A happy student here again
Rachel I am so pleased that it is you, who is tutoring me. When writing my first entry yesterday I was uncertain who the tutor was going to be and when noticing that it was my possum friend from down under I was delighted. I hope that by the time we depart at the end of November, we have grown to be possum bosom friends.
I also want to pass on my thanks to my student colleagues; I appreciated your warm welcome. I promise to tell a lot about Finland; about our culture, history, economics, weather, tradition, my family and of course about Santa Claus. I will try to have a different topic every day and my entries are going to be more interesting as from next Monday, as I said yesterday, I have been working very long hours and I still have many things to catch up with.
Rachel I do not mind you being short. I am a person, who tries to write with limited words. Reason for that is… I confess that I am rather impatient person; long windiness is not my favourite as I am so fast with my moves. The reason for above is that I always have so much to do.
I will try to correct my errors:
1. I do my best to keep you interested = I will do my best….
2. I’ve been watching American Idol on / in TV = this one I always find very tricky, but I guess it should be on TV (my intuition tells me that), and yet the picture is “inside.”
Rachel I do know Waltzing Matilda, when I lived in New Zealand I had a pleasure to hear it a lot. I would like to hear the story behind it. Pavlova I also like and I do adore the sound of didgeridoo.
As the weekend is coming, I would like to share the following with you.
“The true wealth of a nation lies not in it`s gold or silver but in it´s learning, wisdom, and in the uprightness of it´s sons”. Kahil Gibran.
Rachel thank you for picking up my mistakes, I trust you continue to do so. During the weekend I am going to put my best foot forward. Feet remind me of the promised account of Chris’s best shoes …

Hi, dear Leila!Wouldn´t it mind when I write you twice today? I do know you speak and learn Swedish along with English, too. I desire to learn French since my teen-Winnetoo-adoring time. Meanwhile, I´ve learnt German (and forgot it) but I still find it difficult to start French until I am not sure enough about English. Reading Paulraj´s comment I remembered as I had watched a Bergman´s film recently, in Swedisch with subtitles. Suddenly, without looking at the screen I realised with a suprise that I understand the speach. I looked at the screen and saw the scene Isabelle Rosselini was actually speaking on a phone in English. I was at a loss for a while because I don´t try watching English spoken films any more. I´ve got always so exasperate watching them and not understand any bit. That´s what my abbilities are! Wonderful relaxing weekend to you!
Terve Leila, My welcome arrives one day late because I am not at home but somewhere at the Belgian coast spending a week in family as in Belgium children have a week leave for the First of November. I like very much your country. I have been there several times. Unfortunately I have only passed through Oulu by train; I think to remember on the way to Rovaniemi. I do not know if I am a good singer, but when I was younger I used to play guitar and sing, sometimes in solo, sometimes with a group. Today I play mostly for my own pleasure. I must say that I do not understand very well why people associates the act of signing with the fact of taking a shower. I am looking forward to read your blogs and learn more about Suomi. Antonio.
hi leila, welcome to this blog. its really nice to know about finland , its culture and everything from you .As i am from india and i have never been to finland , so it will be a good experience by knowing things about your country. keep going :)
Hello, dear compatriot. (I'm Finnish, though I have been living in France since the beginning of the 70's). I've seen you occasionally on the Learning English Communication board. - So you are an impatient person. Are you lacking that feature being so characteristic of Finns: the 'sisu'? You might need it for the coming month. Did the BBC LE team contact you or had you at any moments asked to be a blogger? Good luck.
Hi Leila, I'm late but I'd like to welcome you too. I'm eager to know about your country and hear about your lifestyle and evrething you want to share with us. Don't worry about the blog. It will be interesting. Be happy and good luck!
Hi Leila, I have read your second post and I will be impatient waiting your description of Finland!! Bye
hi leila, nice to meet you and know more about your beautiful country. i'd like to know more about your name,it's meaning. do you think that it's useful to learn more than one language at the same time?
Hi Leila!!! How are you doing? I hope your weekend can be relaxing and you can recharge the batteries. So... you have lived in New Zealand, haven´t you? Could tell us a bit about it please? Enjoy your weekend, Ana Paula.
Hi Leila! It seems that you are going to be a very dedicated blogger (2 days, 2 posts!) While rading the comments on your post I realised that I’m not the only one who sings bad, but I will coninue doing it in spite of criticism because I’m very stubborn! Talking seriously, do you know something about the cellulose plant that mentioned Betriz from Urugauy in her comment? Without going into detail, It is a huge Finnish cellulose processing plant that was built in the Uruguayan side of the Uruguay river. This river is shared by the two countries as a boundary.Argentina is against the plant because considers that it would pollute the river. The Uruguayan, on the other hand argue that this plan will have a possitive impact on the river…Do Finnish people say something about it? I’d like to know your opinion about it Have a nice weekend! Best regards
Hi to all and how is life? It's my first day to this blog, I love to reay these what you are written. just wanted to say thanks to all and I like to join you if you like, kisses
Hey up Liela, while reading your post I stopped at Santa Claus and thought for a while that you must be going to tell something interesting about. I'm impatiently looking forward to reading it. Naheed
dear leyla i read your blog it is very nice .I inever been in finland but i read abut it $ so try to come and see your contry.
Hi Leila! Passing around all responses reveals to me that you're facing a bit challenge of how you're going to your entries since everyone is expressing his great anticipation of topics from you, and I also know it'll be harder for you who are telling us you're in short of time. Everyone else is in fact in this state and trying to keep as short and sweat as he or she can. Don't feel to put you off! Again, as long as you're clear on your mind what you're going to go over about your land, values, culture, yourself etc, I do know for sure that you'll keep everyone stay around in your site. You're starting off a great input in the second post when rolling down a well-known saying from Kahil Gibran. I'll have a go first. This man means to judge the wealth or the well-being of a nation by rating the culture, values, wisdom, people, or even spiritual issues etc rather than natural resources. Hum... In my opinion, this view could be true in the past when natural resources had been rated insignificantly, however, it will not entirely right in today world. I'm not disputable if the combination of this view is used in place. To be fair, the spiritual richness and the national resources are playing the significantly same role to help a country in its development. Vietnam is a good example to illustrate. We're all aware that lacking national resources can not help our growth, so the government and the people over there are taking pain to reach economic achievements whilst they amingly do not damage these resources. Still, we're sadly striving for the well-being! Is everyone here with me? Goodonya Leila to post this in your second entry. Some people out there may detest me and I sound sucks on this comment, but I do hope not. Lovely weekend!

Hi leila, I cant wait to hear from you about Finland since I like travelling and enjoy knowing about different cultures .
Hi Leila, I am reading some information of the Finland, and the city of Oulu¸ and reread your comments on my blog of May 2007. Europe, I had only been Paris. Finland, my first thinking is that it’s a fairytale place, probably it’s the sake of the lakes and forests. Whatever, anyway, it’s a place for people got their desire to be there. May you have a nice weekend and the following days. Talk you next time.
Hello Leila! It's very nice to meet you! I'm happy to know more about you and Finland. Our national anthem is called 'Tien quan ca' that means 'Marching to the front' in English, was composed by a twenty-one-year-old musician - one of my favourites. I like singing. Somtimes I go to a karaoke club with friends, who assess me a OK singer. Bathroom is also my studio. Best wishes, Myen.
I want to know more about the education of finland as well as about the culture and the weather of finland
Hi,i'm sorry but it is Khalil Gibran not kahil as you have mentioned the name in your blog
Thanks for all your contributions. This blog has now closed and can no longer accept new comments.
