Star Wars.
Hi Simon and friends,
How was your weekend? Did you all have a great time? Well, I hope so :-).
São Paulo is a place where you can see many interesting exhibitions. In June I went to one which celebrated 30 years of Star Wars. This film was a milestone in the cinema history. The film had revolucionary special effects, very good actors in the cast and an extremely gripping story, which are the essential elements to a good sci-fi film.
Anyway, althouth Star Wars celebrated its 30 years last year, the exhibition only came to Brazil in 2008. I´m a big fan of the Jedi´s saga. I´m very fond of the classic trilogy. As a matter of fact, I really wanted to be a Jedi knight when I was a child :-O. Well, you know, the Jedi honour code, the lightsaber, master Yoda, Ben Kenobi and Darth Vader were very appealing to me. I guess they still are :-).
Here are some pictures of the exhibition:

Hello Ernesto! I haven´t heard about the writers you´ve mentioned. However, I´m going to google them soon :-).
Hey Carmen! I also loved the film based on High Fidelity. Besides, you´re right. John Cusack is really great :-).
Hi Toni! Thanks for your book recommendantions :-). You can be sure I´m going to look for them soon. By the way, three months ago I read a Paul Auster´s book called The New York Trilogy. It was a recommendation of a friend of mine, Carmen. The book was a delightful surprise, apart from being very thrilling. I guess you´ve already read it. Anyway, there´s a book, which was recommended by a former teacher blogger, Stephen Keller, called “ The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night by Mark Haddon. Well, this book is great because it´s funny, clever and the language used isn´t difficult to understand. Anyway, I hope we can hear in the future your opinion about the book of our friend Woody ;-).
Nice to meet you Daniele! You´re learning English by yourself, aren´t you? Wow! Congratulations! You have a very good Englsih indeed :-).
Hey Karoum! I guess the greedy spam has been in action these days.
Hi Ewa! Nice to see you again too :-). Oooh… Anne Of The Green Gables was my first book when I was a beginner in English :-).
Hi Liz! So you´re going to be a business woman :-). Well, Lady Susan is the Jane Austen book that I haven´t read yet. Moreover, Persuasion is my favourite of her books. This book is really adorable. Have a go when you could, ok? :-)
Hello dear Bïa! You´re welcome :-). I agree with you. When you read you learn a lot from different cultures and you can discover so many nice and interesting things :-).
Hi Haliza! There´s a discussion board about Skype on BBC LE group on Facebook.
Hey Maurício! I reckon you´re talking about Crime and Punishment. This book is great indeed. It´s very interesting to see how the main character personality changes while you´re reading the story. After commited a crime, his conscience mortifies him and he can´t get rid of the blame and shame that haunted him. Well, I hope you can take up Crime and Punishment again Maurício :-).
Hi Paulo! Oh I´m not the only one who cracks the brain trying to solve the open cloze exercises :-). My teacher always says that reading is a good way to have some improvements in this exercise. But I´m a bit worried. Anyway, Machado is one of my fauvorite Brazilian writers. By the way do you know that the Língua Portuguesa museum has organised an exhibition in celebration of Machado de Assis death centenary? I haven´t visited this exhibition yet. Bu I´m planning on going there soon :-).
Hey Marianna! Ah, when the show starts it´s 7:00 pm here in Brazil. So the time is prefect to me :-).
Hello Nidhin! I´m glad you´re enjoying my blogs :-). Nice to here from you again.
Hi Adri! I guess you´re still very busy with the ‘final touches’ in your new home :-).I´m looking forward to talking to you too.
Hello Tiasha! My last blog was just a little message to our teacher know that I liked the song. Thanks for your kind and supportive words. I´m very happy to hear that and these words give me the strenght to keep going :-).
Well, that´s all for today friends. Tomorrow I´ll be back in order to write my last blog and bid you farewell.
All the best,
Ana Paula.

Hi Ana ! Great photos of the Star Wars exhibition ! Too bad the exhibition wasn't in Argentina. Actually I'm not into the saga but I admit they made an excellent job with the special effects and costumes. I'm more into Harry Potter :D OK I'll try to read Persuasion (gonna make an effort to find time to do just that!) Is just that the style is old English so everytime I start reading it I give up because I'm used to reading stuff at internet, magazines and in Peruasion the expressions can be old-fashioned sometimes so I'm having a hard dealing with it. But I WILL read it anyway ! My weekend was so so...I had to study for an exam so I didn't go out. But next weekend..... those clubs better be prepare for me hahaha. How about you? Hugs, Liz
Hey Ana, speaking of Star Wars, the most amazing part of them has been its vehicles, so sophisticated indeed. I suppose, attending the exhibition must have been an exciting experience for you. Best wishes, Naheed xxx
Hi everyone, I hope life is treating you all well. I am sorry for my silence folks, I haven´t taken part in the conversation for a while, because of a very sad shooting incident in Finland. The episode was almost just as the one a year ago. Somehow I have been effected by it… it feels as it is not safe anymore to express oneself openly on the Internet. I do know this site is safe, and the conversation is done on a mutual understanding and respect for others. Nevertheless, I want to wish you all a very happy times. No doubt I will keep on visiting this site. Thank you Ana Paula for lively writings.
