Great to hear Robert Plant on Chris' show. I feel like I've been listening to him all my life.



I'm not going to request a track (still can't believe last night's success) but I'd like to suppurt B&B; we don't hear enough Mott the Hoople on radio.

Simon, back pain is pure evil. A word from the wise ... my back problems are always triggered by the wrong chair - sitting slumped on the sofa/armchair in the wrong position, or , more commonly, the wrong position at your desk, especially if you're always reaching out with one hand on a mouse or to twiddle all those buttons in the studio. It creeps up on you, puts your back under strain without you noticing, and then, "Ping!", it will snap at the slightest little thing, like emptying the dishwasher or sneeezing.



Don't twist, don't hunch, don't get stuck in one position. Be kind to your back.



Which leads me nicely to today's ARFO suggestions, which might just reflect what you're feeling at the moment.

#12 I love the Guardian crosswords as does my wife. I get the paper everyday but do the crosswords online to leave her a free run. There's a comments section attached to each one and it used to be quite genial but there has been some very nasty squabbling recently. I just do the crossies now.

#9 - Thanks Harry, and Mott are great fun, great style, and under-played, so here's hoping!



Having suffered back problems for years Simon, my advice is to find two or three children under the age of six, lie on the floor face down, and have them step onto your ankles and walk the full length up to your head before they climb off. It does wonders for the back. Sadly, my helpers are all over six foot tall now and too heavy to help. One word of advice though - tell them that when they get to the top, step off carefully AND NO JUMPING. I learned that to my peril quite early on. But it works, and it's free, and the kids love it. Afterwards you feel fantastic!

Ha! Mo, Long lies - a phrase that raised an eyebrow or two when I used it a few years ago in these 'ere parts - apparently it's not a phrase used in The Shire, not sure about elsewhere south of the border. I stood corrected. They can't take away my accent tho'! Been away from home for 20-odd years now and I'm happy to say, I still have my accent, although it has been toned down a bit to assist with the locals' understanding. ;)



Harry - woo hoo and whoop whoop on your mensh last night - the first one is always special. I didn't manage to hear the show but will try to listen at a time more convenient.

Morning Simon, glad to hear the back is a little improved. JBG is right, its all about the way you sit. Do the Beeb not have 'risk assessors' ? hubbs was one at HMRC is a former life I can get him to come round and assess you. Your arms need to be at right angles so your chair needs to be the right hight - and once it is, dont let ANYONE fiddle with it.

Hello again! Still trickling by - we may get to fifty posts by the time the show starts eh? JbG - you're right: that Ricky Scaggs track was insane, but great fun. As for more country being on DT, I think there's a lot more country and folk around generally, as the routine "pop" music scene (that word dates me) is so moribund. Used to be that pop music was eclectic, cool, funky, inspiring, fun... all the things it nowawdays ain't (barring, of course, several notable exceptions), and more people are finding the kind of wit and song-writing skill and passion and style in what used to be more minority genres in the UK. That's my MA thesis on the subject anyway. On a more mundane note - when is Pancake Tuesday?? Have I missed it?

This time yesterday there were over 350 posts. Who is on holiday???



On the positive side, it must improve ones chances for ARF.

I only caught the tail end of that that "Enjoy Yourself" version by Coope, Boyes and Simpson for the Folk Awards preview show but thought it sounded fantastic with thei voices blending like that.



Barry Coope sings a mean harmony. Saw him with John Tams at the Borderline once, and although Tams had a serious cold and sore throat, which made it through the gig with the help of a medicinal snifter or six, he and Barry both sang their hearts out. To hear them sing "Lay Me Low" is one of life's pleasures.



I think Simon's idea to get Robert Plant to sit in for Bob sometime when Bob's off is a superb idea. Radio 2 should make it happen!



Probably too late for an ARF suggestion so will keep my powder dry (or at least no wetter than usual) until next week :-).

The men in my life can take the mouthwash* out of the bathroom cupboard but for some reason cannot but it back. Opting instead to leave said mouthwash on the sink side instead of putting it back where they got it from. Why is this?

There's a local band here in Cumbria, The Olly Alcock Band, with a female, and blonde, saxophonist. She's superb! They play some great blues.
