Can we have some more?
Thanks for all the nice messages on yesterday's blog. We start in the Blockbusters studio today and I write this blog while being driven to the studios in Isleworth for a pilot day. We record show 1 on Thursday and then it's 5-a-day for a long time. Coo gosh indeed. And while on the subject of extra curricular activities, while talking to our book club author Penny Hancock yesterday, the first finished copy of Itch turned up. I restrained my desire to whoop and holler as this would have been inappropriate but it's still an exciting moment. What a great guest today. John Hurt will be here at 6. He's getting a Bafta for outstanding contribution to cinema this weekend and he has so many memorable roles to look back on. He also has a voice which, as a friend remarked, if an Irish coffee could talk it would sound like John Hurt. Evidence on parade from 6 And tunes today to mark the 200th anniversary of CHARLES DICKENS. I would join all those who might mark it by waking around London all day as he did but am otherwise engaged...
So have an appreciated and error-free Tuesday. See you after 5

Really shocked at the news about Gazza. He is but a sapling. Get well soon Gazza and make sure you follow the doctors orders. Hope to see you back here in the very near future.
Thank you to you all for your good wishes. Today has been all aabout logistics and planning. My uncle died on Friday night - my Mum and her other brother were with him which I was pleased about. All so quick - at first the doctors said months, then the next day it was weeks, then days, then hours, all in the space of 3 days. My Mum isn't coping too well. Funeral is next Tuesday in Cromer, so we are going up on Monday, via the cattery, staying with cousins, then returning on Tuesday, bringing my sister back here to give Mum a bit more time with the family. Then, the poppets are coming over from Canada (my uncle was their grandfather) and want to come to us this weekend before they then go up to Norfolk.
Hope all is going well with Deebee's Mum's operation. Been thinking of her all day.

(((Hugs))) So sorry to hear about your uncle, it can happen so quickly that in the end :( We had a similar experience last year with the mister's mum and cousin. I hope the travelling and funeral go as well as these things can.

Zoe, your photos are lovely. And what a great friend Butch must have been :D Thanks for sharing. I have a non working scanner too that I have been meaning for ages to sort out. Definitely back on the to do list!
Alex thoughts and hugs are with you my lovely.
It's half term next week? Already? Haven't they just gone back after Christmas?
Being the childless, cumudgeonly thing that I am, I do not like school holidays! There are children out everywhere spoiling my walks, there is nowhere to park when I go shopping as every parent has taken their offspring to the shops for a day trip and the bare faced cheek of it .. my favourite radio presenters expect time off too! *grin*

Thank you for all the good wishes - you are all lovely! The bad news is they can't do Mum's operation today as they have had a couple of emergencies - a story Katy will be only too familiar with (same hospital, same department). The consultant has told her that one of his colleagues might be able to fit her in tomorrow, if not then it will be Friday. Let's hope it's the former - she really doesn't want to wait around for too much longer and although she puts a brave face on it I know she's very anxious about the whole thing. They are letting her stay in though, which is good.
Like others have said, I was shocked to hear Gazza's news. It's more common than you might think in younger folks - a similar thing happened to a pal of mine about 5 years ago. She's fine now. Get well soon Gazza!
Alex, hugs and best wishes to you and your family, especially your Mum. And the poppets too - it's a big thing to go through at their age. I'm so glad they get to spend a few days with you and the mogpoppets.
Now, has somebody got some good news...?

I've had a good thing happen today. Although if I think about it too much it probably means I am breaking the law in some way but ... I ordered myself a nice bottle of my favourite perfume online as I didn't get any for Christmas and needed a bit of a cheer up. It's on the expensive side so as a little treat I just bought a 30ml bottle. When it came today they had sent a 100ml bottle obviously by mistake but still charged me for the smaller size :) I know it is naughty but it made my day!
Anyhoo, enjoy the show xxx

I missed the show but I have read back.
I can't believe it about Gazza. I think it was Shona this morning who posted the news - I thought it was one of Gazza's jolly japes.
Please - will those who can contact him in any way - please give him my love and tell him that I'm thinking about him and am anxious for him - please?
If he is on the mend as MTF indicated - Gazza - would you like Hospital Radio to play for you BARBIE GIRL by Aqua?
Tell him that too, please!
