    ;o)

    ~X~

  • Comment number 3.

Have there been blog techie problems?

  • Comment number 4.

Techie performance - I can sum it up in one word, never mind one sentence: ineffectual

Sorry Mr BAIU - but it's true, I can't even give you the teacher favourite of "good effort" because I have no evidence of it ...... you seemed nice but I'm still getting a regular green box.

ARFO: Do Wa Diddy - Manfred Mann

Summery, light, fun and as we've had an equimosh this week, a change from the boom! of rock (not to say I didn't thoroughly enjoy Dr Mosh this week)

  • Comment number 5.

    Morning all :-)

going to Manchester tonight to see The Four Tops and The Temptations....just a little bit excited :-)))))))

    ARFO

DA DOO RON RON by THE CRYSTALS (who are supporting tonight.....)

    PSL xxx

  • Comment number 6.

    or perhaps....

DON'T TAKE AWAY THE MUSIC by TAVARES (who are also on tonight)

would love a Tops or Temps ARFO but nothing really fits the big opener bang bit!

    PSL xxx

  • Comment number 7.

Morning Simon, team, NYM, technically challenged Matt of the BAIU, and perfectly evolved bloggers,

Is there anything worse than a car that stinks of smoke? How about a hotel room that stinks of smoke - you know the feeling, you arrive late, exhausted and stressed, check in, drag your bags upstairs, wander the corridors to find the right room, ready to flop into bed, open the door, and kerrrr-powwwww, it hits you. And then you find the windows are sealed up and can't let any fresh air in.

Anyway, on to more pleasant things - it's going to be a scorcher here today. And the kids break up for the Easter hols this afternoon, so better batten down the hatches.

Will provide a technical assessment for the blog a little later. In the meantime...

    For today's ARFO:

    NEW ORLEANS - Gillan

    GOING UNDERGROUND - The Jam

REAL WILD CHILD or THE PASSENGER - Iggy Pop

    COUNTRY GIRL - Primal Scream

    And if all else fails...

JOHNNY BE GOOD - Chuck Berry

    Caffeine injection #2 is beckoning.

    JBG

  • Comment number 8.

Morning all - I've been given extra paper stamping and stapling duties whilst various colleagues are leaving (annual and retirement) - so I will try & beat the M62 traffic home before 5 to listen to the ARFO. I need a weekend on the floating caravan to recover & the Windermere forecast looks good. So, how about:

THE BEATLES - A HARD DAYS NIGHT.

Mind you I always liked Peter Sellers' version. I must admit #5 PSL that Phil Spector 'Wall of sound' tracks run a close second for me all the time. TTFN

  • Comment number 9.

#8 I love the Phil Spector sound too it does what it says on the tin....and his Christmas album is the best ever IMHO

  • Comment number 10.

    Good Morning All

    Techie performance?

    I know this isn't a sentence -

    PROMISES + DISAPPOINTMENT = FRUSTRATION !

    ARFO -

I'd like to request something by FOREIGNER please - never been played as ARFO -

    URGENT

    JUKE BOX HERO

    COLD AS ICE

    FEELS LIKE THE FIRST TIME

    HEAD GAMES

    HOT BLOODED

    Take your pick!

    Or there's always -

    THE BEAT by The Look

  • Comment number 11.

    Morning everyone!

I like how Simon says "let's get a blogger to get the ARF crown"

Just you put your foot down Simon, and make sure it is a blogger today! ;o)

I'm off to make another cuppa and try and think of a good ARF!

    x

  • Comment number 12.

    Morning all

As we're off to see them tomorrow night, can we please have, as the ARFO:

L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.ON - Noah and the Whale

Techie Problems? To be honest, they are the reason that I've hardly been here this week; every time I had a chance to post I got the 'green box of frustration'! Something should have been sorted out by now IMHO ; )

#7 I didn't realise that the Easter hols were starting already!

    Back later

    Tortie x

  • Comment number 13.

Lets hear some ELO as an ARFO, now that would make a change. In fact, it would be a first.

*** Twilight *** by ELO would suffice.

    Gotta fly. Bristol bound :)

  • Comment number 14.

Good morning Simon, Team, NYM, Matt the BAIU and blogpoppets one & all. Been a while since I had the chance to say that!

Can't contribute to Matt's appraisal I'm afraid. Never seen a green, blue, pink or any other coloured box. The blog sems to work well when you can't get time to post ;-)

    ARFO?

