Weekend and counting
Off to the new Greenzone movie with Matt Damon and then to 5 Live for an unusual afternoon. Our usual film show won't be live as Tony Blair at the Chilcott inquiry has taken over. So we will be live streamed on line, while recording an hour of wittertainment to be broadcast at 9 tonight. Is that clear? Oh well, we'll stumble along and all will become clear.
And then back to Radio 2 and it's only slowly dawning on me that this Drivetime thing is my show for real and I'm not just filling in. And what a great feeling that is. It's the end of week 3 and I love doing this show. Love it more than chocolate itself. And we have the small matter of an all request Friday from 5, so your ideal song would be what? By who? Leave your top ideas below and we'll pick one later.
Email [email protected] or follow me on Twitter or Facebook.
See you at 5...

Alternatively, as it's the weekend I'd really like to hear Lost Weekend by Lloyd Cole and the Commotions. Back in Jacobean times when I was at university in Exeter this was our house song. Why a lost weekend seemed relevant to a house full of students, I can't imagine.

Completely can't remember it now at all though except that it was short and sweet, pretty tub thumping two. I don't think there's any twitterati conspiracy going on, I thinks tub thumping is just the same as saying Sir Simom of Mayo requesting a good opener.. I am The Beat by The Look is another good example :)

Read the blog yest - good stuff - relevant, intelligent, witty. Wanted to part of it.
Subjectivity? Am often asked what kind of music I like. Or who I am a fan of. [used to work for a groundbreaking pop lyric mag - alas no longer wiv us]
I am a fan of MUSIC - be it R&B[the real stuff] R&R, Rock[prog, hard, soft, celt ic&inbetween], Metal, Punk, Pop, Blues, Country&Western, FolkRootsAcoustic plus 2zillion etceteras ...
I have never just worshipped a genre and NEVER an act!

I agree with you 200 percent (yep that strongly) about being a fan of MUSIC and not worshipping a genre.
After being a bit of Robbie Williams fan in my younger days and seeing where that got him I should have followed your advice on the act front...but then Johnny Cash came along and he didn't let me down.
Yay for Fillosofficial Friday indeedy :)\
ps are you allowed to name the music mag that has once been but now past?

Given that John Sullivan was on your show last week and Rock n' Chips was on Sunday - I appreciate you won't be able to play a John Sullivan Soundtrack but how about a bit of "Chas n' Dave" this evening?
"Down to Margate" was actually used in the "Jolly Boys' Outing" episode but given today's Iraq enquiery how about "Rabbit" or "There ain't no pleasing you"?
Love the show, the team and the bloggers.