Dear Ana Paula! Yesterday, I came at home and from my not so neatly organized bookshelves I took out five books which were my favourite reading when I looke back at the decade of your age. It started with Marcus Aurelius Antoninus and one of the twelve philosophical meditative books ´Talks to myself´(my translation), which according to the tradition had been written by this Roman Emperor somewhere in the region where I live. Another was Henri Beyle, known as Standhal ´On Loveˇ1822. The next, Vasilij Šukšin, russian writer and film director who received the Golden lion price on the 16 IFF Venice. The work here named as ˇIf I have known...´ is selected notes and correspodence edited by his wife after his dead. The last was Alexander Matuška, similar type of book, talks and opinions about literature and human. He was brilliant, very little known, slovak literary critic. As to not being too weird, my favourite story tellers was William Saroyan. Of course, the most of mentioned books are written in czech language which was normal here. That time namely, we lived in not so open world here and books weren´t accesible in original languages (even not in russian!). Dear Ana, as ever, you are so cheerful friend. I wish you all the best in your endeavour to achieve the FCE degree with the best result!
Hi, Ana! It's a pity that my yesterday's comment to your Saturday blog didn't appear yet... Maybe it will be shown later because of time delay, because I'm curious to read your answer :) Ha-ha, it's 02 a.m. by me when the radio show starts, so I miss it because I'm a real sleepyhead. The month seems to have flown by! It was very interesting in your company!
Hey Ana Paula, I'm also into Star Wars, but the most interesting and amizing fact is, as I see it, that the small part of the story that was made a film of originally belongs to a substantial amount of around 80 books (That's only a guess). That's quite hard to imagine, don't you think? Imagine every book would have been made a film of? ^^
Hey Ana, the pics of the Star Wars exhibition are really great. Quiet recently I watched Episode 3 on TV. Though I didn't like the Episode series very much the transformation from Anakin Skywalker into Darth Vader is absolutely fascinating. When Darth Vader does his first special breath - my own breath stops immediately :-D On that note: stertorously, Carmen xxx
HI,Anna It's been foul and wet here.It seems winner definitely sets in. My weekend wasn't bad.My husband took my son to a rally on last Saturday so I could have a wonderful me time.I read some pages of the book, and watched a movie called PS:I love YOU.It is a good film. After watching it I went to Autumn Food Festival in local and bought some scrumcious sausages for a dinner.I believe that the local sausages are one of the most famous food in England. It's like time has been frying and the time has come to say goodbye to you.As I said before I have had a wonderful time with you.I'll be kept my fingers crossed for you in Nomember around the time you take The FCE exams.thanks again and see you around.xx
Hi Aniah! How are you?. I think you had enjoyed your weekend alot, good to know that you found sometime for yourself from your soul destroying job :P. Well, when it comes to talk about StarWars i think im also a big fan of Scifi movies. Have you seen the 'Matrix'?. The story of this movie is also gripping and you can glued to it till end. The movie introduced a new concept of life, hasn't it?. Also, i'll crossed my fingers for your FCE exams too, right Ana?. Goodluck and bye.
Hi my friend, Hope this comment appears, it's fustrating when you write something and then realize that it has vanished. Anyway, I know you had a whale of a time at the exhibition. I love the pictures you took. A.Paula, I wanted to say that your blogs were fabulous and full of life (as you are). Thank you for sharing all these things with all of us. See you soon, xxx Cris
Dear Ana, If the exhibition comes to Porto Alegre I'll try to see it. It would be a great oportunity, certainly. Well, my weekend was the best in years: I went to the stadium and watched my team beat our greatest rivals, scoring 4-1! About FCE, I think I'm getting better in each part of it, but I'm still worried a little bit. And your blog has helped me a lot. Unfortunately you're leaving us, but while taking it I'll also be supporting for you. Best wishes.
Hi Ana Paula. I love Star Wars too. My favourite carachter is Dart Vader. I think that one of the reasons the last three episodes are not as good as the previous is because the lack of such a dark and powerfull villain. Bye.
Dear Anna, How are you? It had been great pleasure reading your lovely blogs. Unfortunately I couldn't be able to write comments to your blog everyday.Good luck on your FCE exam. My best wihes for your bright future.
