Not sunny anymore I'm afraid

FROM JULIETTE

Mon blog

Today is saturday and I realize I didn`t write for two days. I would like to apologise and bring to my defence that the last two days at work were very busy. On top of it, internet we don't have at home neither which doesn't help and as I want to improve my writing as all of us, It needs time to be written and corrected.
As you will probably notice, I'm using as much linking word as I can throught the blog. It's true It makes a story nicer, it flows better when you read it. However, it's hard for me as I also learn to write scripts for radio and they teach you to get rid of the linking words, to keep your writing as simple as possible. Futhermore, I've never used them before but i'll try.

Today, the weather isn't very nice, it's raining and windy. Nevertheless, I can't say that the weather is that bad in England. Unlike Geneva town where grey is the color of the sky during winter most of the time, I find the weather here in London quite nice. The reason of the grey sky in geneva is due to the geographical situation, indeed the town is situated between two mountains chains; one is called the Jura and the other one the Alps and can be compared to a basin. For example, If one's drive 20 km away from town into the mountains one's will find a bright, pure immaculate blue sky. I'm always amazed as it's only 30 minutes away from the town. That the reason why I find the weather here much better than in Geneva, nevertheless the weather can change a lot within the day. One's can wake up in the morning and discover a great sunny sky, you'll go to work wearing a skirt or thin trousers which matches with your flip flop, when lunch break time rings at Big Ben clock, you'll find ourself stock in the canteen as it'll be raining and windy, moaning at your own stupidity you didn't bring your umbrella, At the end of your day, you can wether find a great sunny sky or still have to face the heavy rain or simply the cold wind with your flip flop and lovely thin skirt. So, mu advice whenever you come to England whatever the season, always carry with you umbrella and sunglasses in your bag. That'd be the best way to be prepared in order to enjoy visiting the country.

This unstable weather could be explained simply by the fact that England is an island and so the climatic changes are quicker than on a bigger continent, the other explanation would be due to the global climate changes that the world is facing. It's a big issue nowadays. I don't know if you're talking and feeling the changes wherever you are but here in England, they said the weather in England has never been so warm with so little rain. I remember last summer, I was nicely suprised how hot it was, probably not as hot as in Brazil, but as hot as in the South of France some days.
This winter was absolutely dreadful for ski resorts in France and Switzerland, not enough snow could be found on the slops and so the customers. Besides the economic consideration, it's much more than that. It's the entire planet which suffer and that means more Tsunami, more dryness, more flood all over the world.

The BBC media has decided to broadcast programmes tackling the topic. Something has to be done and done quickly. Environment specialists say it's already too late. From my point of you, It's not too late but a true engagement from our governements has to be made in order to counter changes. I'm glad the BBC took the decision to highlight the problems as I know the power of the media and their influence towards people and decision-makers. However, Governments MUST take responsability for it. This isn't an individual responsability, it's a universal one.

Here we go, my virtual friends, I feel like going to war with the world now. I love nature and my planet, It deserves to be respected as it brings us food and oxygen and I feel useless sometimes. I want governments to really face the problem as if it was the most important thing in the world and I believe it is with poverty.

Instead of going to war tonight, I'll have dinner with my spanish flatmate but next week i'll try to propose ideas to our programmes department.

Tell me what you think about the climate changes? Don't you also feel useless sometimes about it? What would you like to hear on the radio about it? What would you like your governements to do about it?

Have a great week-end
Juliette

Hi Juliette!Do you know that I wrote homework on the same topic on my Friday´s lesson? How should we behave in order to preserve the bearable life conditions. I am a microbiologist and these unvisible life forms are able to change very easily under our often unresponsible decissions. Thereafter they return and take control over us with bad deseases. But I visited your home country years ago and was wery impressed. I met there small boy who spoke to me three or five languages. Then I´ve leared German which I mybe forgot now. All the best for you!

After visiting blog page ,it seems to be good way to learn something from here . I have a request to our blog student to accept me as your member . thanks to all

The environment problems are getting more and more serious. But I think the government will take action. Although it will very slow.

P.S.:Do you like reading detective stories? Can you answer me on the blog?

hi Juliette Very important subject, climate change. In sweden we noticed the climate change too. I know that the goverment has responsibility for it but we as a single person have to feel about our responsibility against climate change. Here in Sweden we try to travel to our job by using bicycle and tube system instead of cars, we signed an contract with ourselves to use energisave or insufficient lamp in our home, and be very careful whith the garbage. I think that all you can do is very simple steps that can maybe save our blue planet. best wishes

Hi..Juliette It’s great to look me that your today blog’s too long. I didn’t feel to read it boring, even I feel to read it too much enjoyable. Really I like that type of blog. So I wise to get from you continue like that blog. I feel also more happy if I get SAMANTHA blog also, but I didn’t get it when I have checked your blog. Anyway, Bye for today

Hello Juliette! It´s really nice hear from you again. The weather is very hot this weekend, you feel the sun burning your skin. You can´t go out without spread lots of sunblock in your body, have a cap on head and sunglasses. The air humidity is lower, so due this is harder to breath, you have the sensation that your nose and eyes are "dry". It´s important drink water constantly, and avoid being exposed to the sun in the times that it is hotter. I think you are right. I feel powerless in the face of the huge prolblem that globalwarming is. Some politics and midia are concerm about this issue, therefore they are organizing lectures and debates with specialists in this subject to discuss the weather changes in the whole world, analizing the impact of this changes ecologically and economically, asking themselves what we can do to revert or at least steady this climate situation, and which would be the improvements if the countries, specially those that have a higher gas emission decide to join in the Kioto protocol. I hope you have a nice Sunday. Best wishes, Ana Paula.