    Some old favourites I think

Kaiserchiefs - I Predict A Riot maybe if the blog doesn't get fixed???

    T Rex - I Love To Boogie

The Jam - Down In The Tube Station At Midnight

    All fit the bill IMO!

    Back later.

  • Comment number 15.

    Some things I forgot ^^^

#7 Easter hols with 2 weeks to go to Easter? I want to be at that school ;-)

No scorcher here I'm afraid :-( very foggy. Hope y'all have fun in the sun.

Must get back to that thing that pays for all the nice things in life ;-)

  • Comment number 16.

    Morning all!

    FOOTLOOSE - KENNY LOGGINS

  • Comment number 17.

So anyway, as I was saying... If it's going to be a blogger ARFO this week you could do a lot worse than:

PICK UP THE PIECES by the Average White Band

HEAVEN IN MY HANDS by Level 42

WALKING ON SUNSHINE by Katrina and the Waves

    ~X~

  • Comment number 18.

    Because I am! :0)))

And, I gather that PSL is too but for a completely different reason!

    Be back later.

  • Comment number 20.

Harry, I know you don't usually blog over the weekend so can I just say to you now that I hope you and Helen have a lovely day on Monday and really enjoy yourselves with friends and family. XX

As it's the end of term here today, here's the report which will be coming home to DT Towers at 5:05 tonight in a sealed brown envelope:

    Pupil's Name: Matt

    Subject: Baiulogy

Matt has had a somewhat mixed term. He started off full or promise, with lots of energy and enthusiasm. However, after half-term some serious errors crept into his work, which, despite constant warnings, were not addressed. These issues were escalated in the second part of the term, and he made repeated assurances to pay greater attention to the consistency and reliability of his work, which were duly noted and welcomed. Sadly, despite these promises, further delays and a lack of any noticeable action have continued to impede progress, affecting not only the quality of his contributions, but also many of those around him. Attendance is becoming a serious concern, and I would not like to see this deteriorate any further. I suggest that during the holidays a meeting takes place between the relevant parties, including Matt, in which a plan is discussed and agreed to find solutions, making sure that next term starts off on the right foot, and we can put the recent silly and disruptive behaviour behind us.

  • Comment number 25.

    Morning all

Can we hear some JJ Cale please for the ARFO

CALL ME THE BREEZE will do nicely.

  • Comment number 26.

Good Morning One And All :)

It's rather grey and cold here at the moment, maybe the sun will battle through later.

I will try and listen to the film show today, I loves me a bit of David Tennant! I also adore Matt Smith as the Doctor, but I miss seeing David on the TV :(

A message for the blog's techie folk - Little boxes on the website, little boxes of different hues, there's a green one, and a pink one, and they all do much the same. They stop me from commenting, and they stop me from having fun, little boxes still appearing, little boxes just the same.

I think that just about sums it up ;)

    ARFO suggestions...

HERE COMES MY BABY - either THE TREMELOES or THE MAVERICKS versions, please.

    I WON'T BACK DOWN - TOM PETTY

    RADIO RADIO - ELVIS COSTELLO

    STRANGE TOWN - THE JAM

    That's all folks! :D

  • Comment number 27.

Good morning all from a very warm and sunny place

    Suggestions for todays AFR opener

BROWN EYED HANDSOME MAN - BUDDY HOLLY

JENNY TAKE A RIDE - MITCH RYDER

Enjoy the day, I'm back out into the garden as Mrs Vildeen has some landscaping plans!

  • Comment number 28.

Morning all. Early morning haze lifting to become a beautifully sunny morning. More of this please. :o)

ARFO? It goes without saying that I'll nominate CHICAGO - 25 or 6 to 4, so that's that out of the way.

Then I got to thinking about the whole listening to good tunes at max volume whilst driving home, which prompted me to think of a rarely-heard-on-the-radio but nonetheless great song by a former Dave Edmunds/Nick Lowe collaborator which seemed totally appropriate:

BILLY BREMNER - LOUD MUSIC IN CARS

Whilst I'd love to hear that, I accept that it's not a hugely famous tune and therefore less likely to get played. So, on a more popular theme:

GENESIS - Turn It On Again

  • Comment number 29.

And (this is just plain greedy) but as I just heard it, and it's great...

    SOMETHIN' ELSE - EDDIE COCHRAN

  • Comment number 30.

#24 LOL that made me laugh out loud John. X

  • Comment number 31.

