Thanks for your concerns about the plumbing. My temporary fix seems to have done the trick for the present and a more permanent solution is being sought.

Morning all. Merry Christmas Simon & the Mayo family (real and radio-land). I applied for tickets for live Wittertainment, but without success, so I shall be spending the better part of the afternoon watching and listening from rainy Cheshire.



As a 'blogger' for the last 5 months I'd like to wish everyone here all the very best for the festive season. I've had a great few months - it's been lovely to be welcomed so enthusiastically and the blog unfailing brightens my day. As for my 7 (I think) menshes have been unfailingly thrilling!

But after being unable ter eat or drink due to the swelling of me throat and the agony.... AGONY.... Ave lost alotta weight all!!!!!!!!

In fact the Bingo Star spare tyre very much 'as gotta puncture for Xmas!!!!!!!!!

The only problem.... Mondee whilst at work trucking and delivering Easter eggs ter the supermarkets (100% TRUE) in me aych GV.... Me underpants kept falling down inside me trousers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All damn it day a was 'aving ter pull 'em up out of sight!!!!!!!!!

Then Tuesdee after swapping me underpants for a most tight pair..... A then found me trosuers kept slipping down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At one point nearly ending up around me kness whilst pushing a 'eavy cage of Easter eggs inter a store!!!!!!!!!

The leader who's 'ealth is failing is bringing talk of 'is son becoming the new president!!!!!

If this 'appens I see BIG trouble!!!!!!!

I've seen it so many times before that the son of a leader, who normally isn't as clever 'as 'is father, even if 'is father is a crazy dictator, normally it's the father who is more clever... The son is normally somebody who 'as been brought up in a rich kid type of upbringing and is less wise than 'is father!!!!!

Yet if 'e gets 'is father's power.... Then 'e will try & out do 'is father by basically doing bigger things.... Often of which are very unstable/ cause big problems!!!!!!!

This was very evident with the Bush family of 2 U.S presidents!!!!!!

Son as I 'eard George W Bush was the son of the former president.... The first thing I said is this president will cause BIG problems... And look what 'appened!!!!!



And bang on cue the leader of North Korea 'as died making it perfect timing for The Mayans prediction!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!



Sadly unlike William 'aug's talk of 'oping the new 27 year old leader of North Korea, and the son of the former leader, engaging with the international community and the 'ope of an opportunity of change for North Korea..... Sadly it doesn't work like that in the real world.

The son of the former leader will not undo all what 'is father did.... 'e will want ter do one better than 'is father.

And with the world's 5th largest army at 'is disposal.... Worrying times!!!!!!!



I also see Europe finally collapsing next year which the leaders there keep delaying the almost inevitable!!!!!!!!!!!!



And the possibilty of the mad scientists in Switzerland who are messing with things they don't fully understand possibly sucking us all inter a black 'ole!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very unlikely but from a programme ave watched.... There's a small chance, even though we don't fully underatand 'ow black 'oles work... They are messing with the matter that they think surrounds/ is inside black 'oles!!!!!!!!

MADNESS when people are still 'ungry in the world... While mad scientist mess with things they don't fully know what they are messing with!!!!!!!

It's a bit like real life Frankenstein but worse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think I am going to get much time to participate over the next few days so just wanted to say:



Thank you to all you lovely bloggers who have made me feel so welcome here since I took my first leap into the blogosphere in October. As always, I am completely in awe of your musical knowledge and have unashamedly borrowed your suggestions to supplement my own music collection.



Beyond checking out your music choices, I have really enjoyed taking a very small part in your discussions - where else does such a wide-ranging debate occur and what topics you have covered since I have been lurking!



I haven't managed a mensh but a highlight for our family of 2011 was when our 9-year old got through to ARF and despite being in a real pickle about the prospect of starting a new school and making new friends, mentioned in his conversation with Simon, an achievement for each and every one of our family. He said afterwards that he had felt brave enough to do it because 'Simon was so friendly'. That sums up Drivetime for us. Thank you Simon, Matt, Rebecca and Sally (and Nigel Thursday as my boys call you) for all that you have done this year - you deserve all the awards you can get!



I hope that you and your families have the best Christmas and send you good wishes for, above all, a healthy and happy 2012.

Just spent a frustrating morning doing what would normally only take me about an hour - picking up a handful of groceries from the Rose that Waits. Why oh why do people feel the need to fill up their trolleys with a month's worth of food and drink? The shops will be open again on Boxing Day, for goodness sake!

Afternoon all, a little late arriving today! Busy trying to cram a days work into 4 hours to try and get away a little early, but not having much success!



Managed to catch last nights show in it's entirety as I was in the car for the duration. And very good it was too. I must admit to having been one of those over enthusiastic youngsters a little too keen to get at the pressies myself a good few years ago! My brother and I took full advantage of dozing parents, we had been good enough to wait until after lunch was out of the way but just couldn't wait any longer 8-)



Had a brief scan through and would happily second FesiveFlo's STEP IN TO CHRISTMAS or Mandys SPACEMAN CAME TRAVELING but for a non festive starter how about

Anyways, must crack on, still plenty to do :(

Hurrah! Survived Sainsbugs! I echo Deebee'scomment re people filling their trolleywith a month of food. Why??? I turned into a trolley snob as I looked at the junk people were piling in.



Now to make the chocolate chestnut pots - dear Nigella. Chuck everything in a food processor. Done. Yummy dessert made.

Loving the stories about Julian the plumber, the one-eyed donkey and the dry cleaner. We once had a vicar called Julian. I wonder if they are all the same person?



I think I had a slow dance last night with someone who said her name was Toots Dubois? Can that be? Or was it just the creme de menthe?



Lots of lovely festive messages from lots of lovely festive people. So I will add mine. It's a joy to be here almost every day (I mean being here almost every day, not it's a joy almost every day and not a joy on some days!), with such a bunch of fun-loving and kind-hearted people, and restores my faith in humanity on a daily basis.

#97 JBG, I believe that Toots was on the fringes of the party under the "nom de noël" of "Fairy Tinkerbell". By the time I joined in she was on her way home. Sorry to have missed her.
