The man with decency and decorum
The E-learning Resource Centre in the campus
October 10
Hi Rachel and everyone...
Today, I'm going to write about a Professor in my first year...
Well...writing about him is really a tough task to take up.
It was our first day in GITAM. We were in class having a formal introduction with each other when he entered the class. He was tall and thin having a bald head. The damage to his hair seem to be unnatural. He stood on the dias adjusting his spectacles. Looking up ( probably focussing on some point on the ceiling!), he started uttering a few words. We didnot understand even a single word. At first, I thought he was speaking in some Latin or French language. I'd quickly gone through the syllabus brochure to look whether we have any such Foreign Language Programmes and I could not find any such things.Suddenly, I heard two words from him...Decency and Decorum. From those two words, I thought he was an English Professor. But how can one become an English professor with that accent? For the next one hour, he was giving a lecture on something which was beyond our imagination..we tried to guess the topic on which he was speaking...and they proved to be wrong the other day.The next day, the ma'm who come for Engineering Graphics told us who he was....
Surprisingly, he is the Head of the Department of Chemistry.
The next week in our Chemistry lab, he asked all of us to do water to water titration. At the end of the day, we ended up having hand pains...
And do you know how we commute from our rooms to the college...
Have a look at this picture...

okay...that's all for today...
Satya...
Life is creative...

Hey up Satya! Our countries are similar in so many ways. I'm from Karachi and the main university here, called as Karachi University. The university offers buss service, and they are crammed with students just as the one in picture you have posted. You will get to see this kind of scene even in the public busses. I've been to India and we mostly used to commute by train and it used to be so crowded that we sometimes had to reach the station earlier to get into a less crowded train. But we had a great time there. Looking forward to reading more from you! Naheed:)
Oh Satya!!! dont post photo like this. say somthing good about India.
Hello Satya! Oh, the picture you showed us today makes me remember my city in the rush hour. Boy, the buses are so crowded that even to breath is difficult. Well, I know what you mean when you wrote about having your hands aching after doing an analyse by tritation. Actually, I spend all my day analysing samples by titration. Therefore, in the end of the day my wrist is always aching. :-) Anyway... Catch ya later, Ana Paula.
Hello Satya, it's glad to read your blog here. The story is so interesting. Looking forward to your more entries for reader. Thank you and have a good day! See you later!
Hi Satya, It's very interesting to hear your story, how can you understand the Professor if his accent is so different? I am still waiting for your special issue of stealing examintation paper. By the way, I want to know, if the buses are so crowded, how can the girls get to the bus? Virginia
pls help me! How to become a member of this blog? Tks so much!
Hi Satya, Just have a look the picture which you posted. Our country still had this event some years ago.Luckily, the bicycles and motorbikes are bought very cheap in our country, so most of students and people go to school or some place by their own means, Only a little people take the bus. However, in the rush hours ,traffic jam often happen everyday.
hello Satya! I've read all your blog, it's quite interesting! I wish you every happiness and joy. I looked at picture.. gee! You're supermen :) Have a good day
Hey up and G´day, Satya! I am looking to read your first science-fiction novel when you finished it. You´ll have to send me a copy of it ;-)). ------The photo of the crowded bus you´ve posted is funny but it seems to be tha same all over the world. Busses and Trains in Germany are crowded mostly in rush-hour when most people use them to go to their workplace and afterwards from their workplace back home. The Germans most loved way to travel is by car and so we have crowded highways every time.
Hello Satya! The great picture reminds me of when I was at university. Also, we used to be so crammed onto the buss that some of us even had stood on only one leg till the bus driver put on the brake all of a sudden then we could on our both. We're no longer in that case, facing regular snarl-up. Terrible!!! Anyway I wonder how the guy in yellow shirt could cling to the bus. I'm waiting for the next blog. best wishes, Myen.
Hi Satya, I just don't want to believe that this problem of public transport is everywhere! In my country I think it is worse. Not only for students of higher learning instituions, but also with primary schools pupils. Imagine a standard one students aged five years old, trying to force in a crammed bus like the one you had posted! It is surely, life and death!
Hi Satya, It is interesting to know that you were attending the class without knowing the subjects. Some times it happens like that in many places. These kinds of professors are well versed in their subjects. But they have problem in communication. Now days many management of the colleges are organizing special training on communications to the teaching professionals. It produces results. We can see over crowded in the buses every where in our country. There is no difference in cities and villages. I find it difficult to describe the agony of commuters during the peak hours. That was one of the reasons I left Chennai and settled in small town. Are you a good photographer? It was nice. Actually I was expecting some of your photos from SASTRA. Didn’t you take any one? You must be busy with your internals. All the best.
Jajaja, Satya crowded busses are the same problem aroud the world,(I think for all readers comments)here in México is not different in rush hours always happens this I used to take a bus to get to my workplace and sometimes I´m on the stairs. Well Satya hope you to have a great day, take care bye.
Hey,Satya! I was really suprised when I saw what Indian students had to do to get to university...I can't imagine Russian students doing it.In compare with what I've seen in that photo, our students just have a nice time sleeping and eating in the trains on their way to university. That's funny...
Hi Satya. It's nice to visit your blog and funny stories you've brought in to me. I'm not so surprised to catch your photo how students and Indian people are commuting within their country. People are packed in small buses which display torn out and out of safety conditions. The situation becomes worse in another photo I've ever looked at. Local people share space in the top of the buses where goods or animals are usually placed in. Perhaps, you do not want us to view such horrible screens! The only thing surprises me that they seem to be accustomed to and there are no large voice screamming up for the life insecurity they will encounter. I guess Indian government is carrying out a plan to improve the case if it doesn't wish to let the death rate steadily climb up. You know, it hardly catch the same situation in Vietnam at present, though some time public or private buses are packed during rushed hour, and bus drivers are likely to turn down receiving more people. I'm await for your next story. Good day.
hello, every body my name is feroz jalal native from afghanitan this is my first time on bbc learning english. my hobby is cooking, talk on politics and make friends ihope i will have a good time with all of you .thanks
hii satya..... din't your college provide any college bus. i think your college is an engineering one. then it must be in some rural place where very rarely buses goes.. i think vizag is a good city, as per my knowledge. in india we are just improving ourself, it just a case of that. i.e. instead of such obstacles not only you people but also many are there who faces such types of problems mut they never compromise with their study. it would definitely make a change in india.and results can be seen how rapidly we are growing in every field. its only due to our spirit ... hoping 4 the best