    Morning all,

DT team, ARFO selector (who he?), DT Dude, bloggers, chickenpoppets and assorted petpoppets!

#20 yes, second that - How exciting! A bloggers wedding...I might get some odd looks wearing my MOTB outfit at work, but heigh ho I get them anyway!

I'm getting butterflies for Harry even now....enjoy your last weekend as an *engaged* couple!

I had fun on the bechod bench last night, but did find it hard to get my head off the pillow this morning! All that chilled wine....still, it was nice to have so many Kim Wilde fans on there with me - BTW CONGRATS to all the bloggers who did get a mensh this week, nothing like that feeling.. if my memory serves me correctly....*sigh*

    ARFO?

Going for a top four today, as they say 'you gotta be in it to win it'!

You can't go wrong with a little drop of Sir Elton, espcially as it's his 65th Birthday on 27th March!! (TUESDAY)

Sir Elton's CROCKODILE ROCK pretty please

or failing that, if the ARFO selector doesn't like Elt, (he doesn't appear on the ARFO list at all!!)

    SUPERGRASS and ALRIGHT

Local boys done good, and a great summer song to boot - supposed to be 20 degrees by the time the afternoon comes..

    OR

THE JAM & TOWN CALLED MALICE...no idea why, but a hammond organ sound reminds me of summertime?!

    last effort:

TOM PETTY and his HEARTBREAKERS & ROCKIN AROUND WITH YOU

    The band of my yoouf.

Off to see Hunger games tomorrow with #3 child, she's a Twiglet (deliberate sp) fan already, and goes under the pseudonym of Katniss Everdeen, so you could say she's looking forward to it..not so much the ticket buyer ;-)

    Enjoy your weekends, all,

  • Comment number 32.

    #24 : LOL!!

    #26 yeah, what she said...

  • Comment number 33.

Back again, making the most of the green box free zone!

YOU ARE MY WORLD - Communards

For some reason that song has been buzzing around my brain this morning!

#24 and #26 Couldn't have put it better myself!

  • Comment number 34.

A few ARFO suggestions from me.....

YOUNG AT HEART ~ The Bluebells

I GET AROUND ~ The Beach Boys

IN THE SUMMERTIME ~ Mungo Jerry

BRINGING ON BACK THE GOOD TIMES ~ Love Affair

    SUMMERTIME BLUES ~ Eddie Cochran

  • Comment number 35.

#22 YES BOSTON! Tried for that one lots of times, it ticks all the boxes, but maybe they need to hear it to realise how very suitable it is:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fm_-sW4Vktw

Seems to me it has to be all crash, bash, boom, tub-thumping from the first note..that keeps lots of ace choices off the ARFO list

  • Comment number 36.

Forgot to say - as someone else who rarely 'blogs' over the weekend - all good wishes to Mr & soon to be Mrs Snapper - I hope you have a lovely day!

Ps re sport relief fencing ?

I'm looking forward to seeing the DT Dude and Dr Kermode in a duel, to the death presumably, or just till your arms get tired?!

Oh and I watched the Sport relief John Bishop documentary last night - tears in eyes...

#26 I am also looking forward to hearing David Tennant on the radio - he did CD versions of some DR Who episodes and immitates other people's voices brilliantly. Even Rose's mum with her 'essex/london' twang, Brill. On long journeys, we always listen to those CDs.

  • Comment number 39.

    Morning all

Was going to suggest a cracking d.i.s.c.o. opener but seeing as we had Gloria Gaynor up first yesterday thought better of it. Instead will go for an 80s belter - just the opening riff conjures up the smell of patchouli!

'She Sells Sanctuary' - The Cult

Have a splendid weekend one and all :-D

  • Comment number 40.

Wish I had taken my phone out with me at lunchtime. We have a pretty spectacular view most days, on the seaside looking out onto the fjords, but today was pretty special with the sun burning the fog and the tops of the fjords appearing amid blue sky while the sea was still completely fog bound. Very atmospheric.

Wonder if Mr M will keep his promise to annoint a blogger tonight?

Don't expect you to be around on Monday, H, so very best wishes to you and the future Mrs H are being sent your way. They should get there by 3pm on Monday I hope ;-)

    'Everyday' Buddy Holly

    'Rave On' Buddy Holly

    Have a good day everybody

  • Comment number 43.

