A heavy rainy day
I thought you might wonder about the jars in one of the pictures I put in the last entry.
There can be various things inside the jars such as Kimchi, and kinds of sauces, and I remember seeing my mum keep salt in there. People in cities wouldn’t use them these days, but we still have them outside my home, and we keep things.
It is raining heavily all over the place in Korea at the moment. There are floods reported. I think it’s going to last for days. When I was young, my hometown was almost flooded, and I went to some bridge with my dad and neighbors to see if it would really happen. I was very scared of losing my home. Water was nearly below the bridge. If it had rained more heavily, I would never see the village as what it looks like now. Every summer I am always sorry for the people who lose their houses, properties, and farm produce. It seems as if you never be able to stop the floods when it rains heavily during monsoon. It happens every year.
This week, I am too busy to focus on my blog. I am sorry that I haven’t put all my effort on it.
Talking about my summer semester, it has been fun, and I still have got a week left.
Last week, we had a famous Korean food festival. I wasn’t’ able to take nice pictures as there are quite a lot of reporters taking pictures, they weren’t moving and staying in good positions. Anyway, we had fun. There were Kimbab, Korean style pen cake, Deok-bok-i, and some other food. Those are not considered as a main meal. The interesting thing about this festival was that you had to make them to eat.

They are making Kimchi.

Kimbab-rice rolled with seaweed
That was short entry for today.
See you next entry

Hello, Jiae. Should be very hard to see the people loosing they properties and many times lives with natural disasters as you mention, I was born in the dryiest region of my country and I say these happen many times, consequences of absent of rains for long periods of dry,now I use to see the people loosing everything for perionds of heavy rains, these are contrast of my country. your description of the food festival as very interesting, could you more specific and show more pictures.. best wishes.Ramilton
Hi Jiae, I hope the situation is well on your side and you and your family are safe. Although we are into July but it hasn't rained in my city whereas most parts of the country have already had downpours of the season. speaking of food festivals, I haven't attended one myself though, but it sounds very mouth watering because you can taste various foods and can learn traditions attached with it. Wish you have good week, Naheed
the picture is very fun, too much food in the jar.how many days will you eat?
Hi Jiae! It sounds you've run around like headless chicken. On the other hand, you've enjoyed yourself doing the course in spite of your tight schedules and suffering from exhaustion. I like the second picture above, and the students are so cute in Korean traditional costume with a crest hat. seeing the ingredient of Kimbab and Kimch on your blog makes my mouth water ! Some of my English friends are mad about Kimch so much.they never fail to say the kimch is scrumptious whenever they tucks Korean nuddle with it.Did the students like the food, and did they make the food eatable and edible? Many thanks and have a relaxing weekend
Hi Jiae! It's sad to hear of people who lose their properties due to heavy rain. It's rainy season here where I live and during the days of severe rain there are reports of people who evacuate their houses. The problem is worse to those living in bad condition habitations built on slopes. And it happens every year, as you said. The food festival seems very interesting. I am not acquainted with Korean food, but it contains rice, so I think I would enjoy it. Best wishes. Henrique
Hello Jiae! I hope the rain doesn´t cause too much damage in your country. It´s winter time here, but we had some heavy rain which cause some damage in my city. Keep enjoying your summer semester, Ana Paula.

Hi Jiae, the issue of flood due the monsoons has striked me a lot. I've been wiking (new gerund of making wikipedia) and I've read that rains are very heavy and in addiction there are constant winds. To live in this environ could be very difficult. There should be people who must face floods several times in their life. I imagine that with this kind of rains there is no secure place, isn't it? See you.
that's extremely interesting and looks really delicious!
