Sunday, street sight in the evening, in Ilan city.

Hello there,

Today is Sunday; most people are taking a rest or having a fun outside. While the mantle of night is falling down, the stores on the street will close their door to have a break in the western nation area. However, in Taiwan, the store’s open time is always from 10:00 am to 22:00 pm. People could go shopping at a mall, a department, and buy much stuff in the stores in the evening till 22:00 pm. I took a photo of a night view of Ilan City Street at around December 7 2008 18:00 pm. You can see many stores were still opening, neon lights were shining everywhere. There are a pharmacy, a cell phone (mobile) store, a jewelry store, a commodity store, an electric appliance store, many foodstuffs (food products) store, and many many other kinds of stores. Those stores are often at the first floor, the owners live in the second and/or third floors. The cities in Taiwan don’t segment the house area and the business area, it means people live in the business area, and the stores are set in the house area. The situation are both convenient and inconvenient.

Incidentally, there is a night market opened till midnight (24:00) seven days a week. People can buy many food (fried chicken, etc.) and stuff over there. Click here to get more information.

Hello, want to buy something?

May you buy stuff conveniently in the evening.

Comments

Hi James, wow too much stressfull. Open every day from 10 to 22. It sounds too much. Here sundays are closed and timetables are from 9 to 20:30 in the major part of shops. Is there any regulation in the time of work for people. Here people work more or less 1760 hours per year and have 30 days of paid holidays. See you, Toni

Hello James, what an organised and colourful street it is. How often do you go for shopping in the evening? Best wishes, Naheed

Hi James! You are right. Shops close earlier in Europe. As for Italy, except for the shopping centres where their timetable is like the ones in Taiwan (we have no 24/7 shops though), the small shops close for lunch and half a day during the week. However, the situation has slightly changed because of the local deregulation that gives the opportunity to the shops' owners to remain open even on Sunday. Have a good week!!

Hi James! Your city seems to be a very modern one. Here in Argentina the stores and shopping malls are open 'till very late in the evening. But at 6 pm the sun is still shining until 8:30 pm this time of the year. Thank you for your convenient information. See you, Cris

Hi , Jame It sounds that your country and my country are same . There are no separate space for living area and business area . Do you feel tired of listening to noisy horn or the similar from the early morning till to midnight ? It's really horrible .

The city of neon :) How is it possible to resist and not to spend all your money??

Thanks for all your contributions. This blog has now closed and can no longer accept new comments.