I''m proposing a compilation album of those songs forever ARFO-nominated that have never/will never be chosen. At the moment the initial track listing for Disc 1 is:

Bama Lama Bama Loo - Little Richard

    25 or 6 to 4 - Chicago

Johnny Be Good - Chuck Berry

    Anything by Foreigner

    Dignity - Deacon Blue

    Twilight - ELO

    Stay with Me - Faces

Its looking like a decent CD. I'd buy it!

  • Comment number 44.

Missed coffee time today, as I was in the garden. There are advantages to working here...

In case I don't get the chance later, may I add my very best wishes to Harry and the soon-to-be Mrs Snapper for Monday's nuptuals. I'm all set to throw confetti over my laptop in your honour...

#24 LOL! Very good John - or should I call you Sir?

Re David Tennant - he is one of my favourite actors and I'm very much looking forward to hearing him when I get the podcast of this afternoon's show. On Mark Kermode's blog recently, he mentioned that David Tennant was one of the few people that made Mark go all star struck. I was wondering, are there any celebrities that would cause/have caused bloggers to become star struck?

    ~X~

  • Comment number 45.

#43 R-p, you need to add Transvision Vamp's "I Want Your Love" to that list.

Thanks for the good wishes re: the nuptials.

Is it time for a little #FF current favourite albums?

One I've been listening to a lot this week is Dylan LeBlanc's "Paupers Field" from 2010. This is the opening track:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFvS4fIGHvE

He has a myspace page at:

    https://www.myspace.com/dylanstunesmusic

I think this might be right up Zoe's alley, if you'll pardon the expression ;0)

  • Comment number 46.

This is the third time I have attempted this - but I think it my fault rather than the techies this time! Keep losing this box when I go back to look at something.

    Deep breaths................

Good morning all - weather is glorious here today.

It is our wedding anniversary and Mr has decreed a day in the garden. He did ask if I wanted to go out but it seems a shame to waste such lovely weather when there is so much to do out in the veg patch.

    ARFO suggestions

MONY MONY by Tommy James and the Shondelles

or FRIDAY ON MY MIND by The Easybeats.

Random top tenuous re David T - the minister who led my trip to the Holy Land in November was friends with DTs father, also a minister, when they both lived on the west coast of Scotland. My minister loves to talk about bouncing Dr Who on his knee as a lad. He was David McDonald in those days. I too am looking forward to that interview.

#44 Bryan Ferry made me go all star struck but I think I've told that story

    Arfo ideas...

'Goodbye, Nothing To Say' by The Javells (Featuring Nosmo King)

'Goin' Down The Road' by Roy Wood

    'Jimmy, Jimmy' by The Undertones

    'Turning Japanese' by The Vapors

'One Week' by Bare Naked Ladies

'Queen Of Hearts' by Dave Edmunds

'Whole Wide World' by Wreckless Eric

    #24 John :-)

How about GOOD VIBRATIONS by THE BEACH BOYS for the ARFO?

I thought David Tennant was rather wonderful in 'Blackpool' with Sarah Parrish and

    David Morrissey ;-)

I'D LIKE TO TEACH THE WORLD TO SING by The New Seekers

as the ARFO please because my kids (daughter with Brownies, son with Beavers) are singing this as the opener to the Scout and Guide Concert in Selkirk this evening? If not, can you wish them luck with their performances, please?

    Thank you.

Jan (very proud mum with tissues at the ready)

#45 Harry - I just had a listen to 'Low' and you're right, it is very much up my alley :D

I think Bob Harris might have played that song before, it certainly sounded a bit familiar to me. I will definitely check out the album, thanks for bringing it to my attention :)

I have been mostly listening to songs from soundtracks this week, or from some of my favourite TV shows from over the years. So not so much an album, but a selection from my iPod, like these...

Goodbye To You - Michelle Branch (used on Buffy The Vampire Slayer)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NERmgwWfnoI&ob=av2n

I Wish I Was The Moon Tonight - Neko Case (used on True Blood)

Tomorrow Is A Long Time - Bob Dylan (used on The Walking Dead)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fg-CIka1L4A&feature=related

Seven Devils - Florence and The Machine (used on a trailer for season 2 of Game of Thrones)

And here is that song that Bob Harris played a few weeks ago, and I love it...

In The Beginning - Todd Snider

My iPod is a strange and wonderful place! :D

  • Comment number 56.

