I've bin poorly for AGes (pls see CLP blog) so have severly missed the radio, but I've heard you a couple of times, and thoroughly enjoyed Rock and Roll last Friday...me and the Badger were on our way home from a friend's funeral, and that was one of his favourite tracks, so I got all a bit motional, then had a good head bang...so thank you for that!!!

#22 I suspect it's a good thing for the fans in the longer term. I don't see any realistic hope that clubs at our level will find buyers to come in and actually wipe out the debts that are hanging round their neck, and it seems a large chunk of the fan base have been willing the club to fail so they can be rid of the owners and start afresh at a level they can sustain/re-build from. Cambridge Utd fans may need to start clenching buttocks though, they are suddenly much closer to the possibility of regional football!

Haven't listened to 5 Live in the afternoon since Simon's departure. Do they still do a book review? If not, would love to see Simon re-introduce it into his Friday afternoon slot on 5. It was regularly the best talkie radio slot of the week IMO.

#50 I know the guy who commentates on Stevenage games for the local BBC station (I travelled with him and sat with him in the press box for 18 months when I was doing reports on away games for a local rag). He forgets to put his phone on silent so I've often heard my text messages to him arriving live on the commentary :-).

Btw, my name is not really Tom and I don't drive fork lift trucks. I appreciate that first thing on Friday morning I said without a shadow of a doubt it was going to be Your love keeps lifting me Higher and Higher, (Rod Stewart version), that would open the show and the song, (Jackie Wilson) version was used to close the show but this is pure coincidence. The fact that their are millions of songs to chose from, only 16 were chosen and that very song was used to end the show had nothing at all to do with me. I did not ring into the show and make up the most ridiculous award show possible in an attempt to hide my identity.

#87 Of course it is so much more than choosing songs, however, I wonder if there is a blog based activity which can work in tandem with the whole point of ARF which would increase the amount of comments made.



I wonder if on a Friday, the usual Monday to Thursday audience for Drivetime are uncatered for? ARF is essentially a completely different programme. Okay, its still got Mr Mayo but then the film review on 5Live is a completely different show yet it is presented by Simon.



Do we have to accept that the programme we like to refer to as "our" show only operates between Monday to Thursday or is there something we can do on a Friday evening which increases ownership for the Mon-Thurs crowd without ARF changing its format?

Blissful Sunday afternoon listening top last night's Bobness while three-tabling on PokerStars. Oh my, "Ruby" by David Rawlings Machine was gorgeous - another album on to the wish list. Need to win a few more hands.

#88 - very interesting blog post Darren. Hmm, can't think of much we CAN do, apart from call the show on a Friday as well as blogging! It coudl be that quite a few of us finish work earlier on a Friday and are therefore not around to blog?



Looking forward to going back to work tomorrow after 3 weeks off - not looking forward to the 1 hr 45 min drive in the morning - my back won;t thank me for it, I'm sure!

#90 I suppose I'm looking at increasing the number of posts which get added to the "Friday" blog, regardless of if they get posted during the actual show or not. I leave home for work prior to 07:30am and rarely get home until the evening, Friday included.

Most of the blogging taked place in the daytime leading up to a Mon-Thurs show anyway rather than during the show - which is when is generally drops off.

I'm usually to busy between 5:05 and 7pm, ahem, to post anything myself.

What about an inhouse game which we could take part in on Friday prior to the show which gets resolved by the end of the show?

The current game is, who can get their name, their song, their tweet, their confession, their homework sucks answers or their guest questions mentioned.

Could either be; song related or; what type of person phones in related or; get a weird sport mentioned; or get Sally traffic invovled in something or get Simon to read a text on what you are doing.

The song related one does not have to simply get your song request played at the start of the show. It could be guess which song genres get played, etc.

Do you recall how the cover of Abbey Road supposedly contained a clue as to the demise of Paul McCartney. Well, I've noticed that in Cornish D's new nom de plume, the word "not", is the only one not capitalised. With this in mind I'd like to suggest "Sweet Potato Pie" by James Taylor to be played at some point in the show. It's probably not an opener.
