My job.
Hi Alex and hi to all my virtual friends.
I really enjoyed reading your comments. Thank you to all who sent them.
I guess Alex that you´re in your way to Easter´s Holidays, so probably you won´t blog today.
Let´s move on! I´m going to tell you about my job today. Although chemestry is the company´s business soul, I don´t work at a petrochemical industry, just like our friend Aaron. The company that I work deal with galvanization of screws for a very demanding segment: the automobile industry.
But do you know something about the galvanization process? If you don´t, let me try make this subject clear to you.
The galvanization process consist basically in cover a metal with another coat of metal ( in this case, zinc or phosphate of zinc) in order to give it more resistence to corrosion. There are huge machines which through electrolysis process( we call baths), galvanize those screws in the first stage. In the second stage they are put at large ovens, in high temperatures ( more than 200ºC) to remove the hidrogen inside of screws. They stay in this ovens for some hours ( now you know why, besides the weather I´m feeling melting) and in this way guarantee more resistence to the torque tension. Then they receive one more zinc coat, and a passivation, which is another bath, that gives more protection to corrosion to those screws, and at last they are dryer and put inside boxes to the final inspection. So, my job is keep those baths in balance in order to guarantee the quality of those screws. I do this through chemical analisys, and I also inspect the visual appearence of them. I work at this company as a quality inspector and also as a chemestry analist. That´s what I do for living. When I took the chemestry technician course together with high school, I´ve never thought that a single screw needs to such complex process. I really enjoy being in the lab, doing some experiments, and seeing where they are going to lead me. However I have to admit that´s a quite stressful job, because it demands too much of me.
I hope that I didn´t confuse you with my humble explanation. You know that my English isn´t very good, and you can imagine that my technician English doesn´t exist! [:) ]
Reading your comments I could see lots of interestings questions about my country, which along this blog I´ll try to answer them.
Yuriy, I´ve translated your comment to my mom and she totally agreed with you! So, we made a deal. I´m going to the movies at the matinee, and then I´m going to the church with her. Humm... let´s see... [ :) ]
The film that I´m going to see is 300 by Frank Miller. I´ve read an article about it, which said that the film it isn´t historically loyal to the real facts, and it just worths for the fantastic special effects. I´d like to see it because there is a brazilian actor in the cast, who besides being strinkingly handsome, just like our teacher, is also a great actor.
I really love it the movies! Further I´d like to write a blog about it, and for sure I want to hear from you about your favourite films, and share our opinions.
In the title of my last blog 32 degrees means 32ºC, the temperature in Mogi das Cruzes in that day. I didn´t find the buttom that corresponded to degrees. Fortunately my sister Rosana came in my help.
My family and I wish to you Alex and all our virtual friends a wonderful Easter.
Ana Paula.

Hi,i would like to share some of my favourite movies.I have been a cinema-fan since i was a little girl about 6 years old.At that time the cinema was about 100 meters away from my home,so that's why i came out and went to cinema almost every night, and sometimes my mum would acompany me.Now i dont have to go to cinema because the old one was not exist for a long time.Fortunately,i saw films on my PC.I like to download some movies that are in the top rank of box office.Oh,I must forget my favorite films. No way!!!!Here are my favorite ones:Pirates of Carribean---The Curse Of Black Pearl starred Johnny Deppt and Anlando Bloom,Troy starred by Brad Pitt,The Lord of the Ring. They all have real plots and pretty actors i think.Wow, i love films which bring me good music and wonderful entertainment. How about yours?Looking forward to hearing from you,and also Happy Easter Day.
Hello Ana, hope you are doing well. Your blog is fairly interesting and you have described your job in so much detail that I could imaging a beautiful girl with innocent face and terrific smile standing in a chemistry lab watching the screws, checking the baths and analyzing the ionic concentration. Although, it is tough job to bear the temperature of the lab but if you enjoying the job then it is okay. I think you should do chemical engineering or Masters in Chemistry if you like the subject. What do you say? I hope that you enjoyed the movie of your favourite hero with your family. Ana we want to see more pictures of you and your family on the blog. I think all the readers will agree me. You are writing very good english and frankly speaking better than others so keep it up. Take care. Farida
Hi Ana,great to meet you and reading your blog.It is really interesting for me.When I first saw your picture on the top,I was totally attracted by your charming smile,I guess you must be a girl with happiness around you everyday, and those who close to you couldn't help to be infected by your happiness,me too:) I was amazing that my job is similar with yours, quality inspector. But the products of my company is different from yours. We produce the machine for the weaving preparing system, which is related to texile.Do you know how the decorative design on the colth was made?Basically, the flower pattern was made of multicolored thread, but there must be a machine for controlling all the thread goes with predefined procedure and direction in order to form the pattern. The machine is called jacquard, which is one of our product series. My duty is to ensure the quality of the components which consist in the machine. So I have to know the machining process of all these components, including galvanization, because some of our parts need this kind of surface treatment too.The truth is I know just a little about galvanization, besides what you mentioned,I know that there are two kinds of galvanization, one is hot galvanization, another is cold, the process and corrosion-resistance is quite different, and the price is absolutely different too.I can safely say your job is definitely important and complex,I wish you will agree with me.I have met a tough quality case on hot galvanization before,we changed three suppliers and finally solved it.The problem is about the aspect and residua on the corner of parts. If the zinc phosphate solution is not uniform, the thickness of zinc coat is not uniform either, and the aspect is awful. The second problem caused by the thick hot zinc phosphate(for hot galvanization),perhaps it's melted zinc but not phosphate, due to the bad fluidness,it is difficult to prevent the residua in the corner. Have you ever met such problem in your work? How do you solve it?I wish my poor english didn't disturb you:) Best wishes and looking forward to your new blog.-Zeata from China
Hello Ana Paula,I introduce myself You call me view that it is my nickname.Yesterday I saw the Spartan300 which is the fantastic movie.
Hi Ana Paula, Alex and friends. Thanks for your clear and interesting explanation about galvanization process, I knew nothing about it. I think working for a chemistry industry is an interesting and difficult job. It is just for clever people like you. When I was younger, I used to work for a petrochemical industry and I loved it (“golden years”). Good Easter for all.
Hi, Ana I don't like the way you call us "virtual freind".It make me feel down. We are real people and of course, your real freinds. Your "job description" makes me feel like at works as it containes a lot of technical words - hard to understand for a layman likeme. Being in chemical environment is endanger to your health especially heavy metal flume. Next time pls. tell us something softer. Take care
Hello. How are you today? I presume that you may enjoy with Easter holiday. Interestingly, I am the scientist as well as you . And I study in field of Biotechnology at the third years' university. I have an enormous plan to continue a higher degree at Mahidiol university in International course for the next two years. My ability English must good that I am looking forward to oneday. God bless you. Wisarut.
shortly i mentioned before 300 hundred is an amazing film for young adult who likes adventures and fake things. like you said there is alot of special effects in the film which makes it unrealistic. but believe i think it is meaningless because it is impossible to stand with 300 hundred solider against thousand solider. even if they are so strong and smart. my favorite film is (road to guantanamo cuba )
Thanks for all your contributions. This blog has now closed and can no longer accept new comments.
