Better late than never!
Two teens asleep (what else?), youngest at school (home clothes day), coffee on the go (Peruvian I think) and 2 shows to prepare (as at 9.15 am). Now I have to "Pause for thought" Back in a moment...
...now that's better. It was Andy the ex-monk today.
First up its movies at 5 Live with Dr Mark Kermode and actress Jodie Whittaker. She stars in "Perrier's Bounty" with Cillian Murphy and Jim Broadbent. Producer Stephen Wooley is on too. Reviews for "The Blind Side" and "Nanny McPhee 2" and general wittertainment of the usual order from 2. Then on that taxi-bike to Radio 2 HQ for that perfect weekend aperitif the "All request Friday" from 5. Your perfect, flawless opener selection can be left below.
But first some kids to kick out of bed. I might be gone for some time...

I have an idea not too dissimilar to our muse's own thinking - a phone in where each of 3 contestants is given one (different) word and has to name as many songs as possible in one minute with that word contained in the title. Again, it would probably only be entertaining one night a week......and no computers would be allowed to enter, CDFMSDOS....

This phone-in competition mallarky - I think that the medium requires a definite one-off correct answer, such as 'guess the intro' or 'guess the voice'.
As with most comps/quizzes - the potential for problems arises when the answer is open-ended, ie. name tunes with such-and-such a word.
Simon/ProductionTeam would need to have a definitive list of 'right' answers ... they'd need to note down the contestants' replies and match them up at superspeed ... and they'd have to make a judgement on a song title that is close but not exact - then put up with all the flack when things go pear-shaped, but that in itself is feedback and perhaps that's what's needed.
Hmm .. I think I've just talked myself out of that one :)
Hi MisterDipper [that still makes me chuckle] - CLP blog more of a chatroom amongst chums perhaps? This blog is usually linked to the show and the music, hence the dearth of replies on a Friday when listener input is not required during the day to define the playlist for that evening.

Another one of those start of the weekend posts where I try and guess, (and fail), what the theme will be this week. Given Ashes to Ashes and Doctor Who both return this week I thought we could have a four nights of "time" related songs.
Tonight could be about the past, tomorrow about being in the present, Wednesday about the future and Thursday about "Time " itself. Fridays ARF opener has to be Ashes to Ashes by Bowie.
There's my suggestion and I'm willing to bet your house on it.

Poor Tricky - don't be modest - it's man flu. Give it 4 days and you'll be fine for Easter Bunnykins.
Hello blogpopsters :)
Back from family do in soggy Devon - off to Sarf Lunnon and Norf Kent. Life in the fast lane, eh?

#81 - you'll be fine Deevs, just follow the old TomTom to Speghetti Junction, then throw it out the window and use the force...
And as for a bit of Lonnie Donegan, why not?

Good luck Deevs - hope the interview goes well. Do you have Satnav? Know what you mean about Spaghetti junction - scary!
Kev - I swear by Lemsip (other cold remedies, etc...) It won't cure the manflu, but if you take some just before your meeting it should keep you going for the duration.
MTF - good point (and the same goes for Deevs). I just need to get to know a few more CLP bloggers and I'm sure I'll feel at home. I'm a bit shy though, you see, and it's so warm and cosy over here...
Will re-post my song choices when today's blog appears, but for the record (as Kev beat me to Madge):
"My Father's eyes" Eric Clapton
"The living years" Mike and the Mechanics
Deebee X

Converse have stars on each ankle - high top canvas trainers, favoured by basketball players in the 70s...

Draws against both are going to leave us very hard to overturn. Win both and it's all over bar the shouting. Justice at last will have been done, 14 years after having been denied promotion and challenging the ludicrous rules in the courts to the benefit of 13 other clubs since that year.
The promotion/relegation situation between the Conference and the Football League is still a travesty. The FL promote three at their top end but relegate only 2 at the bottom. The game would benefit from the Premier League telling the football league that they must bring their bottom into line with the top or else.........
