Porridge and almost farewells

Hi again, yes sadly the month of November is almost over, I will have a hard job to adjust after writing my blog almost daily for a month. I am sure it is even harder for you Rachel, not only because you have been doing it for two months, but because your role, compared to mine, have been even tougher.

But I am certain I will be supporting the next student blogger; I know how important it is to get feedback. I never forget the kindness all of you have shown to me. I know I am not going to be able to match Ana Paula in writing frequency and it is more unlikely that I reach the participating regularity of Naheed either, but I will stay with you for sure. Good think is that three of us like cheese and fudge, if I remember correctly!!

Rachel we don´t here in Oulu have such a distinguish landmark as Sydney Harbor Bridge is. But our church is a very beautiful building and I could also refer to our High Tech Boulevard near the heart of Oulu.

While I remember I must also mention that I have added a new link > Finnish waterways. There is a very nice photo archive you may want to have a look. Some of you were interested about the lakes in Finland. Well, this site is a very good one to browse through.

Yes Kirsti you are right I did forget to mention the rice porridge, I remembered the issue during the night. Myself I am very fond of porridge, in fact I love rice porridge, not only Christmas time, I would eat it any time.

A few more words about education; I do remember when Katri was studying that the students were sort of offered different courses form a study programme plate and as I understand it, one has to select certain number of courses to follow through.

While I am writing I am doing my laundry, the water is whizzing and at times it almost feels as the washing machine has gone berserk, such different sounds I can hear from the bathroom. We live in an apartment very close to the centre of Oulu. I am sorry to say, that we are not able to see such beautiful birds from our window as you can Rachel.

My day at work was rather busy today, and the days continue to be so, as I have a lot to accomplish before the end of the year. The days never seem to be long enough, do they?

I will be back tomorrow, so long until then!

Today my picture is of reindeers, just in case you never have seen the pictures of them. I don´t know who has taken the photo as it is from Internet and the copy right was not identified.

Dear Leila, I write directly now just in case of comments display problems. I have liked very much your blogs that have made me remember some nice moments I have spent in your beautiful country. By the way we have planned to spend at least two weeks, in August, next year. We’ll spend some days near Gallen Kallela’s house in Ruovesi surroundings, my children have already been there but I want to get them know also Savonlinna. Maybe I’ll drive them to Rovaniemi too. By the way probably I missed it but, have you written a sentence about mosquitoes ? ;-) All the best. Antonio

Hi, Leila and everybody. When I was young we had often, during my first school years, porridge to eat at school. I think Finland is one of the very few countries offering free lunch to all their pupils and I also think the food is tastier now compared to what it was in the fifties. – Leila, I came to Paris to see my daughter a few hours ago. I don’t think I will use the computer very much during my stay here, so I would like to thank you for your blog of the past month. Thank you, it has been very interesting.

Hello Leila, Thank you so much for such lovely words! Your expression 'cheese and fudge' reminded of Ana Paula's blog. It really has been a wonderful experience to know more about you, your family, your work and most of all the life in Finland. I must say that Finland is a beautiful country and when you showed us the photos of the snow, I really felt it like a place of dreams. There's one more thing that I really forgot to mention in my previous comment, it's the rhyme, I really liked it. And, Leila, you seem to like the name I gave Touho as a compliment 'Brown Beauty',don't you? I liked those reindeers. All the best wishes to you and everyone. Naheed

Hi Leila!!! Oh, It´s early to think about farwells Leila. By now, I want to enjoy your company :-). By the way, yes, you just remember that delightful dessert, which was sent by Gods to us. Yummy! ;-)Unfortunatly, I don´t have cheese and fudge at home today. Have a wednesday, Ana Paula. PS- lovely reindeers, lovely landscape.

hi leila, when i was in sweden last september i ate the meat of deer. it was very deliciouse. i want to know the priode of kamos days i mean how long it take ? my swedish friends told me that it is near two month in the north of their country. are there any difrence in your habitude during this periods? best regarg

Hi Leila! What I want to say to you is that I gave a bit of time to read again your post from the beginig of November. I used to do so sometimes with the old interesting post. As I am in to watching Tv programmes about traveling and countries I have to say, too, that I can´t remember of any which would have refered about Finland as such. What a pity. And you maybe know that I love to paint herds of animals or birds. There is waiting in my mind for gripping it on a paper a picture of huge running reindeers herds which fascinate me ever again. You have been proving for the whole month what an inspirative woman you are. Enjoy your days!

Dear Leila, there is also another side of the coin. Once your blog is finished, you will suddenly come into the possession of lots of spare time, the time you were spending to write a blog. And you have become famous now, too. Yes, you are famous :) Imagine walking along one of Oulu's streets and all people around nodding and nudging each other and staring at you and saying “Hey, this is the Blog Girl!”. How would you like it?! By the way, I did see reindeer in one of the islands in Scotland. There were five of them and we were on a tourist coach. The reindeer were jumping elegantly over some small wire fence on their way somewhere else. Wish you to breeze through December easily so you will have loads of energy and enthusiasm left for the festive season. Sincerely, Ana
