BBC Learning English team
Comments
Hi all readers I am Guzin from Turkey,50 years old. I have participated this blog for almost 8 months.I am a regular reader but not commentator at least regular. I wrote sometimes. This blog is very useful but we can find many useful websites. The most important thing is to know people across the world who have similar process about learning english. While reading the blogs I felt I am not alone, there are some people who has similar difficulties. This is very motivated and heartening.Thank you very much all of the team who works for BBC learning English. Writing in english was very difficult for me during my learning process but not now.. I want to mention a little about my self. I am retired now. Before my retirement I worked for distance education in diffferent levels. We, as a team, prepared tv and radio programme for the people who stay out of the school. After this period I decided to be retired four years ago. After retirement I started my new life changing the city I lived since I was born. I moved small fishing town and spend times for my hobbies now. These days I am very excited. I have the plan to go South America on my own for five months.I made my itineary. For that reason I am very excited as well worries. I am not sure to do it If I am old or not as a solo women. Before triying it I can't understand. I am on the way next March. Greetings to everbody from Turkey. :))

Peace, Joy and Happiness and Mumbai or Bombay Hi Friends, It is nice that BBC LE has given us an opportunity to interact with each other. I was not a student blogger either. You may see my name in the comments column frequently. I may be a student blogger in near future. This is the chance for me to get use to be a blogger. We are in the last month of 2008. It is a festive season. People prepare many ways to celebrate Christmas in a grand way. They will send the greeting cards to near and dear ones soon. Children will receive gifts from the elders. People share their joy and happiness. Peace, Joy and happiness these are the messages we usually receive at the time of Christmas. You all might have watched on the television the terrorist attack in Mumbai. How and why this happened. What was the aim of terrorist? How can we celebrate festivals under this situation? I have read in the daily today that one of the astrologers suggested that it would be good to change the name of Mumbai to its original name of Bombay. Other wise these kinds of disaster will happen again and again. Will the terrorist stop their attack if they change the name of the city? What do you think about this?
Hello Guzin! I want to wish you a great luck and enjoyment at your South America´s expedition! It resembles teacher Keeler´s Kilimanjaro trip, though, at the adventure you are setting off, You have to be more brave than he was! Such are the women from today! Excelent!
Hello Guzin! I read your comment with great interest. I can certainly understand your excitement and worries about going to South –America alone because I think we are in the same boat. As you might know, my daughter is living and working in the U.K. now. She has just graduated there and she has got itchy feet. She has recently taken a training course to be an EFL teacher because her future plan is to work as a teacher in South America before pursuing for her Master’s degree. As a mother I am concerned about her, her safety, her choices and the consequences of those choices. But this journey sounds a great adventure and an opportunity to see more of the world, to become clearer on who she is and what she wants out of life. You know, I believe in the saying: fortune favours the brave. The best of luck for both of you! Best wishes, Anita
Hello everyone, it's a great present you've given us this december. It's a great idea to bring all our friends back for a big festival. After all it's the time of the year when everyone wants to get closer and share their lives. It's great to hear from all these friends who, so kindly, shared their lives with us in this blog. It's great to be part of it. Paulraj. I was very sorry to read about what happened in Mumbai. These things shouldn't happen at all. If it takes something so siple as to change the name of the city to stop these actions I think it should be done at once. But I'm afraid it's not such a simple matter. Anyway I pray for some enlightment for these people's heads. Good bye and stay well.
Hi Paulraj! You are long a good commentator who I always keep my eye on! I was pretty perplexed by the Mumbai name, thought it´s the English name as we learnt Bombay in my school time. So, I was just ignorant about that things are changing elsewhere not only in my nearest place. What is with the world, how it looks like to be safe nowhere? Yes, I alone searched last month for some personal handy device to feel more safe on my walks. The type of behaviour was and is alien to me. I am against this, it makes me more anxious more focused on waiting something bad may happen. Just a year befor James pointed out London is the most kamera watched city. Now here, our tiny towns spend lots of money to have camera systems. That´s wrong, money out, officials content.. for how long? My idea is fever guns more safety! May the peace be!
Hi freinds! Its nice to have a special place for the commentators for the first time, isn't it? Well, i'm Mahjabeen from Pakistan. I'm not a regular commentator but i think those who write comments regularly might have seen my comments on this blogland. I will write more about my self tomorrow i must dash now. See ya, Bye. Mahjabeen
Hi Friends, As I already said I use this blog to improve my English language writing skill. I found this site is very useful to reach my aim. But now I learn the mistake what I have done after seeing the open blog. I only concentrated to read teachers blog to learn. I spent little time to go through students’ blog. Now I could see the improvement of the students writing after participating in this. They all have become proficient writers. This is the great achievement of the students. We can learn correct usage of language when we point out the mistake of the students can’t we?
Hello friends, Why did some of the student bloggers withdraw themselves before completing their task? Some of them stopped blogging after one or two entries and some ended up with half way. I know it is a difficult one to blog in their daily busy work schedule. But once you start you must try to complete. Whatever the situation you may be. Try to write few lines. As I said to the previous blogger from Spain we are all in the same boat, BBC LE gives us a chance to improve my English language writing skill. Many of us ready to support each other to reach the level. My advice to the student bloggers you should write without fear and hesitation and try to write five days a week. I am really amazed to see the wonderful open blog of the previous student bloggers who had completed their work successfully. So my wish to the student bloggers who are going to start in the future in this column should finish their task in a successful way. ( I am thinking of myself if I this competition)
blogger's posts r vry helpful for me to know more about countries internal atmosphere.
Thanks for all your contributions. This blog has now closed and can no longer accept new comments.
