Happy New Year 2008!!
Happy new year!!
Hi everyone!
I’m back home. As I told you some time ago, I’ve been to Madrid for the last 7 days to spend my Christmas holidays. I couldn’t drop you a line because where I stayed there was no internet facilities, nor any place with computers or Internet connections. Unfortunately, we had any blackberry or any handle that was wi-fi capable. Besides, we were from one place to another all the time. We had a lot of planned excursions. We visited Toledo, Segovia, la Granja de San Ildefonso, El Escorial, etc. Also we planned some outings to the countryside.
Apart from those trips, we spent two days just in Madrid. It’s a huge city with lots of things to see and experience. On New Year’s Eve we went to a musical. I have to admit that it went far beyond our expectations. We were really satisfied and had a great time. The refreshment was provided, and also drinks were on the house. We had a cotillion bag for each one that had twelve grape seeds, champagne and all kind of stuff that people wear at parties.
The city centre was literally packed with people. The place most crowded was Sol square, where is the famous clock that struck twelve. We saw the “campanadas” (the twelve rings of a bell) during a break in the performance through a big screen that connected with sol square.
Now, I’m drained…..I have to unpack my bags and rest a little bit after having too little sleep for many days…. When one is out, one has to taste day and night life.
What about you? What have you done lately??
Best wishes,
silvia

Happy new Year. I supose that you are finishing your participation here. I can tell you that here it is very very warm. We do not eat fish for the holidays. The dinner was with lamb meat and all kind of salads. It was a surprise for me that there were theatre and other shows at the very end of the year. Here it is all closed, and January 1º you have no transportation. The city is almost empty, and you can walk or go to the beach. Bye
Happy new Year. You had a great time for your holidays, as i can read in your nice blog. In my country during Xmas eve we spend most of the time in family and we have big fat dinner,as food is almost a holy thing here. On 31st of december we usually have a heavy dinner, based on fish and meat too, and after we use to spend the rest of the night dancing in a disco or staying at home with family, playing cards too. Many cards game are played only on this eve. At midnight my family and me were looking at fireworks just out of the window and did each other best wishes by a kiss on every cheek, rising up a glass of champagne. yes, i know, i drank more than only one glass but i'm sure i wasn't drunk... The day after that is the 1st of this year we got time to rest ourselves and have another big lunch, while all around is pretty quiet...

Happy New Year to everybody. You had a wonderful time at the land of Bullfighting. Here we celebrated New Year with our family and cousins. We also had a great time burning firecrackers and all.All the best.Bye
Dear Silvia, I am happy to read you again. Not having seen any message from the BBCLE team does that mean that you will stay for the rest of January ? That would be nice. Toledo is a very nice city as well as Segovia. When you have time try to visit Salamanca, Avila, Burgos, etc. In fact almost all the Spanish capital-cities have their particular interest. You are still young you have time to visit them. There is so many history in their streets, walls, churches, …. This is mi last day in Spain. Tomorrow I go back home to Belgium. Antonio.

And i just booked the ticket to Guilin, China for three days as my first travel. and i hope i can go many many other places just like you. Looking forward to seeing your next letter, bye~

Happy New Years to everyboby. I'm Ivana, this is the first time I'm writing in the blog. I read Silvia's experience in Madrid, I'd like to visit Spain, it's my favourite country and I love Spanish people. Unfortunately my Christmas holiday wasn't so captivating because I stayed at home with my family and I worked as I owner of a pub and during the 31º evening I organised a party. I celebrated with my best customer and friends. Anyway, it didn't go bad. Ivana
