I'll be honest here, Chris had a going away party and invited bloggers so I thought I'd get in early for your departure in 25 years time.

PS I expected Small Faces - Stay With Me first but sure it will come along somewhen this week after your comments last time you played it.

Enjoying it so far Simon. Liked you in the Radio 1 days but always though you tried too hard when you were sitting in for Chris.

Simon, used to listen to you on my way to university when you were on the Radio One breakfast show, I can now listen to you on my way home from work 17 years later (i hope that makes you feel as old as it makes me feel!); loved the show, enjoyed Chris this morning (I'm making the switch from Radio 4 on a morning - I'll catch the news some other time!) but as some others have said you have had a better first day - too much pressure on Chris with the TOGS I am sure you will both do a superb job and I think there will be some awards heading in the direction of Radio 2 in the future. Radio 2 is truly going to recapture the Radio one listeners of 20-30 years ago! Good luck.

Have been a big Chris Evans fan for a while and I have to admit to being a little apprehensive as to how you would fare but I liked what I heard. Well constructed show, well thought through, calmly presented and loved Pontunes! I WILL be tuning in again. Well done Sir!

Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed this evening's show. I've listened to you on 5Live for the last few years and thought I'd switch over to Radio 2 tonight to have a listen and really enjoyed it. Will definitely be tuning in again.



I'm only 23 though. I always thought I had another 20 years at least before I started listening to Radio 2.

Really enjoyed the whole show (apart from the 45 mins when I was in the gym). Chris was a hard act to follow, but you've made the show your own now - congratulations!

Really enjoyed the show last night Simon, listened to whole show while cooking and eating tea. Listened to you on Radio 1 and Five Live, so knew you wouldn't disappoint. Keep up the good work!

I didn't start a new job come to think of it I didn't even go to my current job on Monday.



I was off ill :( so I could the Breakfast show later in the day via listen again (I was chuffed - All You Need Is Love would definately have got me out of bed had I been getting up that early on Monday morning)

Sorry BBC but i am yet to meet anyone who still listens to the Drivetime show. Simon, you are just not suited to this prime time slot. We need more energy and entertainment after a hard day at work. I am afraid you havent got that and what is with the totally senseless unentertaining game? I did try your show once but as with each person i have talked to we all find it very very dull.



Our big question is: Will Richard Allinson be standing in for you when you are on holiday? If so we will definately be listening for those few weeks a year.





It will be interesting to see the listening figures when they are released. Obviously there will be a knock off from the Evans fans who desert anyway, but BBC you are losing countless others because of this truly uninspiring show. You chose the wrong presenter. Richard Allinson should have been given the slot. Fingers crossed this travesty is corrected in the future so that I and many friends and countless others across the nation can listen to the Drivetime show again.
