My, what a big playlist you have.
The Suffolk sunshine and blackbirds (lovely),crows (not so lovely) and pigeons (horrible) accompany this blog construction. I hope your weekend was a belter. Mine was one of football and carbohydrates. The football was the Spurs/Stoke match on Saturday (glorious one minute, agonising the next) and the carbs come from the usual bread/chips/beer sources (always a delight). A gentle beach walk or 2 has, I'm sure, worked it all off and I'm as fit and chipper as I'll ever be for another fine week of Drive. The A12 permitting of course.
Today we welcome the wonderfully talented Michael Sheen to Drivetime. The star of Frost/Nixon, The Damned United, Underworld and Twilight:New Moon is about to star in and produce an enormous production in his native Port Talbot. Starting on Good Friday and finishing on Easter Sunday, it sounds like a sort-of Passion without being very religious. Which is, you have to admit, quite a challenge. The people of Port Talbot are most of the cast and crew but it'll be Michael who grabs the headlines and I'm really pleased he's on Drivetime today. He's mastered so many voices in his key roles that it almost comes as a surprise when his natural Welsh voice emerges in conversation. Check him out today.
And tunes I think, on the subject of FAIRY TALES. As I mentioned here on Friday,Red Riding Hood is out, a retelling of the old story and there are many more fables on the way. 'Beastly' is a version of Beauty and the Beast and Hansel and Gretal is imminent. So too Jack the Giant Killer and 2 rival Snow Whites. Plenty to go at there I think. Your FAIRY TALE oldies welcome.
Have an optimistic and encouraging Monday, see you after 5.

I have loved his interpretations of Kenneth Williams (Fantabulosa) Brian Clough (The Damned United) David Frost (Frost and Nixon) and Tony Blair (The Deal, The Queen & The Special Relationship) But he does more than a mere impersonation, he inhabits them and brings them to life as fully rounded and flawed individuals. It annoys me that people dismiss him as an impersonator, I hope he'll get more recognition in the future. I think I read somewhere that he was going to be giving his Hamlet on stage this year, I would love to see that, as I saw him in Amadeus at the Sheffield Lyceum years ago and would love to see him on stage again :)

Now listen here. I am still cherishing all the wonderful marvellous inspiring goodwill that you conveyed to me before. Please don't feel you have to repeat all this. I have more than enough to sustain me.
I won't mention it again because it's a whole week away - plus, there's always the chance it may not happen. I have heard they saved the life of the emergency that took my slot - 7 hours of surgery. How magnificent is that?
Some musings ...
.. this may be a 'quiet week' - a few of our chatterboxes are otherwise engaged - BertieandBaxter at the London Book Fair [hope my daughter drops by to say hello to him], Tootsy Bootsy is with her family in Scotland, Deebee is Big Appling it ... etc etc. Others, like Moppet are just plain busy.
I'm not going anywhere for a few days so could well make a nuisance of myself. I can feel a totally pointless list coming on [Noooooo!- I hear from Mr of Sheffield] ..
Zoe m'dear - your post in fb about the relentless cheerful bank holidaying that occurs at this time of year made me stop and think - you may have noticed that I'm not one to be 'told' what I should be thinking and feeling - eg: sun/beach/bbq doesn't whip me up into the frenzy of sheep-like excitement it seems to do for normal people .. anyway, just wanted to say that I completely understand that one man's meat is another man's .. etc etc. You are in my thoughts and if you can get into here for a spell now and again, I hope we can be the cup that cheers.
xx

I'll have you know, though, that I quite like a list, and indeed developed a marked one on Saturday, after my own lack of sheep(Well, Rams, actually) based excitement. Sorrows drowned, etc. I suspect that Mr Worsley, who on Saturday would have been of the opposite persuasion, was just ambivalent.

At 16:48 11th Apr 2011, Our Zoe wrote:#85 Thanks Katy :) I'm just being a grouch though, I shouldn't wish any time away and I know the coming Bank Holidays will being a lot of pleasure to many. It's different for us because the twins need their routine, and when there are lots of holidays all together like this it can make things very difficult, with increased undesirable behaviours and regression in their progress :( Like you say one man's meat is another man's poison!
Last week we spent the day with a family member who is terminally ill, and as well as being heart-breakingly sad that we will lose him, it was also inspiring to see the courage and good humour he has in the face of it all. He said that a good day is when he asks himself if he has gotten as much out of it as he possibly can, and can honestly answer yes. This is why I feel I really shouldn't wish time away, because some people would do anything for more of it!
All the best to you Katy for next Monday, I won't go on but will keep you in my thoughts xxx

I hope, as per our discussion a few weeks ago, that a suitable deputy has been selected :/ My hopes aren't high though...

And he is going to be a mysterious 'voice' in the Neil Gaiman penned episode of Doctor Who, as Simon didn't get around to asking him about it.
