Fireworks Festival
Hello everyone,
On Saturday, I went to the Fireworks' festival with my Singaporean friend and sister. In summer here, we have fireworks festival on every weekend in a different place. I had been to Fireworks on every weekend when I was a student. Now I am busier but would have loved to go there as it makes people including me feel like 'Summer has just come!'.
I was struggling to get the picture on this blog, but the size of the photos are too large and I had NO idea how I could get fixed. So sorry there's no photos here;; I will figure it out when I have time.
The reason I would like to show the photos is, it is very popular for yougsters to wear Yukata, Japanese traditional clothes for summer, which is more casual than 'Kimono'. The people wearing it are all pretty! As 'Yukata' has the thick fabrick and long sleeve, it really is hot. But still very popular. It looks so traditional and we can enjoy the feeling of being old but authentic(*1) Japanese.
My friend from Singapore asked me interesting question, which is ' who hold this festival and how much does it cost?' She asked me because she heard the disneyland in Florida has fireworks which cost a million USD for every night!
Fireworks festivals are usually held by the local governments. Actually my city also has fireworks festival, but not all the local governments have. For the question how much it costs - I do not know and haven't thought about it. However people can watch all the festivals for free.
It is rare that the street got full of the food shops(*2) and this attracts all the people!!! We had the Japanese-style-pancake including noodle, Gyoza (it originated from China, I think. it is boiled poak covered with skin), and 'Takoyaki' (it is small and round shaped pancake within the octpus.) It took so long to describe, but they were all yummy and tasty!!! I LOVE THEM:)
I really would like to show the photos there. Please have a look again after I manage to upload the pictures!!! I know I am bad at handling with degital camera and laptop!
Good night everyone:)
P.S
I am grateful for BBC staff maintaining the blog. Thanks to you, I always feel safe when I am blogging here.
Asterisks:
1 : Can I use 'authentic' for people? I saw this word expressing some food stuff. I wanted to express the word in a different way, as I was taught that English tend to hate the same expressions.
2 : Can everyone understand what I would like to mention here? Usually it is prohibited to have the food shops in the outside, but if it is in a special occasion like this, we can have the outside food shops and there are so many shops there.
James> Thank you so much for the kind comment. I respect you as you have the great motivation to study English. Please keep reading the blogs. - regards, Yumi

Dear Yumi. It's absolutly clear what you mean with the street full of food shops, but I thik that food stands could be more appropriate. Where I live we have fireworks shows for the day of the city, june 7°, and for New Year. In fact, every december 31° at nigth I go with my family to the beach, where the fireworks are, and wait in the sand with grapes and champagne midnigth, to say Happy New Year and see the pyrotechnic show. Hundreds familys do the same (remenber it's plenty summer in the southern hemisphere). That's great specially for children. But to have fireworks every weekend could became a little routinist, in my opinion. Read you soon.
Hi Yumi! Oh... I didn´t forget to send my comment to you yesterday, Yumi. Unfortunately, it didn´t appeared. I don´t know, sometimes my computer 'has his own will'. Hmm... I have a 'HAL' at home, I´m afraid ;-). Wow! the fireworks festival seemed to be amazing. I would like to see a festival like this one day. Ok Yumi, it´s late. I have to go bed. Tomorrow I´ll get up early. See you, Ana Paula.
Hi Yumi! It´s me again! :-) Did you see my last comments? Hmm... I´m afraid there´s something Pete Tong. I´m going to check. Best wishes, Ana Paula.
Hellooo Yumi!!! Here in Vietnam we usually set firework on the New Year Eve or on special occasions. I still remember when the 22nd Seagame took place in 2003, they set firework to celebrate at the stadium. My house is about 4 kilometers away from that. So I climbed up to the 5th floor from which I could see that splendid scene. I felt really elated! I imagine that firework is a symbol of something new and freash. And that year VN earned lots of medals. Your country has a very unique way to celebrate the summer time. Very nice to read your entry! :)

There are usually many times of fireworks in the weekends in the primary garden near the lake in my liveing city. It happens in the evening when there are many people taking a rest or walk. We like to watch the beautiful fireworks. Coinstantanous,There are also fair-sounding music. Most of the people will not leave untill the concert over. I do not go there frequently, though it is a nice place to take a rest off duty. Acturally, if some of my friends come to see me .I will lead my friends to go there to have a look . That is all this time. Lemon.

I want to know more about yukata, the difference between it and kimono. Actually, I've wore yukata once before, it was really nice, cute. Can I ask you the last question?, how much is a normal yukata, usually?? Thank you so much! And nice to meet you, I will read your blog frequently, hope you would type more exciting entries!
Hi Yumi, I've a Japanese penpal. two day agos, he asked me if I know "fireflies" and he said some interesting about it. At that time I don't know what it means. It turned out that "fireflies" is "fireworks" :). I like the way you told about pancake. It makes my mouth water. I also like your picture. You have a specific beauty of Japanese.
HI,Yumi,I have a solution to help you upload the picture,If your picture is too large to upload,Maybe you can change its format and size, such as **.JPG,which is more smaller, and also we can change its size by minishing it,which can be edited in the programe "drawing",I don't know if this program name is drawing or picture,Anyway,it is a innative program in Windows system, you can find it from "start->Programs->attachment->priture or drawing",in this program, there is a item named "image",in which you can find another item can make picture more larger or smaller in size,So,here they are, then we can enjoy your pictures.

Hi Yumi, In France The traditional firework is the 14 July of each year, it celebrate the liberation of the Bastille (prison state)by the rioters in 1789 it's been destroyed the next year in 1790.Today still celebration This day and everyone leaves of absence for this commemoration for to see the Firework. Bye
Hi Yumi, I am really interested to see some pictures of fireworks. I hope you will be able to attached picture in your blog. In your last blog you have already attached on photo. In my opinion a person can be authentic person but not an authentic Japanese/Chinisse/American etc.
Hi Yumi, in Italy fireworks are quite common, expecially during local events and local festivals in summer. Except for New Year Day Eve there's no a special event celebrated everywhere in Italy by fireworks. Where I live, for example, the first day of summer if celebrated by midnight fireworks enriched with famous classic music. The most difficult task is to organize fireworks explosion and composition according to music melodies. The final result is wonderful. Another great event characterized by a great fireworks show takes place in Venice the third sunday of July. This event is known as "Festa del Redentore". Festa stands for Celebration and Redentore stands for God in catholic religion. With this celebration venice people "thank" God to have defeat plague epidemy in Venice in the end of the sixteenth century. Good luck for your blog, Yumi, I'm going on holiday. read you when I'm Back
