Adriana says hello!

Hi BBC LE community,

I’m Adriana from Brazil. I was the September 2007 student blogger… the time of my life that I will never forget. I still have the picture from that last blog:

I lived in an apartment in Vila Velha city in the Espírito Santo state. As my son couldn’t play football, ride a bike and play joyfully with his friends, I decided to move to the countryside in the south of Vila Velha looking for a better quality of life.

the countryside

I still work at the same places. I have to face the long distance everyday, almost 1 hour by car but it’s worthy. The landscapes I see everyday in my journey is enough to slow down:

the lake and the sea

Since the last time I’ve posted, many things have changed. My son doesn’t want to be a F1 star anymore (THANKS GOD!!!) and now he is in love with football. He is playing in the “Tupy Football Club” team.

As for me, I have not been playing for a long time because the girls play at night and I would arrive too late here.

My routine is still chaotic. I wake up very early in the morning because I walk with my elderly neighbour at 5 am. She is so nice. While I want to lose weight, she suffers from osteoporosis. After that I take my way to the work while my son stays at the school. He is a good student so that Friday he will be already on holidays.

Schooling has been demanding for us mothers too. We have to participate in many activities. For example, tomorrow is the day of “Roda da Leitura” what means more or less “Reading Circle”. Each child buy only one book and after reading it, he/she lends to other child and so on until all the students read all the books. Along with each book, there’s a notebook with a task that should be done by the reader. For example, this time my son read a book that tells a story of a grandmother who bakes cake for her grandson. The task for my son is to write the recipe in the notebook and I have to send 2 cakes for his classmates.

As I arrived exhausted, my option was “Icecream Cake”. The recipe is easy and quicky. We just have to mix all the ingredients, bake the cake, put the cake tin inside the oven, wait 50’. Then we have to replace part of the cake in the middle for icecream, put the top and cover it with Chantilly. Keep it in low temperature. Someone wish me luck because it’s been boiling here.

That’s all. I’m looking forward to the weekend…I’m sure I’ll have more time to communicate with you.

Adriana

Hey Adri, you still look vividly, how nice it is! It is always delightful to read your son's news, and to know more about Brazilian education system. Best regards, James.

Hi Adriana, What a marvellous idea for showing your appreciation to the BBC LE Team, Most children’s’ dreams change from one to another when they grow bigger. It’s nice to have an active and energetic child, and to watch him or her trying hard to pursuit the dream. I reckon that football and speed run in your son’s blood like his mum. Do you still play football? Wonderful to hear from you through the blog! Don't work too hard, and look after yourself.

Oi Adriana! It is good to hear from you again. Gosh! You get up very early...do you go to bed early as well? Which football player does your son want to be? Have a nice weekend!!

You live a happy life with your family! Cherish them!

Hi Adriana! Many years I spent hours driving long distances to work. Yet I would have to in order to work in my real specialization. Although, I still live in my small flat the days I could not walk I´ve bought a new car sudenly. It´s an automat but it does´nt make such fun to drive. Hmm, you are on the walk at 5 am when it´s so sweet to sleep? I prefer swimming in our spa after working hours. Your cakes are surely tasty as all the meals you do as the loving mother! Hope the weather and sun give you enough energy! Warmest greetings!

Hi Adri, So nice to see you here again. You are a brave mum! Besides you have time to give to an elder person, that's wonderful. You have a huge heart dear. I'm very glad for being your friend. See you, Cris

Thanks for all your contributions. This blog has now closed and can no longer accept new comments.
