Dampness and the Blues
And a very good Monday morning to all DT bloggers, I hope your weekend was everything you wanted it to be. it's a damp one here but splendid anyway.
Inspired by Nigel's Veggie Balti, and the arrival of 20 friends, I decided to spend Saturday devoted to chopping. And then more chopping. And just to round the evening, a little more chopping. It all ended in a big pot and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Compliments all round and quite a few glances at spouses intended to mean 'why can't you do that?' Maybe I've lost friends after all. (Mind you I don't remember Nigel mentioning the wind factor on this one. A gale warning would have been appropriate)
That all meant I spent Saturday listening to the radio and while enjoying Graham's new show, found myself drawn to 5Live's Ryder Cup coverage. I don't get golf really and can't be bothered with all the dress codes and formality. But I loved it all and was drawn into every put and drive, a top job from my old colleagues. And young Chris Evans was obviously having the time of his life too!
Today we welcome Cyndi Lauper to Drivetime, the 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' star has done a blues album "Memphis Blues' and on a Paul Jones day too. Cyndi after 6.
And I think we should do RAIN oldies. Let's here it for precipitation. RAIN has featured in stacks of tunes so let's get the ball squelching...(and don't bother with Supertramp-played on Friday!)

PoS - a complete career change might be a radical way to address my Monday blues but I will put it under careful consideration!! You have made me smile so thank you!

KatyMac!! Where's my 150 post hat? Just 'cos it was a weekend blog does that mean I have to miss out? ;o)
#84 Alex, is there REALLY a song called 'Patricia the Stripper'?! And was she the 'lady in red' he sang about so tortuously? My cure for Monday-itis? Only 4 more days till the weekend...!
Tortie, so glad you had a great weekend. We went to London for my *ahem* birthday last year and saw the Lion King. It was fantastic!

Dennis is a menace
With his "Anyone for tennis?"
And he'd beseech me to come keep the score
And Maude said, "Oh Lord, I'm so terribly bored"
I really can't stand it anymore...
I'm going...out to dinner
With a gorgeous singer
To a little place I found
Down by the key
Her name is Patricia
She calls herself delicia
And the reason isn't
Very hard to see
She said, God made her a sinner
Just to keep fat men thinner
As they tumble down in heaps
Before her feet
They hang around in groups
Like battle weary troops
One can often see them
Queue right down the street
You see, Patricia Or Delicia
Not only is a singer
She also removes all her clothing
For Patricia
Is the best stripper in town...
Etc, etc. From the album Spanish Train And Other Stories by Chris De Burgh.
When he was still rather entertaining.

Going to go check out the Tickled Pink stuff in the bottom slapping supermarket after 5 - an annual event!
My boss left me a note late Friday which said "hang in there" - d'ya think she knows how I feel!?!?

Right, I have to go and convince our Facilities department to courier someone's shoes to them. It is the only way said person will return their laptop have unceremoniously quit by text message last week and leaving me in the doo doo. So, I go to battle and will then head on home using a variety of transport methods depending on the mood of our striking brethren. I might then go straight to bed and put the duvet over my head and wait for Tuesday. OR, I will pick up discarded Evening Standards, Metros and other free papers and play at being a newsagent.
Either way, I may poop by later.

the police were knocking at the door,
Oh a Saturday night, 1924"
