Christmas meals

Hi everyone,

Yesterday was my company Christmas meal. I couldn’t post anything, because I was out for the whole day (and night).

In the morning I went to work as usual. Then, in the midday the company staff was invited to eat in one of the best hotels of Alicante. The meal was great, and it was really funny to be with the colleagues out of our workplaces, since many of them are quite different depending on the environment. Also, many gifts were raffled. Unfortunately I didn’t get any. I never have luck!

After the long meal, all the people there went to a pub that is in a disco area just in front of the hotel we had been eating. That area is actually in the city harbor, and has always been quite in fashion among people from the whole region of Alicante that go every weekend there.

It was really strange to be in a disco at 7 o’clock in the evening. Normally, people go out at that time to have a coffee, a tea, a beer, or something like that…but never to go to a disco to dance, drink rum with cola, whisky, or beer….or water. Usually, people go out round midnight till daybreak. First, they go out to have something to drink, or do a “botellón”. This one is what most young people do. It consists of buying bottles of alcohol, cola or what one prefers to mix it with, and then go out to a meeting point where there are lots of people drinking and listening to the music of their car radio. A botellón can last a long time after midnight. You couldn’t imagine how many people meet in those places just to drink as much as they can….it’s insane! Aftewards, if you aren’t tired enough, you can go in a club, a disco or wherever you prefer to.

In my case, after being for more than 3 hours in the disco, some of us decided to leave to have dinner. Once we have had dinner, I was completely drained, and my feet hurt me too much. It was past one o’clock, and it had been a long day. So, I came back to Elche, and I slept till midday….I needed it!

Now, I’m full of energy for my next dinner, which is tonight, with my university friends…..I don’t know why, but I’m having the feeling that I’ll come back home early in the morning. I haven’t been in contact with most of them for a long time, and I’m looking forward to seeing them again!

If you didn’t know it, I’m working for a company that is established in Alicante, but actually belongs to a big company from Barcelona. It’s one of the most important water companies in Spain. If you have recently been to Barcelona, one of the newest buildings that stands out above the others is the company headquarters, the Agbar tower block. It has a cone shape,it's also covered with glass panes and has a multicoloured lighting at night.

Jonathan, I’ve been reading your latest posts, and all the comments I haven’t been able to read for the last two days.

Well folks, today I haven’t answered your comments. However, tomorrow I’ll be back, and I won’t forget to make you some comments about what you told me about, and also about the celebrities that I didn’t mention who they are.

Jonathan, thank you for correcting my mistakes. You are all so kind!

Jonathan, I really appreciate both your and others bloggers’ words. You help me a lot!

Now, I want to show you a couple of photos of my company meal.

See you tomorrow,

silvia

Hello Silvia, two meetings in two days/nights : I suppose you have a very good constitution. On the one hand a meeting could be funny and interesting , on the other hand it could be also strenuous, physical and mental. The photos from your Christmas meal are very nice. Next week I will have a Christmas celebration from my work. I work in a social-psychiatric association and we celebrate together with our clients. We create the programm ourselves. There are different groups, getting different tasks. This year our group have the theme " France, country of love and fashion" A few days before the Christmas celebration we don't know how to work it all, but in the end all take a good course. I wish you a nice meeting with your university friends. See you soon...

Hi,Silvia. You seem to have had a wonderful weekend. So nice. Your company is full of energetic young people, isn't it? We spent all last weekend on house cleaning. We (I & my husband) disposed a lot of stuff which were not used this year or not necessary for us anymore. We were astonished at how many stuff we possesed unnecessarily. That showed we were so uncontrolled and unorganized persons. We swore firmly that we would not have stuff more than we needed. But as soon as we finished cleaning, my husband went to PC and found a nice and reasonable (but wide and tall!)weight training equipment. Do you know what he said? "Hey, thanks to the cleaning, we can make a lot of free space. And you need to keep fit after your delivery 11 months ago. Let's buy this machine!"

Hi Silvia, I liked the sentence you used, I looking forward...... Can I use this sentence in bussiness letters, like i am looking forward your mail. If any one know please tell me. bye

Your article is good ,company meal is also good .I know that your have a good time .

Hello-hello Silvia, this "botellon" thing sounds fun. Do you still do it? I happenned to be at a similar sort of party in England, but instead of a car radio there was a proper huge sound system and the party was held in the woods. I had never been to anything like this before that occasion. I myself am not a wine lover, so I felt a bit out of place at first. But guess what I ended up being? Yes, drunk. The thought of which makes me cringe. But at least I wasn't the drunkest person there and I didn't pick a fight with anybody :) I am a good person. Sincerely, Ana

Hi Silvia!, firstly, congratulations for your outstanding english level, enjoy your Christmas time and I agree with you to rescue the spirit. Thanks for your overview about Valencia your nice city (no town),their history and the valencian language. I was in Barcelona almost 15 years ago and remind some words in catala than I suppose is very similar. good luck with your job, bye for now Adeu

Hi Silvia! I think you deserve several gifts because I'm improving my English toward your texts. Anyway, I guess you will enjoy to share a moment with your unviversity's friends. It's alway exiting to meet some old friends again. In Guinea, Christmas is not a big event like the others muslim's party. Tomorow, we will celebrate l'Aid (which is a big party). bye

you are so lucky because of having a great party for x'mas. I'm a student. In my country ,X'mas event is on our final exam so it's hard to do anything for x'mas. your english is so good.

Hola, Silvia!:) I should say, your blog sessions are really great, so impressive!!! Very nice of you! I just wanted to express my special congratulations on that case! By the way, you really made me feel so great when I came across these articles! I will tell you why - I was living for about six months in Gandia(Comunidad Valenciana) and spent really wonderful and unfogettable time there! I should confess, that Spain is a splendid and warm country with so many warm, charmful and open-minded people! I never felt myself away from home whilst being there! I have travelled around all Europe, but that still remains a very special place for me! I got really crazy by reading about your Paella recipe! Wow! That is one of my favourite Spanish meals....I would not be wrong if I even say the most favourite one!:) I adore it!!! Spain, in particular Gandia and Valencia, left a deep trace inside of me! I love their beaches, their meals, their fests(Las Fallas) and mostly their people!:) I hope I will come back for a holiday visit one day!:) Silvia, you are a nice, clever and enthusiastic young person! I sincerely wish you a great Success in both personal life and career, many exciting moments and an eternal flame of your eagerness and will to learn! Have a nice and wonderful time during the Christmas and New Year fests! With Best Regards from Bulgaria, Kancho
