Fast and Furious

Hi English lovers,

What have you been up to? It’s me again, Adriana, typing from Brazil. While my family was giving all attention to the eye-catching match Flamengo was playing against Grêmio, I was free to torture you with my writings. :-)

I’m not sure if I should be writing here because sometimes I have ants in my pants to say what I think. Living in a poor state like Espírito Santo you can understand my disappointment at the Brazilian politicians.

I don’t know from where this urgency in understand politics come from but recently I’ve been thoughtful. I even decided to take part of a political party just for curiosity. The first meeting was comical for me . I felt like a fish out of the water listening to all those politicians talking …bla-bla-bla…only empty words.

To be honest, it’s scary to see so many changes here! I feel like an ant with all those machines and constructions everywhere. We only hear the word petroleum all the time. Perhaps I should be happy but I have a feeling that my city won’t be that quiet anymore. That could be a great opportunity for development of my state always neglected in our history but I guess the only thing we will get is the negative impact in our lives and environment. It was already said that we will have to share the profit with all Brazilian states, including the rich ones. Almost nothing for us.

Poor “Capixabas” ( the way we are called here), how can we be optimistic about improving people lives after the flood we had last month? When it happens to a rich state the media will make a buzz and the government will quickly send help but not in poor states around Brazil. Many people lose their houses without any support.

Sorry for the bitterness of my blog. You don’t deserve it. Maybe it has to do with the film I’ve watched: 2012.

Talking of climate changes my son couldn’t play yesterday. The heavy rain didn’t allow him play at the stadium. It would be an important match against Desportiva. By the way I wrote something wrong in my last blog. The fact of the matter is that he plays at the Sport Club Tupy , this is the correct name of his team.

He is addicted to football. He practises everyday and when it’s raining, he plays videogame. Which game? Football of course. But it doesn’t worry me. He passed at school with excellent grades so that they offered 50 % of discount in the payment for the next year because I was considering a shift to another school. I feel good…so good :-)

I have to say goodbye, the match has finished, Flamengo is the champion and the life goes on. I promise the next blog will be completely free of politics.

Take care
Adriana

Hi Adriana! I am unwinding. The fest the Immaculate Conception falls on Tuesday this year so almost everyone will be off work/school tomorrow. While I was reading your post once again I realized how small is the world. Every country seems to have to deal with the same issues. Does your son go to a private school? Have a good day!!

Hi Adri, I quite understand you my friend and share your fares about developing. Have a nice day and try to take it easy. Cris

Don´t worry about the "bitterness". You just write what you think about your environment. I understand you because I also live in an emergent economy.

Oops! I wanted to say "fears" instaead of "fares", sorry

Hi Adri! I can absolutely understand your bitterness. Nuala has written in her blog: 'politics is a dirty business'. I cannot help thinking the same. True enough that there are not too many differences between any countries. Take care!

Hi dear Adri , What are you up to ? It 's too nice to read your toughtfull writing . please keep up the good job and as cristi said , take it easy :-). good luck for your son football . kisses .Pary

Hi Adri, we all face somewhat same situation of politics. The politics is not a taboo, it is mentionable, and depand on what are you talking about. Best wishes, James.

Hi Adri, You are really a great mother. I appreciate you on account of your entry in active Politics.Youth like you, should come forward to politics to weed out the rubbish. They should not let the country steer by plunders, illiterate, mean & corrupt politicions. These ill-old leaders does not go beyond self interests and interest of their parties. Those leaders who does not know the definition of poverty, can never be eligible for top posts. Only leaders arisen from general masses(poverty) can lead the country better way. Generally youth belongs to poor class run away from politics and take refuge/ shelter in one sentence "Politics is a dirty game". Hope your son, one day, will be a shining-star of future national footbal team of Brazil.

Hi Adri, here too, states rich in natural resources are poor states. This is the reason that these states are now asking for royality in lieu of exploitation of natural resources from union governent.thanks

Thanks for all your contributions. This blog has now closed and can no longer accept new comments.
