New Year wishes, hopes and dreams…
Hello friends,
It is the last day of open blogs….again. What is more, it is the last day of the year 2008. It is time to say thank and goodbye to everyone…
Well, I want to really thank the BBC LE team for giving us this opportunity, and also you, my blogmates and teacher bloggers for participating, and also you, dear commentators for writing, for your support, for your encouragement, and also you, readers for reading and for your interest.
It is a shame that I did not hear from Lewis Davies again, but I do hope he and his loved ones are doing well.
I would like to wish a Happy New Year to all of you and to your families! I hope 2009 will be a year filled with good health, happiness, freedom from war and violence and success for you.
The other day I was surfing on the internet and I found something that I want to share with you because these words express how I feel. Here it is: „Your Merry Christmas may depend on what others do for you. But your Happy New Year depends on what you do for others.” Do you believe that it is true?
Do you have any hopes and dreams for the New Year? For me, I think it will just be continuing to be creative in the kitchen, keep plugging away at our business venture, and hopefully brushing up on my English. Simple dreams for the New Year, but they should keep me busy enough.
Anyway, I am spending New Year with my husband at home. My son is going out with friends and Csilla is working in London. By the way, she has already booked her plane ticket to South America. She is flying to Brazil at the beginning of February.
Okay, now onto some replies. Oh, before I forget, here are some other beliefs I find to be quite interesting.
Hungarians are careful what they eat on January 1st. No one should eat fish or chicken because fish will swim away with your luck and chicken will scratch it back. If you want to be wealthy and lucky during the coming year, you must eat some form of pork because pigs root out your luck.
According to superstition, if the first person you meet on 1st January is male, you will have good luck. What a discriminatory belief!!!! Poor my husband! So, I am the reason why he is unlucky. :-D
Before saying goodbye, here are some quick replies. You know, I will continue to read the next bloggers’ entries on this page so I will see all of you in 2009 as well. Thank you for your lovely comments. I would like to wish you all the best.
Hyoshil, thank you for your all comments. I liked reading them. Thanks also for your advice. I will keep it in my mind. I am glad to hear that your Christmas was as good as you wished for yourself.
Filippo, I am so happy for you. Dublin sounds a great destination. Have a safe journey!
Rabail, nice to meet you! Rabail and Marianna, I keep trying to follow our Christmas tradition.
Leila, hope you feel better soon. I too wish you and your family a very happy New Year. The pictures of the Northern lights were marvellous. Thanks.
James, I think this open blog is for our fun, for making friends. I see what you mean as I also like being corrected. This way I can learn from my own mistake. Anyway, I liked reading your entries.
Ana Paula, I loved your pictures of pomegranate tree.
Cris - I am sure, your cooking will turn out lovely. Good luck! Thanks for your comments.
Naheed- I liked your last entry, as always.
Kiran, Satya, Adriana – great to hear from you again! My best wishes for you and your family!
See you all in January. Take care,
Anita
