Freshly returned from Wednesday's blog.



No ARF suggestion.



Just want to say thank you to whoever (whomever!?!?) put the Parprika Pork Recipe on the blog. (I have a sneaking suspicion it was Billie). Made it for Dinner last night and it went down a treat. Well, with the boys anyway (notoriously picky).

Hubby thought it needed more spice but then the boys wouldn't have eaten it so 3 outta 4 ain't bad.

#17 Katy, definitely better live but I think that's probably true for most music. In fact, IMO, most experiences in life are improved when shared (except, perhaps, a Melton Mowbray pork pie!)

Christy Moore does not seem to fit in with 'Drivetime', but I don't know why. Since 24th March 2009, Moore has been played 14 times across all of Radio 2's output, including 5 plays for 'Ride On', but not once on 'Drive' by any of it's various presenters. Perhaps Harry or LuciesMum could become to Christy what MTF is to ELO.

Paul of Sheffield #21... I wonder why Christy Moore has never been played on Drivetime! As you said, maybe Harry and I should be to Christy what MTF is to ELO.



When you look at Katy's list of ARF songs, they are almost all of the same 'ilk' (or whatever that word is) lots of Who, Springsteen, Queen, Zeppelin etc and no ELO or Christy Moore.... it's a pity the bloggers can't have a poll and 'vote' for the ARF song now and again!!!!!



Who decides what's played anyway? Same for the songs through the show? Some are played regularly and whenever I and several friends have rung and got through, we have never been called back... maybe because we are wanting songs that don't have a cat in hell's chance of being played as they don't fit in, just like ELO and Christy Moore don't fit in with the first song on a Friday!!!

I spent the morning catchimg up with some stuff on iPlayer, first I watched 'The Crimson and the White' which I rather liked, it was a tad *ahem* citrus-y in places ;) and rather dark in tone, but I liked the underlying themes. Then I listened to ep 3 of Act Your Age, nice to hear Tom O'Connor but the others were a bit hit and miss for me :/

#34 LuciesMum, I don't see why Christy Moore isn't played on Drivetime unless it's because Simon and the production team don't like him. It will never be played as ARFO because, as you can see from the list, they're looking for a particular kind of song.



I think the final word on what gets played on BBC Radio lies with the producer although there must be input from the rest of the team. I've heard Chris Evans asking (almost begging) for his producer's permission to play a song.



I don't understand why Radio2 has a Playlist. It seems to me, the idea of a list of songs that will be promoted (relentlessly!) goes against the fundamental precept that the BBC does not advertise commercial material.
