Morning all and welcome to bloggers old and new. Well done for making it this far. I love Thursdays though I have little evidence for why I should feel like this. Is it the proximity to the weekend? It's Bob Harris day? Maybe a decades old reaction to Blue Peter day(and I think Robinson Crusoe) on TV. Maybe a bit of all those. Anyway, hooray for Thursday.
Top blog contributions yesterday. What an education experience this blog is, I'm sure Lord Reith would approve. At this point I would sing you "Northern sky" by Nick Drake, our showstopper from yesterday. Then read you in Just by e e Cummings which has the line 'And it's spring, when the world is puddle-wonderful.'
A wonderful phrase no? Let's try and use it at least once today...
Here's hoping your world is 'puddle-wonderful' today...
Loved Jon Ronson yesterday, he really is a one off. No one else could write a book on psychopaths and make it as entertaining and engaging as Jon does. And as he mentioned yesterday, a movie has already been agreed. Check out "The Psychopath Test" should you get the chance.
Nige does his thing with lentils and aubergines today. Matt will not be looking forward to it but I love the aubergine so I'll happily have his portion unless Sally gets there first.
And songs today please for KING ARTHUR AND THE KNIGHTS OF THE ROUND TABLE. And that includes CAMELOT MERLIN, EXCALIBUR, GUINEVERE, LANCELOT, THE LADY IN THE LAKE and all that lot. New series coming on Channel 4 starring Eva Green and Joseph Feinnes. Enough already.
Have a noble and chivalrous Thursday, see you after 5.

Aaah Lord Ammo, looking forward to Nige's creation tonight as I too like Aubergines. Not very good at cooking them, though. Always manage to stay rubbery. Can any of our Knowledgeable Blogpoppets help me out with some hints. My mum has tried her best to impart her cooking know-how onto me, but alas to no avail. #7 Alice - the best way I've found of cooking aubergines is to slice them, brush with a little olive oil and pop them under the grill. You can then add them to whatever sauce you're doing. Oven roasting them also works quite well. Must admit I have mixed feelings about today's recipe - I LOVE aubergines, but on the couple of occasions I've eaten lentils they have disagreed with me quite violently *shudders*

I'll report it again, thanks Alex...
All blogs and messageboards across the whole BBC have the 3 minute

The 3 minute delay is there to stop the servers from being overloaded.
There are hundreds of blogs, messageboards and comment areas that all
use the same comments system. The 3 minute delay encourages people to
type longer comments that have some editorial value (ie not just 'hi
there!') - as the idea of blogs is that people use them to comment on
what the blogger has said, rather than use them as a chat room. We do
understand that people like to use the blogs to chat to other people,
but that's not the primary purpose of the blogs, and we can't make it
work as a great chat room, to the detriment of people who want to post
content related comments on other blogs, like news, sport and so on.
Hope this helps!

Morning Ianswife - welcome to this 'ere rambling blog. Hope you can stick around and join in the fun and frolics.
Peta - thank you for explaining the reason for the 3 minute delay. I'm now not feeling so guilty for posting rambling comments. the only problem I have is sometimes my comments are too long and there is a problem with it posting. I shall now err on the side of caution and go for a ramble but not too a long one.
Bit too rambly - having to post in chunks again. Back in about 3 mins ;)

Can't remember the name of the choon (it may have been 'Babe') but I do remember enjoying listening to it. I have the Foreigner 'Four' album on vinyl which I played 'til it was nearly frayed at the edges.
Meant to say earlier, I really enjoyed Jon Ronson (or was it Ron Jonson? ;) ) last night. As I said yesterday, not normally the kind of thing I'd read but will definitely be purchasing 'The Men Who Stare at Goats'. Not sure I'd give the 'Psycopath Test' a read - I'm very suggestible and would probably convince myself I have psycopathic tendencies. Now then, where did I leave my weapons of mass destruction? I'm off to conquer the world - I'm going to be great and everyone will just love me - hope I don't get bored on the way ;)

I have njoyed todays theme - reminded me of lots of much loved books that I need to re-read. I might even go back to basics and read the full Morte d'Arthur - I have it at home. There are also the T.H White books - Sword in the Stone etc.
We have had several holidays in Glastonbury and Tintagel with Mr P kindly obliging my Arthurian interest. The ex Mr P and I had an encounter with a ghost dog in Tintagel and there is a local legend that says that Merlin appears in the form of a dog to help people in trouble. We were in a cave under the cliff (good place for a cave - better than on top of the cliff) and the tide was coming in rapidly. This dog appeared and kept barking and dancing around us, edging us back to the entrance and out on to the beach. We could see no owner and when we looked back for the dog, it wasn't there. Uncanny.

At 13:56 9th Jun 2011, Harry the Snapper wrote:#88 Toots, where to start? Well, the first book I read on King Arthur was a Puffin paperback by Roger Lancelyn Green. It got me hooked on the legends but may be a little too juvenile. Mary Stewart's trilogy, as I said above, which starts with The Crystal Cave, is very readable and a number of blogpoppets have recommended Marion Zimmer Bradley's The Mists of Avalon. If you want realism, Bernard Cornwell's Warlord trilogy is superb, that begins with The Winter King.

#92 Toots, I would recommend Mists of Avalon. It is a good read and whilst it doesn't exactly follow the legend, it has the core. By the way, Mr P heard your mensh in the car last night and it was the first thing he said when I saw him -"Toots got a mention! Whoop!" Really made me smile.
