Can live recordings be played on ARF Friday? I'm really in the mood to hear "Fat Old Sun" from David Gilmour's live album. Telecaster bliss to kick off an ARF show, but probably too long.

I've been out and about, taking the kids to school, reporting to the DVLA in Brighton that my car has been cloned, so I have to apply for a new registration no., shopping, picking up the kids from school, and just got back in from the carvery - once a month treat! #49 Yes. It wasn't very good! No, at first I thought what a great idea, but it soon became very samey and I didn't find it entertaining. I think it could stand one night a week, with other phone-in comps on other days.



I have an idea not too dissimilar to our muse's own thinking - a phone in where each of 3 contestants is given one (different) word and has to name as many songs as possible in one minute with that word contained in the title. Again, it would probably only be entertaining one night a week......and no computers would be allowed to enter, CDFMSDOS....

I say, bring back John Dunns, spot the intro!

Hello - nice to see a few people around ... mind if I put my tenpen'orth in?



This phone-in competition mallarky - I think that the medium requires a definite one-off correct answer, such as 'guess the intro' or 'guess the voice'.



As with most comps/quizzes - the potential for problems arises when the answer is open-ended, ie. name tunes with such-and-such a word.



Simon/ProductionTeam would need to have a definitive list of 'right' answers ... they'd need to note down the contestants' replies and match them up at superspeed ... and they'd have to make a judgement on a song title that is close but not exact - then put up with all the flack when things go pear-shaped, but that in itself is feedback and perhaps that's what's needed.



Hmm .. I think I've just talked myself out of that one :)





Hi MisterDipper [that still makes me chuckle] - CLP blog more of a chatroom amongst chums perhaps? This blog is usually linked to the show and the music, hence the dearth of replies on a Friday when listener input is not required during the day to define the playlist for that evening.

In fact there is a gathering in Glasgow, this very weekend.

I must say, there is very little that tastes nicer of a Saturday evening than the delicious tang of "Own Goal". Astonishingly, not the fault of the L**cester player that scored it, though. Woken up with a stinking cold at 3:15 this morning (I blame my kids who both have one), and am not feeling 100% (well, not even feeling 30% actually) so may not be on here much today, given I have a 3 hour meeting this aftenoon - just what I need! Then comes a night by the fire trying to warm up, listening to Newcastle vs. Forest - a draw would be nice!

I have no idea what Converse trainers are. Therefore I assume that like Simon I'm also too old to wear then. Although since the age of trainer-brand-self-determination I've only ever worn trainers with exactly 3 stripes on each side so it probably matters not a jot that I'm too old for Converse trainers (other trainers may also be available).

Converse have stars on each ankle - high top canvas trainers, favoured by basketball players in the 70s...

#97 The mighty Stevenage play the only two teams that realistically can stop us being Conference Champions. Oxford tomorrow, Luton Saturday. Draws against both are going to leave us very hard to overturn. Win both and it's all over bar the shouting. Justice at last will have been done, 14 years after having been denied promotion and challenging the ludicrous rules in the courts to the benefit of 13 other clubs since that year.



The promotion/relegation situation between the Conference and the Football League is still a travesty. The FL promote three at their top end but relegate only 2 at the bottom. The game would benefit from the Premier League telling the football league that they must bring their bottom into line with the top or else.........
