Welcome to the month of August !

Hi everybody!

I am Kiran Gautam from Nepal.

I am really glad to join this blogger for improving my English communication skill.

At first I would like to thank BBC Learning English Production Team for selecting me as a student blogger for this month of August.

I am totally a beginner. My native language is Nepali. Though I took my higher studies in English medium my English communication skill is not good. English has become very common language. Specially, when we work in a multicultural and multinational working environment it is must. To express myself correctly and to understand others correctly is very important. 5 years ago my friend Swanaam told me to watch TV programmes and listen radio to better my understanding capacity. What he says is the more you listen the more you will understand. Since then I am trying and that has helped me a lot. But still when the time comes for writing I can’t go forward more than a paragraph. About 15 days ago, I was searching audio programme in BBC website, I found English learning programme and this blogger. I read Simon’s blog and comments to that blog too. I also wrote comment on one of the blogs. I found interesting and decided to join this blog. Lucky me I got an opportunity to express myself by writing.

I hope I will get many corrections and suggestions to improve my writing skill from Amy Lightfoot as a teacher blogger for this month.
I was born 28 years before in a small village “Rajhena” of Nepal as a daughter of Mr. Basudev Gautam and Mrs. Bishna Gautam . I was grown up there with my parents and two elder brothers Mr. Navin Gautam and Jivan Gautam. I passed my school leaving certificate from my home town. To study intermediate in Science I came to Kathmandu, capital of Nepal in 1995. At that time we didn’t have college of science and technology in our home town. Since then I am living in Kathmandu. I go to visit my parents once or twice in a year. It’s been 12 years, time is really very short.

I know this month of August will be very short for me.

A warm welcome to all of you in the very first day of this month!

I will try to come up with interesting and informative things in my next blog.

Have a nice weekend!

Hello Kiram Very nice to meet you trough this blog site. Nepal sounds to me like a place far, far, far away, and very exotic too. When I hear words as Katmandu, what comes to my mind are images as high mountains, cold wind, narrow streets, reed roofs. I hope in the following weeks find out if I'm rigth or wrong, with the help of your posts. What you told us about yourself is very interesting indeed, so just keep writing. A warm welcome and till next.

Hello Kiram, Welcome.I have never been to Nepal. I'm looking forward to learn more about you, living in your country, Nepal's great outdoors etc. What your job? Are you married? What kind of science did you study? What is your hobbies? My English is a little boring. I'm 37 and I try to improve my English every day. Hi, I visited this web site after a little while. This is a great site, I was little away from this site because of some other issues, but every day I needed to join again. This is only a one section of this site, and I think we can’t manage our time to visit all the sections here. Did u go to grammar challenge? Go and discover more. And wish you all the best with this blogging. And I can’t believe you mentioned your age, which women doesn’t do normally and also little sad to hear that you visit your family twice a year while still staying in the same country. How far is it from Kathmandu to Rajhena? Is that the distance which prevent you from visiting home?

Hi Kiran, Hearty welcome to the blog. I never missed reading a single entry in this column from previous blogs, so yours too. Please reckon me being as passive listener who read all your post even if I fail to post my comments and looking forward to know more about you here. Happy blogging!. Cheers!.

Hi Kiran Hope you are doing well. Even though Nepal is a small country, its fame reached high as the height of Everest. Every mount climber and adventurer loves to come there and have a go at climbing. Being an Indian I don’t think about your culture will be utterly different from our culture. I love to know more about your country especially politics. regards

Hello, Kiran and everyone. I am Guilherme Brendler, a 22-year-old Brazilian guy. This year, I finish my BA in Communication (Journalism). And English skills are fundamental to me. I am a regular student since 2006. And when my teacher showed to me the BBC Learning English I am so glad because she always encouraged me to search good things on the website. And I think that the best way of write more than one paragraph is reading. And we, the English learners, have an important ally: the internet. I love searching on BBC, The Guardian, New York Times, The New Yorker and other press sites because reading their articles we can improve our vocabulary and to know when something is wrong. Well. I hope that we'll can be friends and share our doubts. Best regards. Guilherme Brendler
