We are globally connected

Hope you're all having a wonderful Sunday:-) Leila, the Northern lights are magnificent and truly miraculous. Talking of this, yesterday I had a talk with Cristina, our very dear blogger from Argentina, on Skype. We talked about how amazing it is to think that we are into different seasons. Over here in Pakistan, we are into the winter while in Argentina, it's summer. If the world system of seaons would be the same everywhere, maybe there would be scarce resources more than we have now and we might not be able to fulfil them. As we all know there are certain crops that only grow in the summer, then there the ones that only grow in the spring, and winter and so on. So there are certain seaons and time to sow the fields with and that's how the world economy works. Speaking of seasons, when people, on one part of the globe, celebrate Christmas and New Year with a lot of warm clothes and winter food and snow falling on their roof tops, at the same time people on the other part celebrate them with putting on light clothes, not so heavy food and a warm weather, and that's interesting isn't it?

It is good to think how globally we are connected to each other and BBC LE blogs are the most easiest way to be connected with you all everytime we log on. I have got to learn a lot from here not only with respect to English but also about the people and places, their cultures, traditions and festivals and so much. I really loved to see the decorations of your Christmas trees and the mouth watering pictures of foods you all prepared for your loved ones. Anita, the beans recipe is very easy and it can make a good everday food too.

With this thought of the day I would like to give a special message to Satya who is from my neighbour country. Satya, just like you and me there are many people in India and Pakistan who are against war so hope for the best nothing will happen. How I wish if everyone realises that we get nothing from war, the only thing we get is destruction and only destruction, tearful eyes, orphans, homeless and the end of happiness on those faces which never thought of such a cruel thing could ever occur.

To Marianna and James: I just read your comments so signed in again to reply to your messages. Marianna, thank you so much for your sincere love and admiration which is more than words to me. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas day. I have one more picture of a pigeon which I have saved for the final day of the open blogs:-).

James, the interesting thing about the pigeons is that I haven't reared them though, but this friedship is old. They look at me standing by the window and start to gather as they know that I have their grains with me. As for their different varieties, you will be surprised that it's just three that I have been able show you all. There many more!

Today and everyday, my wish for everyone one on this globe is peace and prosperity.

Hi Naheed! I also keep my fingers crossed and I really hope that a new year will bring world peace and live harmoniously all together.see you again!XX

A thoughtful entry Naheed, peace and prosperity to you!

Hello Naheed! So true!! Thanks to the internet I got to know this website and this community. Several people despise the net for several aspects, but they should keep in mind all the positive ones!! The recent international events especially the ones in the Middle East are awful. I completely agree with you Naheed. No war is right. If I do not hear from you anymore, I wish you a great 2009.

Hi Naheed, thanks for your reply. You are always thoughtful of others. It is concerned that will Pakistan and India war upon each other? Hope you are all well. See you around, J.

Hello Naheed! You know, I worked over 20 years in hospital labs, 17 years of that as a head of microbiology, dating from my 29, rather uncommon age for the position that times here. Having been there I helped to a number of people to cure havy infectious complications without their awareness somebody like that could have helped them to survive. I do nothing but write now and how rewarding it is for me. It was the most useful thing, how all the smallest plants are having the meaning for the grow of the forest, the very little paragraph in biology script at my first exam which I have found very important thirty years ago. The script had been written by a teacher not politicaly correct, now this is called ecology and became a serious science here too. The mystery of nature we may always wonder about...

Thanks for all your contributions. This blog has now closed and can no longer accept new comments.
