Hello Anne and Readers!
Today I’ll talk about what we eat in Argentina.
Actually there are few dishes that we can consider as typical Argentinean food. The fact is that lots of immigrants came from different European and Asian countries, especially from Italy and Spain, and they brought their culture along with their dishes.
As a consequence, we have a large number of international restaurants (here I’m answering your question, Anne). Oscar and I are keen on French and Italian ones.
The typical Argentinean dishes are “empanadas” (there isn’t any translation to this word but I can say that it’s a kind of pie with a half moon shape and you can fill it with whatever),
EMPANADAS
“locro” (it’s a stew containing meat, beans and vegetables and it’s a typical dish for people who live in the north provinces), “asado” (a special barbecue), and “choripan” (highly-seasoned pork sausage sandwich; it is cooked along with the asado). We eat milanesas (breaded meat) but I think that it was the Italian who first introduced it here.
I also have to mention “DULCE DE LECHE”; it’s a caramel spread made by boiling down milk and sugar. Do you know that it was discovered by accident? Apparently, a maid was boiling milk with sugar to an important national hero and forgot to turn off the cooker. Then, the final result was a brown cream. Dulce de leche is one of my addictions; the other is eating dark chocolates, Anne. Thank God I don’t put on weight.
Changing the subject I want to tell you that luckily there isn’t any smoke in Buenos Aires now. It is a miracle because it didn’t rain but fortunately the wind direction changed a bit.

I was about to ask you to change the type of correction because it took me a long time to find my own mistakes. I see that this new method is better for me. Thank you!
Here is the exercise
We have to wait until Wednesday because the wind direction will change and it is expected to rain. The smoke contains high levels of carbon monoxide which causes sore eyes and a sore throat. It’s very unpleasant to breathe. We have to close all the windows and doors and stay inside. However, smoke can be smelled inside the house because it’s difficult to prevent it from filtering in. For a claustrophobic and allergic person as me, this situation is terrible.

What a lovely job you have Anne. The preparation of the movie material sounds interesting. Watching videos and movies are a fantastic way to learn. Every time I watch one in English I try not to read the subtitles. By the way, the other day Oscar and I went to see “Death in a funeral”. It’s an English comedy. We enjoyed it very much. Oscar loves English sense of humour. I highly recommend it to all of you.
Bernadete, Brazilian coffee is delicious. I went to Brazil many times and love your country immensely.

Hi Chris! Interesting to hear what you eat in Argentina, it's alot different from what we eat here in Norway. The Norwegians are specialists at making something we call "matpakke", in English it would be lunch packet. We bring it with us everywhere, when we walk in the woods and even when we're at work or school.
Hi Cris! It's great to know that the Buenos Aires became clear again, and I wish the smoke doesn't affect your health so much:) The empanadas looks delicious! Is it sweet or salt? Hi Cris. Empanadas are very popular in Chile too. There are several types of them. Empanadas "de pino", a mix of onion, meat, boiled egg, and species. There coould be cooked in the oven or fried. Also cheese empanadas and seafood empanadas, which are my favourites. We have even sweet empanadas, made of apple and pears. We have dulce de leche too, but we call it "manjar". Bye.

Hello Cris. I do like your blog and the way you put down all the thoughts. As I see, there is no need to ask you questions because your writing fulfilled with answers to any question: pace of life, family, kids, childhood, cooking, congestion, environment etc. By reading your blog and Anne’s comments I got acquainted with many tiny specific nuances. What do I mean? The last but not the least one is plain x at the end of blog. I hadn’t any idea about real meaning! I’ve faced x from time to time and do try to imagine the way of misusing of it? For example: to complete chat with man. It’s rather curious for me, as I’m a man.
Hi Cris! I vanished because the work was so hard. Sorry for that. There is a city called Buzios and there are some Argentina restaurants and snacks bars. In one of my holidays in Buzios, I tried Empanadas and it was wonderful. I don’t know if there is an Argentina Restaurant in Rio de Janeiro, I’m going to know about it because I’d like to taste DULCE DE LECHE and other dishes.
I think the food "empanadas" looks like dumpling in china.

Empanadas sounds very delicious, we call that "patties". we make vegetable and meat empanadas. My kids love empanadas. Cris, I was very impressed when I read that you make your dresses by your self. As you,I also make my own cloths. whenever I get leisure time I sew something either for me or my children.Learning sewing is a good investment for woman. Hi Cris, it's so mouth watering to know about food - I love food:). Here in Pakistan, just like ampanada, we make the similar snack which is called samosa the filling can be from potatoes to meat and to different kinds of vegetables. Locro sounded very delicious to me and yes, the caramel which you told about is one of the deserts served in Pakistan and India and it's called 'Rabri'it is made by the same recipe as you described. Dear Cristina, It is really a pleaser to know that you needn’t to suffer from smoke anymore. Nobody knows what an unexpected event happened when and where. The information about Argentinean food and its picture is very much mouth watering. Though your description gave an idea that it is somewhat similar to dumpling, but it may be different taste wise. Hi Cris, I only hear good things about Argentinean food from friends that have been to Argentina. They always say they have to return to Argentina just to have mutton or lamb. They say it's incomparable. Xxxo Adri
Hi Cristina! Empanadas look like our "panzerotti", we fill them with mozzarella,ham and tomato sauce. They can be fried or baked. Goodnight!
