Celestial images

Hello Everyone!

I hope you are all keeping well. The weather has got a little cold as the Karachites recieved the second showers of rain of the winter season on Thursday and Friday. Before I proceed further, I would like to say thank you for taking your time to send your nice omments.

Hello Anita, what pleases me most about you is a bond between you and your daughter. You seem to be your dughter's best friend:-). I make a lovely picture in my mind when you tell us about your family and the love and care you have for them. Best wishes to you, touch wood:-)

Hi Marianna, you are so lovely. You know I have taken some more photos of my pigeons for you. It's always good to see your comments 'cause when you write to us all, seems like it straight away comes from your heart. Today I'm sharing some shots of the full moon which I'm going to tell you all about after a couple of replies.

Hey up James, your posts are like a guide to Taiwan. I'm sure all those who have itchy feet are surely going to visit Taiwan very soon.

Hello Cheikh Vall, hummm...your question is very interesting indeed! Well, before partition, both India and Pakistan were one and were under the British rule and they wanted to be free from them as independent states. So it was the people who wanted to emerge as free states on the globe.

Thank you Fillipo and Beatriz for your cmments! I have a question to you both about the summer vacations in your countries. Over here, we have summer vacations around three months. They start from the mid of May and last till 31st July.

So let's get down to celestial images. Well, you might remember that just a week ago the world saw the biggest full moon of the year 2008. It is said that this kind of full moon occurs once in 15 years. I too took a couple of photos which I'm sharing with you all.

There's another photo which was taken around the same time. In this shot you will see a star just below the moon and it's a very unusual shot.

I would like you to share a word or two about your experiences of the full moon in your countries.

Time to hit the sack,

Naheed

Comments

Hi Naheed, last week the moon stood in its apogee (the point in which is more closer to the earth). This was the cause of it large size and shiny light. Here we speak about lunatic "lunáticos", people whose mood depends of the moon. In general they are unpredictable. By the way today I've just started my winter holidays too. See you, Toni.

Hello Naheed, I loved your shots of the full moon. I'm very fond of observing the moon myself. Some weeks ago there was another interesting fact that could be observed here in my country. It wasn't a full moon, but as I was coming back home from work the moon seemed to atract my eyes to the sky. It was a beautiful view. There were two other stars very close to the moon with a unusual brightness. It was an astonishing view. I later came to know that they were no stars, but two planets, mars and jupiter, I guess that were in a position that made them have that distinct shine. It was really something. But I'm not a good photographer. So I couldn't register that moment. To tell you the truth I tried to photograph the moon before, but It never turned out well. It's always very small compared to the real thing. Well Naheed your shots were nothing like mine for you were able to capture the moment pretty well. Bye, bye. See you.

Hey Naheed, thanks for posting these great shots of the moon. I think here in Germany it was too cloudy to see the biggest moon in 15 years :-(

I am student from nepal. we have different system of education. we are barely able to speak english only by fourth grade. I am intending to write only about government run schools, not who studies in private schools.Eventualy students from private schools have excellent command over english. this is my first exposure to BBC and the materials inside. i came to know this by my classmate. He has good command over english and he developed it within a couple of years. One year or two i guess. I tried hard to read between the lines in english literature but all in vain initially. but slowly it was becoming clear and clear and more clear. now i have good english. but not so good written english. i went thoroughly through the literature and posts here in BBC. i was fascinated by the simplicity. How can it be so simple to express ones idea in a completely foreign language. when i went through your blog, it is still amazing. i was flabbergasted to see the clarity of the explanations. It is wonderful job. keep it up.

Hi Naheed, It's the wonderful photos of the moon, that meant you have the high class cameras and a good skill to take those shots. To me, it's impossible to shot the moon, not only my camera has no way to do it, but I don't have such capability to take a shoot of the moon even I got a high level camera.See you around, J.

Hi, Naheed, thank you for answering my question.About the moon ,Are you aware that when the moon is full that is the time when people do crazy things. The american believe so!I would not put a follow-up question `cause i do not want to keep you busy with my thoughts.have a good one.Vall

Hi my friend, Thank you for sharing with us these fantastic pictures. I remember when this event happened Oscar and I were amazed at what we were seeing. Unfortunately I hadn't any digital camera with me at that time so I couldn't take any pictures. I enjoy your blogs very much. See you, Cris

Hi again Naheed! It is more or less the same over here as well. Primary and secondary schools close from the middle of June until the first or the second week of September. Universities close just for August because of the sessions of the exams. As for the companies, they mainly close in August. Mind you, if you are a public servant or you work for a big company, you may have staggered holidays. Peace out!!

Dear Naheed! I´ve yet read this on Saturday getting once for long the connection to the net at home. But, unfortunately it failed at sending the comment to Anita. Two years I am paying lots of money and its no use there I am living at the lake but under the hills. Your nights shots are something special! Even, I believe it was taken precisely when I did my evening walk around the castle, it drizzled down and I stood for observing a streetlamp in the middle of a wreath of twigs with hundreds of droplets on them. It was beautiful. I don´t use any camera for a long time and I wouldn´t be good at it. Have a wonderful vacation time!

Thanks for all your contributions. This blog has now closed and can no longer accept new comments.
