What is it? :” Kiss and Ride”

Hi I am James from Taiwan (Yilan County),
December, 2nd (Wednesday) Time Zone= GMT (UTC) +8, Humidity: 53%
Weather :15-22 °C (cloudy), Coordination= 24°45'23.47"N, 121°45'54.41"E

I detoured to take a picture on my way to office this morning. Here it is:

It is a sign aside a long distance bus stop which states “Kiss and Ride”, what does it mean? Is it a proper usage? Is it widely used? People in Taiwan controverted a few months ago, and have not come to a conclusion.

I read the post “Waiting for a Christmas!” of Taru (from Rovaniemi, Finland), she talked about the Advent, that is totally a new thing to me, Then, I surfed and read, and a query came up to me: Is the Advent for a devout Christian?

Best wishes

Hi james, That is a very interesting road sign indeed. I love to have a go and I think it means a short-stay car park. Have a good day!

Hi James, I like to have a go at your question that 'Kiss and Ride'. it might be'drop-off point or a short-stay car park. Have a good day!

Hi James, could this be taken as the incentive from the local authorities to lessen the vehicles on the city roads. I would expand it and say: "Get on to the bus and you might not have to look at the road while kissing!!!"

Thanks Hyoshil, I have no idea about what does " Kiss and Ride" imply? Your explanation is one of a good one. Thanks and regards, James.

James's reply: Hi Rajesh, you have a fabulous imagination and humor, I am very impressed. Thanks for your comment.Best wishes, James.

Hi James! I know you like googling so just type the therm “Kiss and Ride”and you will find the explanation. I did the same. Anyway, I have seen a sign:”Park and Ride” in England but have net met “Kiss and Ride” yet. I should go to Taiwan. :)

Hi Anita, yeah, come to Taiwan to see the sign "Kiss and ride". I did google the term and found many interest stuff. Allow me to pick one of them to share with you.( quoted by http://www.symphonious.net/2004/07/05/kiss-and-ride/0)------------ What the hell is a kiss and ride? I’ve heard of park and rides where you can drive a short distance from home then park and catch a train the rest of the way but a kiss and ride? I guess it’s a drop off point where you get your husband/wife (or in San Francisco your boyfriend) to drive you a short distance from home and then you catch the train and they drive home again. Still wouldn’t it be easier to call it a drop off point? Is it really that inconceivable that someone might be dropped off by someone they don’t want to kiss? Anyway, I’ve got to go find a good looking girl to give me a lift to the train station tomorrow…..

Thanks for all your contributions. This blog has now closed and can no longer accept new comments.
