On your knees
Made it to London on time yesterday (that whole rammed commuter thing is something I am happy to avoid-so many interesting aromas!) to get to see the new Tom Hanks/Julia Roberts movie 'Larry Crowne' at 10.30. It's a comedy drama where Larry (Tom) reinvents himself by going back to college where Julia is teaching but in a doomed marriage. Who can guess what happens?
Then to 5 Live for a brief appearance with Mark K on Richard Bacon's programme to talk 10 years of film shows. A strange experience to be a guest on your old show. We have another show on this theme on Friday with Stephen Fry, Jason Isaacs, Michael Sheen and gang. We record the chat with Mr Fry tomorrow and is always something to look forward too. Then there's the small matter of a show with all of the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra but that can wait till next week...
Today we welcome Annie Nightingale to Drivetime. Annie has been at Radio 1 for more than 40 years, is its longest serving presenter and was its first female DJ. She's done a fascinating film for BBC4 on her life 'Bird On The Wireless' and she'll tell you about it today after 6.
And as a football club chaplain says it makes a difference if you pray for your team how about PRAYING&PRAYERS for some interesting tunes on the show today...
Have a stress-free and smile-filled Wednesday. See you after 5.

What a great theme for today, not only cos of all the FAB tunes you lot have suggested but also as I personally am invigilating in a room full of oral exam candidates waiting to give oral as it were - who have suddenly decided I am sure to take up some kind of religion as their revising has perhaps not been quite as thorough as it should be...
I don't know how Lord Ammo and team will manage to select just a few from the bunch, but would like to 2nd the choices already made, to wit:
PERSONAL JESUS - Depeche Mode and
HALLELUJAH by Jeff Buckley (NOT the X factor/pop idol woman please!)
OR Beach Boys - 'GOD ONLY KNOWS' such a perfect sound for what will be a sunny afternoon by then, according to the BBC weather people (!)
Have a nice day y'all and PRAY for the candidates sitting in the room with me!

If you're interested (and it's something we've never done before*) there's a thread on the CLP Bloggers FB page (on the discussions board) - please feel free to add your name: the more the merrier as far as we're concerned.
* We thought it would be nice to have a Bloggers Picnic. A daytime event, famiy friendly, with picnic hampers, games, walks etc. We do have a plan for the evening, which is dependant on numbers.
It'd be fantastic to unit the blogs, methinks!!

Deevs, I would have loved to have come on 30th July but we're attending a family wedding on that day. In KatyMac's neck of the woods, as it happens. And I second Alex's offer of help with the CiN admin. You did a sterling job last year, but don't feel you have to do everything yourself.
Rev, of course we've missed you! It's good to 'see' you again.
Welcome to any newbies!

An anthropologist went to study a far-flung tropical island.
He found a guide with a canoe to take him upriver to the remote site where he would make his observations. About noon on the second day of travel up the river they began to hear drums. The anthropologist asked his guide, "What are those drums?"
The guide turned to him and said, "Drums okay, but VERY BAD when they stop."
As they travelled the drums grew louder and louder.
The anthropologist was nervous, but the guide merely repeated, "Drums okay. Drums not bad. When drums stop, then very bad!"
Then the drums suddenly stopped.
Terrified, the anthropologist yelled to the guide: "The drums stopped! What now?"
The guide crouched down, covered his head with his hands and said, "Guitar solo."

The preacher grabbed Dewey by the hand and pulled him aside.
The Pastor said to him, "You need to join the Army of the Lord!"
Dewey replied, "I'm already in the Army of the Lord, Pastor."
The Pastor questioned, "How come I don't see you except at Christmas and Easter?"
Dewey whispered back, "I'm in the secret service.
