Going to the theatre…

Hello friends,

I love theatre. However, I am not a theatregoer…unfortunately. Let me explain why not. As I told you I live in a teeny-weeny village and it has pros and cons. One of the disadvantages is that villages do not offer a wide choice of cultural events. When we want to see a theatre performance we must travel to one of the bigger towns, Komarno, Bratislava or Budapest in Hungary.

Csilla has seen several plays and musicals since she moved to London and I was listening enviously to her when she told me how wonderful they were. My lovely daughter had a big surprise for me… she took me to the theatre in London. But before telling you what I saw I would like to tell you what we did from dawn to dusk that day.

At last, Csilla had a day off on Monday and it was our “big “day. After having breakfast Csilla prepared sandwiches for us. It was a special feeling…the boot is on the other foot… because mums tend to prepare sandwiches for their children and not the other way round. She performs her duties very skilfully, so all that really put my mind at rest.
Firstly we went to Madame Tussauds which is a famous wax museum in London. We had a whale of a time there. The wax models were so lifelike that you almost felt you could talk to them.







Then we went to Hamleys in Regent Street which is a toy shop that has seven floors. I loved this shop; I think I could spend a whole day there just trying all toys. Doing Christmas shopping there was really easy.

We set out for our ride on the London Eye at sunset. The panoramic view from the top of it was breathtaking. Many famous landmarks were visible in night lights, including the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben.







We finished the day with a fantastic theatre performance. Csilla took me to the Dominion Theatre and we watched the musical by Queen and Ben Elton, We Will Rock You. I did not understand every word, of course, mainly when the actors played on words but I got the plot, I think. I loved the music. So it was superb. The audience applauded for about ten minutes on foot. I was really surprised that the theatre played to a near full house on Monday evening. That’s London!







Well, my journey to London was… I can hardly find the appropriate word… fantastic!!! Many thanks Csilla!

Cris, it is so interesting and unusual to see Christmas pictures of people who are wearing short-sleeved or sleeveless blouses and T-shirts.

Tiasha! Thank you for your kind words and wishes. Best wishes for your family too :-) I think that it is important to provide opportunities four our children to try things, but then to respect their choices about what they like and what they do not like. Csilla has always had a very definite sense of herself. Even when she was very little she knew exactly what she liked and what she did not. That is ´real life´- we, parents must let go our children to live their ´real lives´. Do you agree with me?
