The power of GANDHIGIRI

Internet Centre near to my room
October 2*
9.03 IST

Hello Rachel and everyone.
It's raining heavily outside. I Just had a cup of hot tea and rushed to the net centre to blog. I have a very little time today as I have to go to Chennai this afternoon. The fabrication of my robot is not yet completed. Even then, we are starting for Chennai.
Today is the birthday of the Father of My Nation, Gandhi. I'm not going to give you an introduction about him. Instead, I'm going to narrate you an incident which shows the impact of Non violence ( we call it Gandhigiri) in our country.
The other day, I was waiting for the bus pass at the bus station. It was my third day of waiting*. Like me, there were many students waiting for the bus pass . But that day, a group of students came there with a lot of flowers in their hand. I have been watching them for the last three days. They have been coming in the morning, waiting for the bus pass and going home with empty hands. But today they all looked calm. Everybody* was watching them curiously. They had* entered into the Manager's Chamber and placed all the flowers on his table. They have given him a greeting card. On it was written
As you have been suffering from a disease called corruption, we pray to God to make you healthy. Get well soon

And the next day, they all got the passes......

This is just a small incident to show us all the power of Non violence and Peace.

Rachel... sorry for I could* not allot much time to your homework.
I will do the vocabulary part some other day. Now, I'll try to answer the questions you've asked me.
1.What all I know is that we should use singular numbers when we talk about age. I don't know the reason behind this.
2.I think I should have written that sentence as I'm looking forward to seeing you on the comments page.
3. How can I correct the sentence I have started learning English just 4 years ago? I guess it should be I started learning English 4 years ago

Well... replies to reader's comments :
@ Ana from Poland : Ana... many would think that Satya is a female name. Even Amy too thought like that. Anyways...I really like the name. I really feel that my name suits my character ....lol
@Naheed from Pakistan : Hi brother... Thanks for your warm welcome. You will definetely be reading more about India...This time, something about the villages in India and how a person coming from the village leading a sub urban life...so on... Looking forward to seeing you here.
@Antonio from Belgium : Thanks Antonio for your advice. Keep writing comments....

Well...that's it for today...
Hope to see you tomorrow...I'm not sure whether I can write any posts this week. I hope I can get the internet facility in IIT Chennai.
Lots of kisses to Owen...
signing off
Satya...

Hi Sathya, I was much happy when I saw your name in the student blogger this month. I am living in your neighbouring state. you are visiting my state capital today. So I welcome you my state and this site. we can share more this month.

It's a very interesting site for learning english. I am new here but i m enjoying very much. I would better if i learned here before.Thank's everybody.

Hi Satya! Welcome! We have got a man here, yeah, I am pleased! And you seems to be as jocular and energetic person as Adriana was too. I like it much (frankly I am an opposite) and gather that it might come from much sun you may enjoy in both Brasilia and India too. Moreover you are good at computers while I am absolutely helples here. My nephewes went away for they first year undergaduate studying, one to the west and another to the east of this small country, and they have never had patience with me at the subject. For only four years learning your English is very advanced, I will learn a lot from you. I cross my fingers for finishing your robot in time! I loved to read that example telling about Gadhigiri works so succesfuly in the life there. I am looking forward for your more writing!

Welcome Satya!!! :-) I hope you enjoy your month as a student blog, and I also hope you have time able to blog from the symposium. Besides that, I´m looking forward to knowing more about the Robotics event, and of course, about your robot. Good luck! See ya, Ana Paula.

Hi Satya; The idea of Gandhigiri is very clever. Violence breeds violence so it's important to accept that peace breeds peace and violence only makes things worse. In Poland, for an answer to an act of violence people sometimes organize a peace march. I'm looking forward to your next blogs. See you.

