VISIT PERU : I CALLED THE SOUTH´S TRIANGLE

If you come to Peru in July in our Independence day you can travel to the south part and make a tour in three places :
PUNO-CUZCO-AREQUIPA

Well in this moment I will tell you the first(travelling from Lima to the south part) Arequipa:
Arequipa has good culture.First you have to visit the principals sightseeings like as:
Colca Canyon, you should visit all the churches around the square, Santa Catalina Convent, where the nuns were prohibited to go out the Convent and now the Convent is opened to the tourists. Yanahuara´s balcony, Cotahuasi Canyon the deepest of the world(3525 meters ).
Also take pics with Misti Volcano you see it from all over the places in Arequipa

The food is delicious I recommend you to eat : Shrimps soup, Rocoto relleno( is a dish that the principal ingredient is : Hot pepper stuffed, inside of it there is meat , with a potatoe cake which has cheese on it is extremely delicious.
One particular thing in Arequipa is that everyday has one special dish and this is very common when you arrive there all the restaurants and people eat one special dish per day : example On Monday people eat a soup called Chake its ingredients are potatoes, pork meat, chicken meat, beans. It´s a powerful soup
Well I recommend you to visit Colca Canyon when you arrive to Arequipa near the square there are travel agencys that offer you trips to get there 2 days one night is ok to vist there.

Before you arrive to Colca , during the trip you will see nice landscapes and you will visit some little towns that are on the way.

You will spend the night in Chivay town which is really nice and comfortable because they have everything (internet, phones to communicate , etc) ,you will drink “Mate de Coca” in case you suffer Soroche(Sometimes people are not get used to the high levels of climates)

You need to be very positive because the principal attractive in Colca it´s not only the spectacular Canyon, it´s the Condor Flight, you need to be lucky because the buses get there early in the morning approximately you have to wake up at 5.00 in the morning and you arrive to Colca at 7.00 and wait to see this amazing bird.

When I went with my husband we saw 3 you don´t have any idea how amazing is that scenary, because its flight is just incredible I was afraid at the beginning but at the same time I admired this bird from our highlands.
So If you see this, You won´t forget it. There are many people waiting for this,
cross your fingers to see them because sometimes they don´t appear.
We were lucky ¡¡¡ So you can go to Colca and pratice Mountain Cyclism, and in the afternoon you can go to the Aguas termales, which is a place where there are many pools with hot water that contains minerals for your body, it´s really good.
And if you wanna drink some beverages there is a restaurant next to the pool, so you can drink whisky, pisco, beer while you are in the hot pool.
OH Arequipa is beautiful, the food, people, places everything so it´s a good beginning for your next trip to the Peru´s South.
Next I will show you Puno (Cuzco will be at the end to explain Machupicchu)

Hello Lily, Reading your lines discribing the country and nature I try to call back the lessons of geography. Unfortunately I can´t remember too much, but see how different was that way of learning from this one with your help. You write not only about the landscape but also about the local quisine which is an important part of culture. And the Condor flight-I envy you for that, I wish I could see it ,too! Waiting for the next episode, wishing you nice weeknd.

Hi Lily, How beautiful the photos and the description of the places to be visited. I´ve been honestly thinking of visiting this great country of yours! We have acummulated miles and we may be travelling in July!I´d love to watch the flight of the condor and the cold weather! I love low temperature! In fact , there is something mystical in the Peruvian air! The dish you mentioned, rocotto relleno, sounds really yummy! Why don´t you publish the recipe on the recipe activity on the site! I´d love to try it out! Love, Monica I´m eager to know about Peru! It would be nice to see some phots of Lima as well.

Hi Lily! All the pictures are amazing! There´s a legend here in Brazil in which is told that a city in the state of Minas Gerais, called São Tomé das Letras is linked to Machupicchu by a passage in a cave. Have you ever heard about this legend? Have a nice weekend, Ana Paula.

Hi Lily, your blog made me so curious, so I red a lot about Peru in wikipedia. Shamefull I must say I had a very wrong knowledge from Peru. I always thougt your country is located high in the Andes and not so near to the sea. So your blog shows me a new view of your homeland. Thank you

Hi Lily, thanks a lot for your marvellous shots. I liked specially the one which you apear with the Canyon at the background. Your face speaks for itself. I don't know whether its shock is caused for low levels of oxigen or for the breathtaking view. Please, go on with your catching trip narrative. It has no price. See you, Toni.

Hi, It's seems a very beautiful place, with an amazing nature and landshapes.... I'd like to visit and I hope to do it as soon as possible. I need 10 hours by plain but I think it be worth.

Hi Lily! How are you doing? Well, your pictures are awesome! That place is really nice! I am a bit confused about Rocoto relleno dish. How big is the pepper? Because there are some many things inside ... ;-D

Hi Lily! Thanks to your colorful blog I’ve become a bit acquainted with Peru’s food and facilities . Actually I have an aspiration to discover as many countries as possible for myself. It’s not easy task but apart from visiting countries there is another way: to meet friends.

Hello Lily, what a detailed description of the places. Peru seems to have so much to see. Description of Rocoto relleno has made my mouth water. Do you know we celebrate our independence day on 14th August. I couldn't leave a comment to your previous post, It was really interesting to know how you and your husband met and started to like each other. You two make a lovely couple. Best wishes, Naheed

Having read your blog and seen these beautiful places I think that I wish I could see these beautiful canyon not only on these photos, but in the reality as well. I am living on the opposite side of the Earth. So far, I haven't known so much about Peru, and the peruvian people's life and foods. Now I would like.

Hi Lily I´d like to know about your experience in Machupichu, on my vacations I have visited my country places like Santa Marta, Cartagena y San Andrés. Really I want to know about this, because you can tell me many things to do there that the travel agency don´t tell me, I will travel in febrery - march next year.
