It's a good thing my new window was fitted this week otherwise the plywood blocking the hole may have collapsed under the weight of water and I could have been looking at a new indoor pool rather than a kitchen!

Just considering when and where to take the dogs walking this morning. Around the corner to the small, rather boring grassy area they call a park, or a 15 min walk up to the heath. Both have advantages and disadvantages. The park is good to escape the rain as it cascades off my so called waterproofs, but the heath is better for scenery and for the dogs. Only one way to find out .........

I had a 5.15am start today, which involved driving GoodChild#1 to the designated assembly point. The things we do.



I remember 1979 and Herbie Rides Again. And the rain too. After much anticipation, sitting through the Pearl&Dean commercials, KiaOra in hand, the film began. And promptly finished 10 mins later when the roof started leaking due to the torrential conditions outside. Thank you, Great Yarmouth ABC Cinema.

Ah yes, holidays spent in a caravan with rain pitter pattering down on the roof, I had a couple of those. My mum and step-dad have a static caravan at Ingomels, so I suppose I could do it all again, if I wanted to!



It's very grey and damp here, but not raining at the moment. I'm waiting for the electrician to finish fitting our new lighting, so I'm just faffing about on my iPod until I can start the housework... It's a life of non-stop glamour and excitement here...

Morning all !!! Not too bad weather wise here in the lancashire region, a tiny bit of blue up there and watery sunshine to complement the damp ground.



Just returned from a school assembly where subject was baptisem. Cherub played mother to her anatomicly correct baby doll being baptised. Afterwards one of the other mothers approached me and giggled 'I understand your doll has a WILLY'!

I wont have my 'plastic grand-child' laughed at! :-)

Apparently its good to introduce annotomical dolls at an early age to remove the 'novelty' of bottoms later on. Worked well on my girl but the rest of the class clearly avoided that route.

I also spend time in 'another place' online and spookily enough there was some discussion a week or so ago re. limericks.

It wasn't led by me - my contributions are rare nowadays ... but some very clever people who know about these things were saying that although most of us connect the limerick with Edward Lear who popularised the form, a chap called Legman compiled the largest and most scholarly anthology and held that the TRUE limerick as a folk form is always ribald, even obscene, and cites similar opinions by Arnold Bennett and GB Shaw describing the clean limerick as a periodic fad and object of magazine contests, rarely rising above mediocrity ..

Good ARFternoon Each! Ah, those quondam caravan holidays of childhood, the delights of a Skegness day curtailed by the British Summer weather. The compendium of games would make one of it's annual appearances, and as usual druaghts would be the order of the day. The gloom would force Dad out to buy new mantles for the gas lighting, whilst Mum cooked the hastily purchased tinned food. The fish and chips, candy floss and ice cream would have to wait. 'I'm sure it'll brighten up. There's a bit of blue over that way.' This from Mum, re-iterating something my ever hopeful Granny would have said. 'If there's enough blue in the sky to make a sailors suit, it's going to be fine'.



Anyroad, enough of that, what we want is some seaside ROCK, to brighten a dull day. How's about...

Anyway am not gonna take the easy way out.... By going on the sick at work... (well not yey anyway) Even though maybe a should!!!!!!

They say for a bad back... keep active.... So a will carry on working!!!!!!

Just gotta be careful ter not do any 'eavy lifting/ pushing!!!!!



Also the one thing a don't know if other bloggers find.... when yer ill & stay indoors yer seem more of a baby at 'ome!!!!!!

Pain feels worse if yer stay indoors and rest!!!! It's like this with any illness!!!!

Go outside and yer seem/ feel thougher and somehow the pain seems less - know what am sayin'!!!!!!!

Yer just nataurally seem ter pull yersen together & put up a tough front!!!!!

#37 Katy, I've had the Legman book on Limericks several times. I think I mentioned last week that my favourite on the subject is the one by William Baring-Gould.



If Lord Ammo is unavailable ( although I bet he'd jump at the chance of judging that lesser literary prize, the Booker) why not ask B&B? We know he is a man of infinite taste, wisdom and, perhaps more appropriately, he has a tremendous sense of the absurd - perfectly qualified, I'd say.