Hi, Satya I heard about Ghandi, it was great men. Your tradition connected with this holiday very liked me. Your country ,religion, and tradition is different than in Poland. I feeling,- this blog will be very interesting. (you impressed me with this robot)(my english is poor so, I apologize for mistakes) bye

Hi Satya, It was interesting to read the lesson of Gandhigiri. I think this term has become more famous after the movie 'Lage raho munnabhai' hsan't it? And yes, you wrote me brother becaue I'm from your neighbouring country? or may be you thought that I'm male? oh no! I'm female. Well, you can see my picture too as the student blogger of June 07. Naheed

Hello satya! Let me tell you that I like your name very much, and of course it's mening! Ihope you finish with your robot on time! I've seen many documentaries about Gandhi. He was absolutely amazing!! Happy birthday for him!! I wish we had more people like him in the world... Bye

Hi, Satya I liked so much the story of the incident with the bus passes you were right, its great the power of the non violence, unfortunately not many people thinks that way. I hope you post a picture of your robot later and tell us how it goes,I´m learning english too and soon I hope improve my skills on this,Satya could you tell me more about your way of life in India, its hard to me to imagine how people lived in other countries because in the Tv news hardly talks about this lattitudes on the planet only the most important events are mentioned. By the way can you imagine how the life is here in México, well I hope that you could answer some of my questions;) Bye!! and good luck in IIt Chennai.

Hello Satya, lovely the Gandhigiri from your country. As it's the Spring here, it would be a nice idea to give flowers to the sick persons here. I'm curious about your robot...good luck in your project.

Hello, Satya! :) Good to know about Ghandigiri, I wish we could put such things into practice the world over, which would make our world a more peaceful place to live in. Let's see if I can answer some of the questions you've asked about the "starred" words - not to correct you but more so to test my own English (is it ok to do so, LE team?). 1) It's fine to write October 2 2)To me, it'd be correct to type: It was my third day of waiting. 3)Everybody was watching them curiously - correct! 4)They had* entered into the Manager's Chamber and placed all the flowers on his table. - incorrect, because from the context we know that it's in continuation of the previous sentence which was past continuous so, to me, it should be: They entered the Manager's Chamber and placed all the flowers on his table. 5) There's no difference in everybody and everyone, as far as I know. 6) Can is present and could is past. We use could in past (simple, past perfect and past perfect continuous) and we also use could to make formal requests, for example: Could you please tell me how long it takes to reach Mumbai by plane? 7) I could not get that and I cannot get that are both correct as you've typed them, but it is the context which really determines whether or not a sentence is correct. Well, I'm doing this just as a quiz, not that I mean to sound like a teacher, we do have a teacher, of course and what she says will surely be what you should follow. I'm also looking forward to what she says about it. This is it, for now. See you!

Hi Satya, i convey my warm wellcome to you to become the student blogare for the month of OCT. And i hope you tell us about the famouse places in your country, about Mahatma Gandi, yourself.and i asure that you will enjoy to be a bloger. I wish you have access to the internet and read your bloges every day. wish you all the best

Nice to meet you,Satya. I am comming first here to talk with you. You are such a great potential in term of using English. Even so, you just practice its English just like four years. It is interesting, isn't it. On the other hand, I have roughly learnt English for ten years or something like that. But on occasion, I make a fool of myself for using new words or maybe familar word, don't you think so? Partly, because English isn't my mother tongue. And partly because I don't have ample time for using English in every day life. Well, at this stage I prefer using English rather than other languages. See you around.

Hi,Satya.I'm glad you are sharing the story and i think you wrote englisht very good. NICE TO MEET YOU!

hi Satya, I was really delighted hear from you the relavnce of Gandhian non-violence, when it is gaining global acceptance. I do believe that the humanity can survive only through non-violence. Thank you so much.

Hi, I was really impress about your Gandhigiri comment. In my country we are tired of the corruption which is in every subject of the society (civil and Goverment). It would be nice to act so correct and effectively against corruption. Thanks a lot for your blog.

Thanks for all your contributions. This blog has now closed and can no longer accept new comments.