Hi, Juliette! That is true, the climite changes impact on ourlives too much! In my home town, which is the middle part of China, the weather became very hot. In winter, there were 3 years we did not get any snow, but before, we at least have once. In the same way, the tempreture always last 3months above 30 degrees centigrade in summer now, but before we will get more rain and much cooler. The weather influnces on farmers, they cannot get harvest since there is no enough water; factories, governments, schools etc., they will in vocations if the tempreture is too high. We just stay home and enjoy air-conditions. But it is not good for health. :( All of us like the nature. Government realized the problem and has some solutions. But in fact, the result is just so so, Because most people focus on develping economics, they do not want to do sth conflicted with this. I feel useless in this monment too. I hope all the things will be better in the future. Hi, Juliette! What kind of actions is good as you know? Thanks in advance! Best wishes from Helen

Hello Juliette! I agree with you, that global climate changes are extremly important issue for our social community. I've observed a big changes since last winter. I mean, I can't remaind myself such a mild winter as we have this year. I wonder if the summer will be warmer too or not, because it will provide me a pure evidence, that our climat are becoming warmer and warmer. In consideration of the goverment's activity in Poland, I think the problem seems to be noticed and there are some affords to save our enviroment by introducing some law regulations. But unfortunately that regulations have a goal to reduce a production dangerous substance by penelizing. It's only a half success, because in my opinion there should be some reward system which could give you a prize. For example, when you are segregating a trash, You could get a tax relieve. In Poland we have nothing like that. I'm curious how does it look like in other countries? To sum up, I think there is much more to do to encourage Poles to save our enviroment but I can observe some positive changes in that range. Best wishes !

hello Juliette ..it was nice reading your blog..it talked about something which everyone has to think about seriously these days . I am from india and staying here in france from couple of months ..i find the climate here pretty good when compared to India ..but may be as u say ..even here the climate is changing ..which is something sad :(( .Please do keep writing about some more interesting topics like these .Bubye ..have a nice day !!!

Hi Juliette, your blog is really nice! You make a great pair with Samantha! *smile* The beginning of the winter here in Russia was surprisingly mild. There was practically no snow, the sky was covered with clouds, there was slush in the streets. It was really gloomy and depressing. But now it is wonderful! It's about 25 degrees centigrade, but I love this fresh and glistening snow, this cloudless blue skies and dazzling sun! Now it looks like a real Russian winter, you know! Hope to hear from you soon, Tatyana

Hello Julliete. I believe that we can revert this situation if we want. The men went to the moon and it was considered impossible before. Here they are making studies about the use of the alcohol from the sugar-cane as combustible in large scale to replace gas. They are also making efforts to protect the Amazon Jungle. It's important to think that this changes in the weather can affect all the planet and not only the developing countries.

Hi Juliette. Hope all ok for you in these days we don't hear nothing about you. You said, in a previuous post, that living in London is expensive. Ok , I'd like to know how much is it expensive. I'm managing to pass an year in London and I'm searching for a job... but I don't Know how many money I need to have a good time in London with my one year old kid. Which is the price to rent an house, or a room with other flatemates? How much is the shopping for food? So what annual salary I should have? Thanks for help... Kisses:)

Hello Julliete! Thanks for your contribution to the solution of the problem among English learners. The climate change topic has become a common one recently. Human activity definitely has affect on it. The more we spoil ourselves the more problems we should solve.I have heard about initiatives for 'a day without car'and other similars. I think they can work but as a whole, not only for a day. Unfortunately, we prefer to keep convenience. The measures that governments can take wouldn't stop progress in polutting water and air. Some proccesses are irreversable in my opinion. I think signing the Kioto protocol wouldn't change the situation alot.Despite the fact that I am conviced we should be more responsible to next generations,I am a pessimist about that.I feel useless sometimes just like you.I do my best to contribute to the solution of the problem, but result is not visible up to now.Hope in the future it will be more visible as people understand the problem. Best wishes to you our teacher and all readers! Diema

i thank you are absoulotlly right and we should try to use less thinges that brought Disaster to the invornment and we use insted of cars, busies and etc Bicycle our own feet. i know that me english is too weak if i have some gramaticaly mistakes please apologize me Best regards,

I absolutely agree with you, cloudy and windy days are depressing. Although I live in India, where we get more than enough of sun, but still i'd prefer sun to grey dark skies
