For anyone that hasn't heard it, the Jackson Browne two song session on this week's OGWT 40 show was rather nice. And there's a great contrast between Jackson apparrently having no recollection of his first appearance on the show in the first series and Brian May who seems to have perfect recall of absolutely everything that ever happened to Queen. As befits the holder of the archivist role for the band I guess.

Hopeful next week will be calmer with daughter one is back at university, the newly driving daughter two is at school and I have no trips to southern areas planned as yet.

lovely sunny day - maybe Autumn has decided to step back and let Summer in for one last brief smile? I do love this time of year. Drove out of Portsmouth this morning along the Eastern Road and saw the most glorious sunrise; looking out across the bay towards Hayling Island, what I saw was a pale blue sky criss-crossed by vapour trails illuminated by a pale yellow Sun. What a photo that would have made. Never mind.



Word for today = GOLDEN in cleberation of that lovely, warming Sun of ours!

Friday already, my goodness where has the week gone.



Being crowned has certainly made things go quickly, I have of course dispensed regal wisdom to one and all, passing judgement on disputes, and sentence on vagabonds, miscreants and people playing inappropriate music.



But its only for a week, so the dungeons are to be emptied inmates reunited with their prized copy of 'Agadoo' or 'Rivers of Babylon' and I'm ready to go back to being a 'umble serf,

I once went to a 'bat evening' at our local country park, we had a talk from an expert and a chance to look at a pipistrelle bat up close, it was cute and tiny! Then we went for a walk around the park, in the dark with torches to try and spot other bats, we didn't see any though! We have bats around here though, I often stand outside at dusk to see them circling round the houses, then swooping in for the moths.

We had pipistrelle bats in the loft in our old house. When the builders were installing the central heating, I had a baby bat fall through a pipe hole and on to the bed beside me, one night. I don't know who was more surprised, me or it! After trying to carefully catch the tiny creature, I made poor Mr Mcw take it back by crawling through the loft space, in the dark, amongst the spiders and mice! Needless to say, that ceiling was the first to be replastered!