#44 & #49 Deebee & Mo - I went to see David Tennant when he was performing as Hamlet in Stratford-Upon-Avon (also with Patrick Stewart, amongst others) I went on the day after he had just won 'Best Actor' at the National TV Awards, and announced as he received his award, that he would be leaving Doctor Who. It was a day of mixed emotions, as I thought he was amazing as Hamlet, but I was so sad that he wasn't going to be the Doctor for much longer. I wanted to try and get him to sign my programme, but the crowd at the theatre door was crazy. He was very lovely though in the flesh (so to speak!), and speaking of flesh, there wasn't much of that, I've seen more meat on a butcher's pencil!

I'm not sure I'd be star struck, if I met a famous person, I suppose it would depend on who is was. I think if it was someone like David Bowie, for example, I would probably be in open-mouthed awe, but I'd hope that I wouldn't make a pr*t of myself. (BTW I fondly recall Baxter and Bertie's encounter with Mr Jones as was :D)

Reminds me of Ryan Bingham too, I purchased his latest LP - the standout track is the one that was soundtrack to the film Crazy Heart:

I'll look at Zoe's links later - 'cos I'm off now for my usual Fri afternoon off, & as Mr e is working at home, we're off to a pub garden, with his Blackberry (not the fruit kind)...chin chin bloggers!

    #50 Ha de ha

How does one 'turn on and off' an accent like that?

My mum is Scots and lost her accent years ago as she too trod the boards - but my M-in-Law still has hers intact after living abroad for 40+ years!

Luckily I lost my Brumigian one, if I ever had one....in fact, was accused of being a Londoner when I first arrived in Oxford!

  • Comment number 60.

Ooh, forgot about Harry's idea of #ff music.

    This weeks are

'That Ain't My Name' by Big Boy Bloater (New, to me at least. Thanks Craig Charles)

    'Risen' by The Enid (Old)

  • Comment number 61.

#59 re accents: I do it too and it's just ingrained for me. With parents, family and to a lesser extent in Scotland generally - I have a pretty strong Scottish accent. The rest of the time however I'm pure received pronunciation, home counties, middle class. For me it started at school and is automatic, I can't switch it on and off. If my friends hear me talking to my Mum it causes great hilarity. On a smiliar note though, I would find it equally difficult to speak French without a French (ish) accent!

Enjoy your afternoon in the pub garden - sounds wonderful

Harry - I'm not a regular at the weekend either so I'd like to add my best wishes for Monday. I'm sure Helen and yourself will have a wonderful day and I'll raise a virtual glass to the two of you, with the rest of the blog on Monday afternoon.

#53 I enjoyed 'Blackpool' as well, Madchick - great series, and I loved the way they would randomly break into song!

My musical #ff this week is an oldie but goodie - 'Breakaway' by Art Garfunkel. I was listening to it a bit over the weekend - stands the test of time, and I love his lyrical voice. But like Mo, I also enjoy sticking my ipod on shuffle and seeing what comes up. I've got quite a lot on there, including tracks I've forgotten about so I often get a pleasant surprise!

To answer my own question re being star struck, for me it's the anticipation of meeting a famous person that has me all wobbly kneed and dry mouthed. Once I actually speak to them I'm generally fine - this has happened to me a few times when I've been in the company of celebrities, including Richard Hammond and a well known radio person...

    ;o)

John Barrowman is a Scot who has lost his accent - but he can put it back on when he wants to...

    Hi Simon and everyone

Bit late to the table today as extremely busy getting things done as it is my last week here next week, so from 30th March no contract ;( but sods law prevails that in my busiest week I will have to poop off for interviews!

Mmmmmmm i love ginger sponge cake especially with that fondant type cream on top, anyone know of the recipe as I feel a Delia moment coming on?

Also I was going to send my gingerbread men efforts for the gallery but after viewing some already sent on FB which were excellent, I dont think mine are worthy!!!

Watching semi contact KB fights in Kidderminster on Saturday night where all top fighters will be fighting off for £3k, should be great!

    Anyway time for an ARFO:

    1. WALK THIS WAY - Run DMC

    2. COME ON EVERYBODY - Eddie Cochrane

    Have lovely weekends everyone.

I'll be checking out all the tracks listed above this afternoon. There seems to be a lot that are "new" to me.

Accents? John Barrowman is another Scot who seems to be able to switch it on and off. I saw a documentary where he visited his parents who still have broad Scots accents despite livng in the USA for years and he lapsed into it immediately ditching his adopted American drawl.

