Sorry I haven't been on since last Friday - have difficulty getting on here during the working day (buuuuuuusyyyyy this week). I hope MobileToothFairy had a good birthday last Friday - I know I did. I have failed spectacularly to reply to all the Facebook messages of good will, though it is most certainly still on the list of things to do.



I hope everybody has a good weekend - I will be travelling up to Rockingham tonight, and camping there ready to marshal for the British Touring Cars this weekend. If anybody happens to find themselves there, I'll be in the pit lane so keep an eye out ;-)

Simon, please ignore any previous requests for ARF made by myself. I suspect that you wont find this difficult.It has occurred to me that it is SAINT GEORGES DAY, and in light of this I would like to change my request from "Jazz, Delicious Hot, Disgusting Cold" by The Bonzo Dog Doodah Band, which was plainly a ridiculous idea anyway, and replace it with "Cool Britannia" by The Bonzo Dog Doodah Band. Much more sensible.

IF you're looking for tunes to keep you up tempo after the leaders debate, how about starting ARF with something like Earl Scruggs Foggy Mountain Breakdown. Or perhaps to reflect our leaders fighting talk then maybe Duelling Banjo's (by Hayseed Dixie would be good). As you can see I am campaining for The More Bluegrass on Radio 2 Party.

We're a bit thin on the ground today, aren't we. Guess that's partly down to ARF syndrome - there not being lots of songs to suggest.



The college meeting went reasonably well. The support worker has concerns, which we share to a certain extent. But it's touching to see that the reason she is concerned is she is genuinely fond of Dan. His Dad and I have the view that we have to let him give Uni a go - he is certainly capable academically. If it doesn't work out, we'll have to think again. At least he'll have tried.



Anyone going to be watching the 5Live video stream this pm? Let us workers know if anything interesting is going on.

I shouldn't really be here, but couldn't resist a quick peek. Glad the meeting went ok, Deebee. I think it can be just as daunting for parents when their child heads off for University. My daughter is hoping to go in September, son already at Nottingham, so it'll be an empty nest for us. Your son will be grateful to you both for giving him the chance, and hopefully he will relish the whole university experience.



Well I wont be offering an ARF request today as I had a song played yesterday, but I hope that Tortie-cat gets her choice #9 played, that song was the soundtrack to my late teens (v late 19!!). And now Richard is playing Vienna by Ultravox, where's my shoulder pads??!!

A quick note to Deebee: I work at a University and the level of support our students get is really good, with one snag: they have to request it and/or agree to it. The view is taken that they are adults and have the right to decide if they want their parents to meddle. Once they request support though, there's an awful lot on offer and they tend to do quite well. So don't worry and definitely let him have a go :)



As for ARF I would also love to hear Tainted love (as requested by Tortie-cat). A great song that would bring back the memories of the carefree teenage life...

Gorgeous song - I bought the album just for that song. I couldn't name another song of the album though, and if you played any other track from the album to me I wouldn't be able to tell you if was on that album or not :-).

Ken, no no no no no! Best DuranDuran dong ever has to be The Chauffer from the Rio album or maybe New Religion, although the entire self-titled first album takes some beating.

From the More Bluegrass League. It has not gone un-noticed that some bluegrass has been played in the background behind callers and that is marvellous, thank you.

But not quite as marvellous as Pauline's comments about the London Marathon, when discussing the Highland race - "none of that flat road nonsense". She said it with great tone of voice and I nearly crashed due to laughing so much, so thank you for starting the weekend in a great fashion once again.

Conference Trophy presentation and sunny Saturday happiness a bit tempered by sick car. Cam belt ruled out but that was due for change anyway so current sickness will be added expense on top of the cam belt change and anything else the MOT sharks concoct. I hate cars in April and May :-(.

After all that DuranDuran speak yesterday, Nic and I were in Birmingham last night and we walked under Broad Street along the canal. In my early teens I used to write to 273 Broad Street at least twice a week as it was the home of the DuranDuran fan club!



And if you play New Religion on a Walkman (showing my age now!) the bit at the beginning goes through your head from one ear to the other. Magic.
