Travel fair in Pilsen and Daruma dolls

Greetings from Pilsen !!!

Tomorrow is Tuesday 28th October the 90th anniversary of independent Czechoslovakia foundation so everyone in Czech is celebrating or at least having a relax :)

Travel fair is known as a traditional even of Pilsen ,It is held annually .The meaning of this even is to show the visitors the interesting places of Pilsen region.I have been to this one a lot of times and just don't want to go there again but something very special was happening there so for that I decided to see it once again .Experiences are never enough =)).My friend said me that there were also another cities from abroad ,those cities are knowns as sister cities of Pilsen region.

Guess which ones were???? Limoges ,Resensburg and one from Japan Takasaki. There were also some from Slovakia,Hungary and so on.The organizers gave the visitors a lot of good information .Takasaki attracted me the most I just can't describe how nice that city is ! I got from there the doll called Daruma doll. It's one of those things that bring us good luck.It has no arms ,no legs ^_^

Typical colors are red (most common), yellow, green, and white. The doll has a face with a mustache and beard, but its eyes only contain the color white. I really love those contrarieties .Using black ink, one fills in a single circular eye while thinking of a wish. Should the wish later come true, the second eye is filled in. It is traditional to fill in the right eye first; the left eye is left blank until the wish is fulfilled.

Many of the Daruma dolls are male but there is a female daruma doll. It is called "ehime daruma" or "princess daruma."

Bye for now
Linda

Hi dear Linda! Your blogs are wonderful and very informative. Keep up the good work :-). All the best, Ana Paula.

Always is better to know about other countries, in my country for example there is Juayua's gastronomic Festival, and that place you can know and taste food come frome to another countries like Spain, China, etc. depend of the day. and you can eat trdicional food from El Salvador too, and buy typical handicraft. it's like a touristic place, but its food is very good.Ahhh and its principal atractios is the "ancas de rana" like a frog's feet...i have never tasted them, but the people say that it's delicious. But I don't know and i wouldn't want to know.

Hi Linda. I have to say you are doing really a big effort to recover the missed time, I mean those days when your computer was out of service. Pilse seems absolutly atractive, but for me, the highligt is still pilsener beer. If someday I go there that will be my goal. In that case, could you receive a drunk south american traveller, just for a few hours of sleep. Best wishes...

Hello Linda! Hey very interesting all your explanations of this Aniversary and those male and female dolls. But I have to confess to you that those dolls with mustache and with a blank eyes are a little scary. Hey what about are those skeletons behind that woman with a typical-type clothe? regards from Brazil!

Hello Linda, it's a very interesting entry indeed. Did you buy any Daruma doll for yourself? Best wishes, Naheed

Hi Linda, I've seen in the reception of a work plant one doll similar at your pic of a pair of red dolls with white eyes and mostache. My guide said me that was placed there the opening day and it help to catch good luck. Congratulations for your great comentaries. See you, Toni.