I myself still carry the very heavy weight of West Midland vowels. I've never made any effort to lose my Black Country accent but I believe it has softened in the 35+ years since I lived there.

#63 Deebee ................. does this mean we are in "alignment"? ;0)

    Walk This Way - Aerosmith

    Good Riddance - Green Day

Anarchy In The UK - Pistols

    #24, Very clever!

Harry, have a happy wedding day!

#65 John Barrowman spent the first 8 years of his life in Scotland, but then relocated to Illinois in the US with his family. I suppose it's understandable that he 'lost' his Scottish accent over time, but still had it around him with his parents accents, and family back in Scotland.

    Good afternoon, everybody.

#45 HtS - I rather enjoyed Dylan LeBlanc,

Have you listened to Heidi Talbot's 'In Love & Light' from 2008?

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=haFgm3IhNm0

It's been around for a few years now, but I keep going back to it.

As for all the coffee break chat...

A few days ago my boss presented me with a couple of packs of coffee that he was not keen to use. He'd been given them by A.N. Other for the same reason.

This morning, since it's Friday, I decided to 'treat' my colleagues and broke out the machine from the back of the dusty cupboard, cleaned it up and brewed up some lovely Vietnamese chocolatey smelling coffee. It tasted a lot better than I expected, but was rather strange-tasting.

To be honest, I think the machine being a bit dusty didn't help, so I'll take the rest home to try out over the weekend.

Good luck with the ARFO's everyone!

And have a great day on Monday, Harry!

#71 JPA - Inside by Stiltskin is a great track, and having already watched The Walking Dead season 2 finale (Shhhhhhh....) I can see how that track fits, especially for a certain character, but I won't say anymore as I don't want to spoil anything.

  • Comment number 75.

Talking of people with/without Scottish accents... Lulu and Sheena Easton spring to mind!

#74 - Oooh Zoe, I think I've got an inkling of what you might be alluding to.Is it summat to do with the discovery of the dead bodies but with no bites and a certain someone dying and then coming back, again with no bites? Can't wait to see the Finale! Is it a doozy?

#76 - Just listening to 5L and I would never have guessed that Charles Darwin was our David! I'm with Simon on that one.

  • Comment number 81.

Don't you think there's a similarity in appearance between David Tennant and Richard Hammond...?

    ;o)

  • Comment number 82.

I had no idea Barrowman was a Scot. Always assumed he was just "over here".

  • Comment number 83.

I love the description of David Tennant as 'girl neutral' ie. whatever their usual 'type', all women quite fancy him :)

So true - I don't do skinny, and as Zoe observed - he really is, but yep, I fancy DT

  • Comment number 84.

#80 JPA - I don't want to say anything that might spoil it for you, but it is a fantastic ending for S2. I would say that you will get some answers, especially relating to something that has been left hanging since the end of the first season...

David Tennant was lovely on the film show, I hope I get to see The Pirates... at some point.

My day is almost over, and then escaping for the weekend. So just wanted to wish Harry and the future Mrs Snapper all the best for your big day on Monday. I'll raise a glass of something fizzy to you, and hope to be at the virtual reception here on Monday.

Good luck with the ARFO everybody - it could be you!

And wishing you all a lovely sunny weekend.

    #85 Glad you do, Harry.

I went to a gig a few years back to hear/see her sing along with Drever/McCusker/Woomble, but she had a sore throat so didn't perform that night.

I bought the album on a whim, to see what I missed, and I'm so glad I did.

  • Comment number 90.

OK bloggers ............... I'm going home early.

Many thanks for all the good wishes; I'll pass on your messages to Mrs Snapper-to-be. It really is wonderful to be part of such a great "family".

I won't be on the blog tomorrow so the next time I'll be here is Tuesday.

If anyone can find some way of crow-barring Jim Croce's "Time in a Bottle" or Bob Dylan's "Forever Young" (Mrs Snapper-to-be's favourites) into the theme on Monday, it would be much appreciated.

So, best of luck with the ARFO requests, have a great weekend, and I'll 'see' you all next week.

    Love to you all!!

#90 All the best Harry - I'm off home on Blackie (so many lovely dry rides home since she came back from the Bike Vet'nary in Batley) thence throw stuff into the Landy & off to Windermere. The frog-based orgy in the pond is getting out of hand. At least with teenagers you can throw a bucket of water over them. The frogspawn didn't appear in quantities until the Equinox - strange, that.
